I talked with Peter at the LA Auto Show for the Gravity. He mentioned the only reason for the limiter is the tires. Their testing early on had much higher speeds than the 168.Sorry, but this is just nonsense.
I drive the car at 100 to 142 miles an hour on the Autobahn every day. The Pure does the same speed and the GT goes 170 mph which I have also driven. There is no safety limit here.
The tires are rated for those speeds and above and the software limits are set by Lucid and that’s that. Depending on the wheel size, Lucid uses the same tires across their models.
To clarify, I'm not saying the safety limit is the exact speed set by Lucid. At least for the GT and GT-P, our conversation sounded safety related due to tires as a prevention for a higher cap. The car itself can handle the higher speeds and achieve them with the motors.
