1.2.6 OTA Out

I did notice when playing Atmos tracks in Tidal on high quality that when you press to go to the next track you’ll hear a screech for a split second.
 
So, I’m still confused. Pre or post latest update, is there auto-steering on the Lucid or not?

Will I be able to drive my Lucid on freeways, the way I drive my Tesla - hands off, apart from light tugs at 30 second intervals, just to reassure the computers that I’m still there?
I don't think so as Highway Assist would be a BIG deal when they release it. It would not fly under the radar as a surprise.

Picked my car up from the Service Center today, and they had installed it for me. A few notes:

- Agree with other posters that the AC systems seems to work better. Didn't have a problem with it before, but I found myself moving down to 4-5 fan speed within 5 or so minutes of driving
- I think the Tidal tracks sound better, but I noticed that the grayed out Atmos logo doesn't seem to be there anymore (or maybe what I was playing just wasn't that. I do think you need to go into the Tidal app on the car and check the Hi-fi setting, but someone who knows this stuff better than I can probably speak better to it
- I only briefly looked at the new Nav, so I can't say much on that
- As others have said, I had to re-sync Alexa
- Side cameras seemed to come up a little quicker when putting on the blinker

Not sure if this is related to the update, but I did find some challenges with the unlocking of the car. When showing it to a friend, after we got back from the ride, I locked it with the fob. Then I wanted to show him the frunk and trunk, but I couldn't get the car to unlock. Fob didn't work. Even trying to unlock from the app didn't work. Handles didn't pop out. I wound up letting it go to sleep. Didn't have another problem, but it was slow to unlock automatically the next time I needed it.

After 10 days without, reminded again how much fun it is to drive, but the ventilated seats still seem to provide very little cooling even though they said it all looked to be working. Happy to see the upgrades and looking forward to more (hopefully in less time than this last one).

Interesting. I actually found them to be better after the update. Maybe I’m imagining it though :p

I noticed that the grayed out Atmos logo
I think it was a big in the previous version as everything seemed to say Atmos and now nothing. When I searched for some Atmos playlists the logo showed up when playing them.
 
Didn’t get mine, despite the call center claiming my car was scheduled for Monday. I chalk it up to that day being the 13th.

I patiently waited 3 or 4 hours thinking it was still updating. It had gotten dark in the garage and I could finally see this message on the center panel.

The car was totally dead in that I could not unlock the doors with any method. The update progress said 0%. Luckily, I opened the rear trunk and crawled to the front and opened the front doors "mechanically." The rear doors would not open and I could see this as a problem if there were an accident.

I called customer care and they were not able to do anything. They reported this to the OTA team. After about an hour the car alarm was on and I was able to silence it using the key fob. The doors would unlock, but the error message still persisted. I was able to put it in drive and reverse in the garage, so it was probably drivable.

I got a call from customer care and they told me that the OTA team had uploaded another update. The CC person told me to disable WiFi before the update, since he was told that is the safest way to do it. I started the update from the car and in a few minutes it was at 14% after about 20 minutes it was at 24% and stayed there for another 40 minutes (1 hour total). The car again displayed the the above Software Failed message. Customer care called me back to check and I told them of the situation - which was the same as the first time. They put in a problem report and I should hear from someone tomorrow regarding a mobile tech coming out.

It was really hot here today(105º or so) and about as hot in the garage. The car fans are coming on/off, so I left the garage door open and that has helped. The car accessories are on, like interior lights and USB. Hopefully this does not run down the 12V battery – maybe the fans coming on is an indication that the DC to DC converter is kicking in and keeping the accessory battery charged.

The above is a condensed version of what happened. This all transpired in the course of about 7 hours with a lot of diagnosing with the CC person over the phone – including about a gallon of sweat in the hot garage.
 
I just accidentally hit the “Report” icon on your post, DeaneG. I don’t know if it activated, but please know that it was accidental if you do hear anything. I agree with your point about the choice of partners for nav and voice.

Damn man that sucks! I was scared of this happening. Do you have DE or GT? After I did the software update I had a weird thing occur where the upper right glass cockpit screen and pilot panel went into sleep mode while I was driving, not black but just the night time screen that said Lucid. The 360 camera still popped up when I was close to an object though. A reboot cured it. I guess you can’t reboot yours in that state. Can you charge it, like does manually opening the charge port and plugging it in cause the green lights to show charging even if the car is bricked?

So the moral of this is DO NOT ALLOW AN UPDATE WHILE ON A TRIP OR IF YOU NEED THE CAR FOR SOMETHING CRITICAL THE NEXT DAY (Such as a job interview, important meeting, heading to the airport, etc.)

This, btw, is exactly why these things get pushed in batches, instead of all at once.

I generally don’t think about these things with mature platforms, but given Lucid is so new, and their track record on software has been pretty bad so far, this is good advice.

I loved my test drive and the way the car performed, but to go out to the garage and be greeted by this would be deeply frustrating and concerning. Software shortcomings are one thing, failure to the point where you have to crawl in through the trunk and can't drive the car are another matter. Is this car, or this Company, really ready to sell in great quantities?

Well, while this forum is not representative of all vehicles, so far this has only happened to one member, so I’m not sure that’s screaming out red flags to not buy the car? When my 2 year old Mercedes stalled in the middle of the interstate due to a defect in the gas cap design that sucked air into the fuel system, can’t say a software update bricking the car in a parked garage is more worrisome. Should I have not bought the Merc? CarPlay also crapped out one out of every 5 times I’d plug my phone in and I’d have to replug it in, and it required 4 service visits in the first 9 months to solve an airbag failure alarm.

Not to minimize it of course, it’s bad and shouldn’t happen, and I hope they get @Alex a quick fix, but rarely computers corrupt on a software update and cars now are computers on wheels whether it’s a Lucid or a Kia.

It doesn't get reported as often, but I have had zero issues with my car except a minor issue with a creaking steering wheel (which will get fixed eventually). I have never had to reboot which was a bi-weekly event with my Tesla.

My only issues are software performance related (e.g. I can't stand the low frame rate of the nav map) which I am hopeful will steadily improve.

Thanks, I guess it comes with the territory, people are just more likely to post bad experiences (like mine with anything pre-delivery) than they are positive.
