Lucid Air GTP drive system fault

Yeah I’m terrified of this happening on a road trip with the wife and 18 month old. I’ll have to buy my wife a new kitchen if that happens haha. So far no problems have disabled the vehicle though, fingers crossed.
Yeah, we will use the Navigator for road trips until Lucid sorts these issues out and Tesla opens their chargers so we don't have to depend on EA.

I really hope that most of these issues are bugs in the drive-train software and not design or manufacturing issues.

I've taken the Lucid on 6 different road trips so far, no issues!

Yeah my lone road trip issue was the car surprise switching itself to Roll mode, but the car was still drivable and it was fixed after a deep reboot. Aside from that one glitch the car has been the best road trip vehicle.

One road trip double blowout( 21 inch rims met a pothole so hardware issue) two other road-trips no issues, if you can call sub 3 hours each way a proper road trip

Any updates? My GT was delivered yesterday (8/31). Spent 2 hours going through the car. After the rep left, I went for a 30 mile drive. The car accelerated slowly but got up to speed; stopped and shut down the car. After that the car driove fine. I got home, plugged the car in and went to bed. This morning, my car wouldn’t wake up. Lucid tried to wake it up over the air. Key fob and app don’t work. After trouble shooting for an hour with the Lucid rep on the phone, they are sending someone tomorrow morning to take a look. I noticed a small yellow triangle on the dash but couldn’t get any info on it. Worst part is my charger is still plugged into the car and I can’t open the frunk to release it! Anyway, this sounds like a similar issue. I hope its an easy fix.

That really sucks, sorry for the quick post delivery demise. When I experienced the unexpectedly slow acceleration problem, it weirdly fixed itself after driving for 5 minutes but then I was able to do a reboot anyway and the orange triangle went away. Does your valet card do anything if you hold it on the B pillar above the camera on the driver side? I’m sure the phone support had you try that but just checking.

Any update on your car? The details help us all anticipate and troubleshoot things in case it happens to us!

Lucid service reps arrived on time. They pulled two wires from the rear right wheel well and woke up the car. They could not run diagnostics because the car keeps going into deep sleep. The car is going back to Houston for full review. They believe it’s a 12V issue or an issue with the drive system. I’m waiting for a flatbed to come pick it up. I learned how to use a 12V battery to wake it up with the two battery wires from the rear wheel well. I was shown how to pop the drunk manually and where the tow hook is. Lucid does not have a tow mode and the car won’t do into neutral when there is a drive system fault. I should have a full report back from Houston in a few weeks. CA people have to fly out with the 12V volt to install it. They don’t have 12V DC people in Houston. I assume it will be a while until I see the car again.

Yet another 12V issue. Seems the CA folks are going to be busy flying around to fix peoples cars.

How do you pop the trunk manually? That's a good think to know, didn't know that was possible! Interestingly the most recent version of the manual says the car DOES have Tow truck mode and says it's in the Pilot Panel under Settings>Vehicle and turning Tow Truck Mode on. I wasn't aware this existed, maybe this is in an upcoming OTA? If the car's parking brake is stuck on and can't go into neutral then the vehicle can be damaged by being dragged onto the tow truck and Lucid's manual says the warranty doesn't cover any damages incurred from towing this way.

Yeah I’m really interested in how you pop the trunk manually as well.

It takes 2 people to manually open the frunk. Apparently opening the Frunk manually is a highly guarded secret for security reasons and is not easy but can be done. The Lucid tow mode only disables the alarms but does not work like the Tesla tow mode (which actually helps get the car on the flat bed with its drive wheels). The Lucid needs to be in neutral. When the drive system is disabled, the wheels need to be removed and the electronic brakes need to be released manually. Then the car can be placed on skates and positioned to be brought onto the trailer. There is a single tow hook on the left front of the car (with a slight angle). The car needs 2 tow hooks to safely be used to bring onto a flat bed. The car is getting towed 4 hours to Houston in the rain without a cover.

Lots to unpack here:
1) guarded secret or not, can you share perhaps in an owners only forum so that we can be able to do it if it happens to us?
2) if there is a single tow hook (which I was aware of), how do you attach the second tow hook?

I wonder if by tow mode they just mean the feature that disables shock/tilt alarms? I’m looking at my car and there is no tow truck mode as described in the user manual, must be for a future update?

I assume it’s a future update just like Highway Assist, etc, which is already in the manual too.

Just wanted to provide a quick little update. I got some good news and a lot of bad news but the good news is They upgraded my rental to a BMW M3 and they are offering finical compensation. The bad news is that 4 Parts have been broken in my car and it's been 3 weeks and I still have not gotten my car back. They replaced the Wunder Box and then flew out engineers to Fix my battery. They now have to fix the Telematics control unit and it also seems that a couple of sensors are malfunctioning too. So there it is my quick little update

Damn...... that sucks. This isn't a good look for Lucid :(

I also went through a similar problem cause my drive system failed also they took 5 hours trying to tow it but thankfully lucid said they would cover all towing damages since they couldn't send anyone out to release the breaks.
