Gravity Delivery Discussion

You need to read up on those crossbars on the Reddit thread. Evidently, there was a problem with how the Air crossbars attached to the roof. As I understand it, the bolts on the crossbar brackets attach to a nut in a blind hole in the roof of the car. That nut wants to turn when you unscrew the bolt to remove the crossbar. If that nut starts turning there is no way to grab hold of it because it’s under the roof of the car. I don’t know if the Gravity design is improved, but the people who mounted them on the Air couldn’t get them off, so the crossbars became permanent. Let us know if the Gravity design has the same issue. I like the look of the crossbars, but I would want the option to remove them to improve the range for a long trip.
My crossbars arrived today but now I am scared to try to put them on as I don’t intend to keep them on. The ones on our R1S are easy to get on and off…

Will try to morning and report back. Actually, going to switch over to the accessories thread for it.

Hey everyone, I’m hoping someone has some ideas on how to expedite the process of getting my gravity delivery.

I have a non-negotiable moving date (i need the car for it), so I placed my order on the website in July. My sales representative informed me that production would only begin in November. However, I quickly found an option on the website that would be available in two weeks (starting October 2). My sales representative, a very nice person, added the car to my profile.

The car left the factory and arrived in New Jersey on Monday, October 13th. My sales representative keeps trying to get a delivery date, but the service center doesn’t provide any information. Is there any way I can contact someone other than my sales representative to inquire about the status of the car? I need the car before the end of next week at the latest (October 24th), but with all the paperwork, wire transfer, and registration process, I’m starting to worry that I won’t be able to get it.

Any suggestions?
If it’s at the SC, and you can get there, go to the SC. It’s the only reliable way to speak with the Manager, etc and get answers. Otherwise you can call and get in a game of phone tag - even at the best of SCs.

Express to your SA you want to take delivery after your vacation & will it be cancelled or can the place a hold for you.
I did and he basically told me that I cannot holdoff on delivery because I was going on a planned vacation on a planned trip. He said that Lucid can cancel my order or assign the car to another reservation holder. Basically what he was saying, if we want to deliver and you're away, someone has to take delivery for me. He also said that this was in the contract. It would have fine if they delivered on the 13th. It would give me enough time to inspect the car and enjoy it for a few days and if something is wrong, they can service it while I'm gone. It's now the 16th and I hadn't heard from him.

Are you leasing, financing or cash purchase?
Is there a trade-in?
There is a safety hold for certain Gravity regarding airbag, possibly why your SA can't get an answer from NJ service center pending inspection.
Are you registering in NY or FL? Did you share that with your SA?

Question about the dash cam feature:

We formatted the USB stick and chose the triggering events for the Drive Recorder.

However, when I open Video Storage it asks again to format the stick. I did so and tried again, and I just got another prompt to format the stick. This happened over and over.

Is Video Storage integral to the operation of the Drive Recorder, or is it an entirely separate feature? If the latter, what USB stick is it referring to?
It's finicky. And yes, it's integral. Once it's formatted the first time, eject it, and then reinsert it. It should mount correctly. If it doesn't, try again.

It's finicky (and in beta)

How does one actually view the videos?

Lucid just called and said they need to move the delivery again until next week because the front sensor is not working correctly on the car. No point in picking up a car I’m just going to have to return to the service center. Seems like this stuff should be tested before it leaves the factory. Super frustrating to look forward to picking up the car and then move the delivery twice after waiting 4 months. I feel like Charlie Brown and Lucy just pulled the football again.

We had to insert the USB several times to get it to format for the Drive Recorder. But we still had the problem with opening Video Storage. (Interestingly, when I installed the USB stick in the newest Gravity, it worked the first time, giving me a little hope this new one won't be as big a pain in the ass as the first one.)

However, I finally figured out that, even though the Drive Recorder can initially be set up through Settings, it actually should be set up through Safety & Security, the icon of which did not show up on the Pilot Screen until I hit the three yellow dots to the right of the icon dashboard. When I redid the setup through Safety & Security the problem with the Video storage resolved.

One other thing: in our car the tab for setting up storage reads only "Video Storage". In the instructions Lucid put out it reads "Video Storage and Sharing". Are there two versions out there?

What's in the Lucid instructions:

I also didn't realize that Halo Secure has to be set up separately for each profile.

How would you compare the Gravity debut with the early days of the Air Dream?
By the time I got my GT, about a year after you, things were kind of sedated.

