Yes, the house too. San Diego wildfires in 2007. In this picture, the BMW is hiding under that bump in the garage door! I'm glad they put the red tag there, otherwise I wouldn't know that the house was considered unsafe for occupancy!

true... I should qualify it I guess… Good overall experience with the insurance companies.

Little problems, big problems, they all deserve our attention. What's important is the lessons we teach ourselves and our children. My kids were 12, 10, and 10 at the time of the fire. We left with nothing except what we were wearing and the dogs. This experience taught me the value of understanding and patience. Dealing with the city, HOA, insurance company, contractors, etc. taught me that you definitely catch more flies with honey than vinegar. That's why some of the rants and entitled whining I see here on the forum rub me the wrong way.

Yeah, my in-laws were in Rancho Bernardo. Their house was OK, but it was close. I'm really sorry you had to deal with that.

Got word today that State Farm declared our car a total loss. Now working to find its replacement. (Hint: it's going to be another Lucid.)

Hopefully they give you replacement cost, and IMO they should seeing they did the math on what that car is worth as a parts car.

What's crazy looking at your photos (besides your home and car being destroyed) is how random that wildfire was in choosing what was burned and what wasn't, our tornadoes can be like that too. Mother nature can be a bitch at times.

Wow Bobby, those are some crazy pictures. Losing a car is upsetting, but I can't imagine losing a home like that. That's devastating.
I remember that fire because I wasn't here; I was in New Jersey visiting my aunt. I was getting non-stop phone calls asking if my house was okay. Watching the news there, it looked like all of San Diego was burning down. So I had no idea if I'd have a home to come back to. But we were lucky, and even though my neighborhood was evacuated, the fire never got here.

Lucid was very helpful in making the decision: checked service history, state of battery, confirmed all recall inspections had been done and software was current.

Now gotta sit out the 5-10 days for transport to Florida, 5-6 more days getting PPF applied, and 5 more days for radar/laser detector install. Probably close to another month to have unfettered use of the car.

WOW! May we know what is the value of that Dream Edition #395? Since I missed the train and ended up owning an earliest GT delivery, I am always curious of what if and price gap.

I just found your replacement car in online search. It is very well priced at very low mileage and look like well kept by dealership owner. CONGRATULATION for getting another DE! If I found out I can get this car slightly lower than my new GT, I would pay for this car instead despite being used. Very envy of ownership, @hmp10!

I still love those special DE wheels!

Hey, I’m curious - what happens when the new car is worth less than what the old car was worth? I’m curious because I have “agreed value” coverage which values my DE at $191k, which it clearly isn’t going for, at which point taking the cash total loss is a better option and I would just buy a new DE. Was there a “cash” total loss payout option?

I just found your replacement car in online search. It is very well priced at very low mileage and look like well kept by dealership owner.

One of the things I worried about was how well the battery was tended during the time the car was off the road. The dealer told me that, since they sell Volvo EVs, they know about overcharging, phantom drain, low SOC, etc. With some help from Lucid, I was able to check the battery status a couple of times while the car was in the showroom, and it was kept between 70-80% SOC, just as the dealer said.

The car accumulated over 1,000 miles while at the dealer. I'm told it was driven by the owner who loved the car, and the only reason it wasn't driven more was the summer tires in a New Hampshire winter.
