You might have seen my issues with my wireless charger in my delivery post. The car ended up arriving with the charger working for phones without cases. I was adamant about it working with my case on (it’s designed for wireless charging) and, the kicker, both my test drive vehicles and the two showroom cars worked just fine. They tried swapping out the actual charging component, no luck. They put my phone in another car with a working charger and it worked. They took the charger from that car and put it in my car and didn’t work. Eventually, after a bunch of talking with the mechanics we were able to troubleshoot it to the actual plastic enclosure! Behind the enclosure the charging module snaps into place in the plastic with clips. It seems the clips on mine weren’t snug enough so when they put it back in the charging module was coming loose causing it to become too far away for my case to work. After replacing the plastic everything works!

Just a heads up in case you have issues with charging!

TL;DR wireless charger was fine, plastic bracket holding it in place was damaged causing the charger to not stay seated in the correct position.

Nice Sleuthing. Glad the service team kept at it until you were happy.

Thanks! They were great to work with. They shared my engineering enthusiasm for solving the issue. Really great team over there.

What phone and what case were you using?
My iPhone 12 with an OtterBox case does not charge unless I remove the case.
Maybe my car has the same problem?

My new car has this same problem, did you remove the charging module yourself or did techs do it?

Techs did it for free. I should note the charging is still a little finicky with positioning but it does work.

Consider a wedge or TWRAPS solution

Ordered mine a couple of days ago. Wanted to see how long I could work with the stock setup. Turns out, 2 and half months.
I have had mine since Feb. I have been having isssues with the phone overheating then stopping charging until it cools. Also unfortunate that there is only one built-in pad. I couldn’t tell in the vehicle, but is it easy to access the space underneath to store things with it installed or is it a hassle?

Yes, some phones overheat worse than others especially when they are on a flat surface. I designed the wedge with a little bit of room behind the phone so mine never gets too hot. As much as I think the TRWRAPS product is way more polished, I still like the wedge better.

Isn't here yet, I'll let you know. The video demo shows that it's possible to access underneath without removing it.

Hm, I haven't had any issues with overheating using the TWRAPS panel at all, though I guess I wouldn't be surprised if that happened to some. I wish they'd be able to reissue a new version using Qi2, as all my Qi2 chargers stay much cooler compared to the older MagSafe (I returned the original Anker MagGo battery cuz it would burn a hole in my pocket, but their new Qi2 one just gets slightly warm).

The panel is also relatively easy to to lift up, even with a phone connected to charge. I keep my sunglasses in a case underneat the TWRAPS charging panel, and have had no issues getting access to it when I need it.

They were saying the STOCK solution results in overheating, hence the reference to the single charging pad. The 'had mine since February' likely refers to when they acquired the vehicle (in response to my post).

Gotcha, I apologize for the misinformation. Shouldn't respond before my morning coffee :(

All good, I had to read it twice before starting my reply to you (which was delayed due to interruptions), then one more time to verify....and I was enjoying a coffee at the time!

When I attached my old iPhone 15 Pro to the wireless dock it would get really HOT and couldn't keep up with battery usage.
Started at 100% and would be at 60% after two hours or so (Running Apple Music & Waze)
Does anyone have issues with the phone overheating and not keeping charge?

I thought it was an issue with my phone. So new iPhone 16 Pro same issue??
Not sure if the wireless charger can output enough wattage to keep up?
Switches to a USB-c and there are NO issues??
I cannot believe it is good to run the iPhone that HOT for an extended time. (ie long drive)

When your phone reaches a certain temperature, charging will automatically be disabled. That’s likely what’s happening here.

You are correct that extended periods of high heat are not good for the phone. That’s why Apple built in this level of protection.

As to why it is getting so hot, I don’t know. Try a reboot of the phone, maybe?

I added your wedge on the right side so now I have the stock one and the wedge.
I use the wedge exclusively since it so much more convenient to just MagSafe it on and it seems to keep the phone cooler.