Sounds about right. I said it was finicky; I do not remember how. :) :P

The instructions are aspirational :P

Either in the car in the Halo Secure app, or by ejecting the USB key and plugging it into your computer.
I don't think I have any option to view video? Does anyone know exactly where that would be?

You have to tap on the three dots on far right of pilot screen after other apps. Them all apps pop up and Halo is the shield. Tap it and that’s how you enter the video interface.

I finally figured that out. But why is the dot-within-the-circle icon for manually initiating recording grayed out when I start the car until I go into the Safety & Security menu to activate it. Do I really have to remember to do this every time I get in the car to have the feature available?

Two days ago I was driving several miles above the speed limit when a school bus (empty, thank goodness) came flying past me on my right. Suddenly it veered left to get into the opening between me and the car ahead, coming within 10 feet of my front bumper. I would love to have been able to initiate a recording to send to the School Board. I was able to get a photo of the bus at the next stoplight, but a video would support the point much more strongly.

Exactly this. Dashcams of any brand are indispensable for proving $hitty driving like this.

Took delivery two weeks ago. Grand Touring, ordered day one. I had an 18 month lease on my Air Grand Touring that I'd extended to two years; I took delivery of the Gravity the day before the Air lease expired... good timing!

It is such a joy to drive. Handling, clearance, comfort (massaging seats!) and well-placed, easy to read screens. I took it up to Tahoe Wednesday and had 80 miles range left when I arrived (from a 100% charge). On the way back, from 90% charge, I got home with nearly 50% battery remaining!

Some issues they need to work out:
  • Key fob issue: enough said. I replaced the battery twice in two weeks before learning that all I likely needed was a fob reset. Well, at least now I know the battery is full!
  • Various display issues, mainly just inconsistently applied. The right-of-steering wheel sub-display wasn't showing turn-by-turn directions *or* Now Playing for the entire drive home, and it seems like it otherwise shows up somewhat inconsistently. The left sub-display works fine but it would be nice if there were more options available.
  • The Energy app's usage graph is very cool! However, it got tripped up often, and kept defaulting to percentage display of rated range, instead of dynamic. It also decided 2/3 of the way on the trip to reset to Mile 1, even though I hadn't stopped or pulled over.
  • I didn't miss CarPlay as much as I thought I would, but I still missed it. I hope that CarPlay and Andriod Auto come soon, and allow for some of the next-gen integrations with the existing Lucid displays.
All in all, the car is brand new, the software is in its infancy, and it will doubtless get better and better as time goes on. Hopefully there's an OTA fix for the key FOB issue as I don't want to carry a screwdriver on the road and/or have my card around "just in case."

But man, was it worth the wait!
On our ongoing trip to Santa Fe, New Mexico ( we arrived tonite and had to replace the FOB battery to move the car from lobby parking to hotel parking. I had the FOB reset instructions with me( Open FOB, remove battery , hold unlock while inserting battery back into FOB) , a swiss army knife to open the @(#&@#@&^& Battery packaging and gently pry the back off the FOB. Oh and about the batteries, I took along a meter (red/green) and for 6 or 7 resets just put the same one back. Tonite that was not enough. The meter still shows a mid to low green reading but it is not enough. Tried it twice then opened the new pack and loaded a new CR 2450. Worked right away.

Only had to do soft reset (brake + Both left bottom steering wheel buttons… wait for the left status screen to say release it…. And give it a few minutes to clear its noggin.) 3 or 4 times in 1100 miles… over 3 days.Various oddities on the screen were noticed… none severe… Waiting for whatever Apple CarPlay (ultra?) and PaaK to work so we can get more confidence in using the car reliably. Glad I studied up on this forum before taking our shakedown cruise.

Dream drive can still be unpredictable and occasionally scary in traffic… Do keep a hand on and not simply resting against wheel for real safety. All in all the car is wonderful and blasting across deserts is just that… a blast. We visited the Route 66 museum in Kingman, AZ which has a nice section on EVs. Sound system is marvelous, Seats are comfy… when tired turn on the massagers.

Shakedown revealed a noise in the driver side fan that can be remedied later, A small rock found the windshield but seems to have only chipped the laminate no crack or star. Mind the doors in the wind as both of caught at once and scared us because they opened so quickly to extreme, they are both still working fine but we were nervous. So… so far so good…
