While the Scottsdale SC is replacing my windshield on my ‘22 AGT they will be doing the CCC v2 tomorrow. Stay tuned.
What performance difference and or response have you seen with the upgrade?Upgraded the chip at service and getting my car back today! Super excited! Happy to answer any questions!
I don’t get the impression that it takes that long at all. I’ll know more tomorrow and post what I find out.Strange, I tried to sign up for the upgrade at Millbrae service center... they are saying they need to keep the car for 7-10 days to complete this upgrade. has anyone else been told that it's that long a process???
Totally! My Rivian key works every single time. Both my R1S and my Lucid AGT are in the same garage. Keys are on the same phone. Hence, WiFi interferences/Bluetooth signal strength are equivalent. Rivian works every time. Lucid unlocking is a crap shoot!I can say as a Sapphire owner and a Rivian owner that the keyless entry still sucks on the Lucid. My Rivian unlocks when I get near. My Sapphire makes me take my phone out of my pocket almost always. Because of the Rivian I know how it should work.
I can say as a multi lucid owner my mobile key works every time. Lucid unlocking isn’t a crap shoot for me. Unfortunate to hear so many people have problems with this.Totally! Do you like operating your 10 year old laptop or a new one? That is the real value here. All depends if you notice the difference - that is where (wait for it), 'the rubber meets the road!' j/kIt’s not a dinosaur, by any means, but there is one important point: the car is 3 years old from a production perspective, but the infrastructure and equipment inside it can be quite a bit older. The v1 CCC is a chip from 2015-2017, because that was when the vehicle was designed.
The new one is modern, and newer by almost a decade.
That doesn’t make the car a dinosaur, but the CCC is a big upgrade from a “processing power” perspective. Whether that is useful to you is best left as an exercise to the reader.
Definitely notice a difference in response time on the infotainment. Relatively, I’d say it’s akin to jumping from a 5ish year old phone to a new one. Please let us know what difference if any you are able to feel/experience after this change. Thanks.
It was about 3ish hours but because I left it there overnight it ended up being next day for me. Real work time was around 3 hours though.Awesome! How long did the service take? I just dropped mine off also. Initially had an appointment to fix the leather in the drivers seat but was able to add the upgrade to the service.
See previous answer. I’ll continue to update as I get more mileage in!What performance difference and or response have you seen with the upgrade?
Is anyone able to get a simple table of the specs of the 2 chips (pre-25/post-25)? When I buy GPUs for my PC I assess if it's worth it based on price and what features they enable as well as theoretical headroom for 3-5 years...Thanks. I try hard to call a spade a spade.
The CCC is not the only thing involved in speed. It doesn’t create bugs, either, though it can contribute to them (by virtue of running out of memory or something).
The initial Air was designed in… 2017? Possibly using a 2015-2016 chip at the time? Between Lucid being brand new at the time (and thus having no leverage to get manufacturers to sell chips to them, as a brand new small scale manufacturer) and the chip shortage during the pandemic, it’s possible they made the decision not to make any additional adjustments and just… launch.
But it’s not like it’s a substandard CCC. It’s just older.
I’d agree lying by omission is lying, but I don’t think they’ve done that either. They’ve admitted most of their faults. They just haven’t always provided solutions for them.
I was genuinely sad about this. Before he lost his mind and decided to run for President, I really wanted a roadster, and I still want a two-seater roadster to exist - but now I want Lucid or Hyundai to make it. Honestly, I’m just disappointed that Tesla hasn’t innovated in years. And no, the Optimus and RoboTaxi don’t count.
Lucid has Autopilot, or the equivalent. What it doesn’t have is FSD. I would argue Tesla also doesn’t have FSD in a way that is good enough, as evidenced by them not being Level 3 certified, whereas MB is, for example.
I have no qualms giving credit to Tesla for pioneering the EV revolution and for working on autopilot. I just think they’ve been eclipsed on both, by various companies. And I find that very sad.
But I recognize this is a point on which we’re likely to simply agree to disagree.
(Aside: I think SpaceX and Starlink are both great. Elon shuffling money from SpaceX into his failing xAI and Twitter/X, I find less great; but I digress)
I have no problem with any of that, of course. I was just clarifying the facts.![]()
