Not in Turtle Mode, yet

Yea, I do not think it is a motor failure. I think it is the coolant for the batteries all over my floor. I really do not think it will be a major repair, at least I hope not. I really depends on where the leak is, I would guess. The problem for me is also logistics. They have to send someone with an enclosed trailer to take the car from Charlotte to Atlanta, so it takes a day there and a day back plus whatever time it takes to diagnose the problem, get the part(s) and make the repair. They also said that Lucid might want to send someone from engineering to look at the issue will add time as well since that person will have to fly from the west coast to Atlanta.

Just my luck though with the first tow they arranged that the guy was involved in an accident on the way to my house. They actually sent a flatbed in its' place which is a serious non-starter, for me and for Lucid. So it will now be tomorrow, most likely, before they can pick the car up.

Man, you just can't catch a break. So sorry you are going through this. Hopefully, they can turn it around in days instead of weeks on the repair itself.

The motors could be tested/run on a machine test stand before they are installed in the cars so no mileage would go on the cars.
I don't think running every motor for 100 miles is the answer here. If 1 in every 500 motors or so is failing, that's a lot of time and effort (not to mention extra wear) on the 499 motors that aren't going to fail. And then there could very well be the occasional motor that breaks at 101 miles.

I imagine they are inspecting each and every motor failure and trying to come up with a common cause. If they can find that, then they can perhaps figure out where in the process those few that are failing are developing the issue. Some part, or maybe a step in the assembly process. Wherever the fail actually is "set in stone" if they can then alter that, they should be good to go. Or, if they can at least develop a way to predict a failing motor via a simple inspection of that failing part BEFORE the motor ends up in a car, that would be great.

This is a very serious issue. But my guess is they will get to the bottom of it and be able to stop future motors from failing in the same way.

Hundreds of millions of ICE engines were broken in on test stands over the years, for obvious other reasons, but it was a standard in the industry. Henry Ford started this on the Model T engine.
In this day and age a 1 in 500 failure rate of electric motors is huge. In my 45 year career we ran 72” greenhouse fans pulling 60,000 cubic feet of air per minute 24 hours a day for months at a time and 8HP irrigation wells pushing 2,000 gallons of water 24/7 for 3-4 months non stop In rice fields. In 40 years I can only recount one failure and it was in the entry wiring.

Well, according to @CLTGT it's not a motor failure but a battery pack coolant failure somewhere.

I am not sure I actually stated definitively what the problem is, just what I think it is, or is not.

I do not think it is a motor failure, could still be, but it appears, based on discussions with a Lucid tech, that is more likely coolant all over my garage floor. I just wish that whatever it is, it hadn't happened. The impact to me is essentially the same, a car in my garage that should not be driven and must be transported over 250 miles before they can determine what the repair actually is.

My issue with these motor failures is my wife’s health which is terrible. We go to Dr’s appointments 2-5 times a week and the thought of a motor cratering in this heat out on the road with her on board is a bit concerning.
If that is your only car, I would concur.

Oh man. Sorry to hear. I was so much hoping that all of your purchasing troubles would be over and you could simply enjoy the car. Let’s hope it is a simple coolant connection and can be fixed and returned quickly. Don’t get rid of the 68 Mustang, you need something reliable!

So sorry CLTGT that you have been snake bit on your Lucid pre and post delivery experience. I hope Lucid fixes your situation and you returns your car very soon.

Could be something as simple as an improperly fastened hose clamp, hopefully after this it will all be a great ownership experience.
The tow truck driver getting into an accident...can't make this stuff up 🤦‍♂️

Well at least they didn't get into an accident AFTER picking your vehicle up...
Glass half full, that's what I'm talking about!! 👍🍻

if they gave you the option of repairing and giving back this original car (assuming it'll take a few weeks), or giving you a new one off the factory line (couple months again), which would you choose? it must be devastating and a big blow for your confidence towards the car....
I would 100% choose a new one. I know I am not appreciated here because I keep finding issue but this one may be just a few more weeks away.

These guys are bozos. There is no real work done but they are more like Salesmen. Very nice and polite but don’t expect much from the service.

They “supposedly” fixed my back windows. Had to ride in the back seat and I can hardly hear from my ears now due to the horrendous noise coming from that window they fixed. Also found sitting in the back seat that the suede beam running between the front and the back is also coming off.

I just can’t believe people when they say the room in the back is big. I could hardly sit in the back for our 1:15Hours ride in the back and I am only 6 ft tall. They might have more success making a Two door Roadster instead. This IMO is NOT a Family Sedan.
I am just amazed at the LACK OF QC or their Pre delivery and repair staff. Just going through the motions.
I don’t even have ANY Windshield washer fluid so maybe that is a good sign.

I think I had already said there is another area where the covering is clearly out.

The Driver side mirror started acting up again
AC has never worked well and is totally sub par.

Sorry to hear about CLTGT’s issues. Definitely worse when a motor fails. Well hang in there is all I can say.
At least they responded and gave you a rental offer. I agree better to rent what you like vs something generic.

Before the usual players start berating me yesterday convinced me the Car WILL BE ON SALE as soon as I have all the papers in hand and I can claim my 7500$ rebate.

I have no doubt I will have to sell it at a loss.

I might ask Lucid if they want to buy it back for what I paid for it 😂😂.

I truly wish you would post photos of all the issues you are having.

Every car I have owned I sold for a loss. Why would a Lucid be expected to be any different?

In Buddhism, there is this concept called “Manifestation Destiny”. The more positive you think, the more positive vibes you attract which lead to future positive projection; as well as vice versa for negativity.

Just Breathe…. Inhale…. Exhale… Breathe…

Okay. Thanks for sharing how you feel.

Good luck.
