Yay Hardware upgrade CPU and memory

While the Scottsdale SC is replacing my windshield on my ‘22 AGT they will be doing the CCC v2 tomorrow. Stay tuned.

Strange, I tried to sign up for the upgrade at Millbrae service center... they are saying they need to keep the car for 7-10 days to complete this upgrade. has anyone else been told that it's that long a process???

The installation process doesn't take that long...but when you add the lead-time for sourcing the part, evidently it does. I'm very, very confused why they're handling it that way. Unless I'm missing something very obvious, then even if they want to order the parts "just in time," they should wait for those to come in and THEN have the driver come in. Have a restocking fee if the driver cancels and, by some miracle, nobody else is waiting on that part, and based on booking volume, nobody else will be booking a similar service soon.

NOTE: I'm basing the above on my recollection of posts earlier in the thread where service centers specifically said the long delay was for lead time on parts.

The notion of tying up the owner's car for more than a week confuses me a great deal. I have to believe they're smarter than this, though, as I said, and I AM missing something. Perhaps they are quoting longer windows on the early installations to allow for training or issues that pop-up in testing after installation since the whole process is 'new' (at least at the service centers).

Definitely true here in Las Vegas. Called for an appointment for the upgrade. Lucid Customer Service advised me that someone local would call me. I got the call later that same day. Long story short, they are waiting for the chips to come in before they can schedule me. Not clear whether they will take my car or mobile service will replace at my home.

I don’t get the impression that it takes that long at all. I’ll know more tomorrow and post what I find out.

I scheduled the upgrade last week and Torrance SC setup mobile service on 7/29. it is fantastic that Lucid offer the mobile service for the upgrade

I can say as a Sapphire owner and a Rivian owner that the keyless entry still sucks on the Lucid. My Rivian unlocks when I get near. My Sapphire makes me take my phone out of my pocket almost always. Because of the Rivian I know how it should work.
Totally! My Rivian key works every single time. Both my R1S and my Lucid AGT are in the same garage. Keys are on the same phone. Hence, WiFi interferences/Bluetooth signal strength are equivalent. Rivian works every time. Lucid unlocking is a crap shoot!

I can say as a multi lucid owner my mobile key works every time. Lucid unlocking isn’t a crap shoot for me. Unfortunate to hear so many people have problems with this.

It’s not a dinosaur, by any means, but there is one important point: the car is 3 years old from a production perspective, but the infrastructure and equipment inside it can be quite a bit older. The v1 CCC is a chip from 2015-2017, because that was when the vehicle was designed.

The new one is modern, and newer by almost a decade.

That doesn’t make the car a dinosaur, but the CCC is a big upgrade from a “processing power” perspective. Whether that is useful to you is best left as an exercise to the reader.
Do you like operating your 10 year old laptop or a new one? That is the real value here. All depends if you notice the difference - that is where (wait for it), 'the rubber meets the road!' j/k

Please let us know what difference if any you are able to feel/experience after this change. Thanks.
Definitely notice a difference in response time on the infotainment. Relatively, I’d say it’s akin to jumping from a 5ish year old phone to a new one.

Mobile key is also much faster. When I try to open the frunk from mobile it’s much quicker to execute. I’m unsure if this is related to the chip upgrade but it definitely feels like it.

The screen still runs about as warm as it did before.

This next piece could just be my vehicle, but they found that the front radar voltage was low and their assessment was that it was a result of the ccv1. The notes suggest the radar issue was resolved as a result of the chip upgrade.

Awesome! How long did the service take? I just dropped mine off also. Initially had an appointment to fix the leather in the drivers seat but was able to add the upgrade to the service.
It was about 3ish hours but because I left it there overnight it ended up being next day for me. Real work time was around 3 hours though.

Glad you could squeeze that in!

Mobile service installed my CCC and attended to some minor adjustments in under three hours yesterday. I immediately noticed faster response time of the accelerator and less front motor whine, but maybe it was just my imagination. Screen response was noticeably faster. I also noticed and this is not my imagination that the regenerative braking in sprint on the high setting had far gentler stops even at a 60% SOC. I will get use to it but initially it was a bit unsettling because the car did not stop as it had before the new CCC. I extend my appreciation to the Lucid tech from the Mechanicsville temporary service center for his courteous and professional attention.

CCC = Center Console Controller
It is responsible for handling CarPlay, Android Auto, navigation, and other related functions.

It physically controls two displays: the right cockpit screen and the retractable CID (Center Information Display).

The left cockpit, center cockpit, and rear seat displays are handled by a different computer called ICC.

It’s also quite embarrassing for a car of this class to have glitchy camera feed during turning maneuvers — especially since the image is rendered by the ICC, which Lucid does not offer a retrofit for.

Thanks. I try hard to call a spade a spade.

The CCC is not the only thing involved in speed. It doesn’t create bugs, either, though it can contribute to them (by virtue of running out of memory or something).

The initial Air was designed in… 2017? Possibly using a 2015-2016 chip at the time? Between Lucid being brand new at the time (and thus having no leverage to get manufacturers to sell chips to them, as a brand new small scale manufacturer) and the chip shortage during the pandemic, it’s possible they made the decision not to make any additional adjustments and just… launch.

But it’s not like it’s a substandard CCC. It’s just older.

I’d agree lying by omission is lying, but I don’t think they’ve done that either. They’ve admitted most of their faults. They just haven’t always provided solutions for them.

I was genuinely sad about this. Before he lost his mind and decided to run for President, I really wanted a roadster, and I still want a two-seater roadster to exist - but now I want Lucid or Hyundai to make it. Honestly, I’m just disappointed that Tesla hasn’t innovated in years. And no, the Optimus and RoboTaxi don’t count.

Lucid has Autopilot, or the equivalent. What it doesn’t have is FSD. I would argue Tesla also doesn’t have FSD in a way that is good enough, as evidenced by them not being Level 3 certified, whereas MB is, for example.

I have no qualms giving credit to Tesla for pioneering the EV revolution and for working on autopilot. I just think they’ve been eclipsed on both, by various companies. And I find that very sad.

But I recognize this is a point on which we’re likely to simply agree to disagree.

(Aside: I think SpaceX and Starlink are both great. Elon shuffling money from SpaceX into his failing xAI and Twitter/X, I find less great; but I digress)

I have no problem with any of that, of course. I was just clarifying the facts. :)
Is anyone able to get a simple table of the specs of the 2 chips (pre-25/post-25)? When I buy GPUs for my PC I assess if it's worth it based on price and what features they enable as well as theoretical headroom for 3-5 years...

Reporting a successful install of new CCC via mobile support. Displays are clearly "snappier" as advertised. @Lucid, thanks for making this available. Glad to have a 2025 computer in a 2022 AGT!
