Unlocking with mobile key unreliable

Apologies in advance for coming back to this thread, but it's often on my mind since opening the door to my lucid happens almost every day if not multiple times a day.
So.... To recap my situation, service said the car goes into a deep sleep and becomes un responsive to pressing the handle and in my case it's not unusual to have to press several handles to wake it up. So normal SOP for me, regardless of mobile key or fob, is to press driver handle, then rear driver side handle, then rear passenger handle and then it opens (as illustrated in the video at the front of this chain).
Ok so here's the odd thing. I started going straight for the rear passenger handle, and it opens- every time. I'll try going to the driver side and it won't open, but the rear passenger is consistent every time. Could there be connectivity issues between door handle and the system that unlocked the car? I have no clue. I'll continue to rain dance and update, but anyone else that has the same issue let me know if your car has a "favorite" door handle.
For me, it's the front passenger door, whose handle was replaced at some point when the motor broke. I've asked service a couple of times to see if the 'handles not waking the car' is potentially a hardware issue with the original handles given that the replaced handle is the only one that reliably wakes and unlocks the car. I even provides them a video of how mine work/don't work, but I keep being told they're functioning appropriately, so I've given up on trying.
 
I carry the Fob, as the Google Pixel phones, I have a 6, appear to have a comunication issue with the app. This has been explored in another thread.

I'm weighing in on the unlock for an "un"Thanksgiving. Here's a summary (with all of this data, I suspect software issues with several "race" conditions).

Here's some data.

The car is about a month old and has the 2.5 update.

A family member carries both an up-to-date iPhone and the fob in her purse. The car unlocks appropriately (on proximity) 50% of the time.

I have a Pixel 6 (Android, of course) and the car unlocks appropriately 90% of the time. I don't carry a fob.

The unlock problems are observed both in our garage and various parking lots. The garage has WiFi...the parking lots do not.

Here's a clue to a software problem: The purse with the iPhone and the fob tried to unlock the car while about 15 feet from home on Thanksgiving. No joy. So, I tried to use the Android phone app to unlock it. I got error messages from the app that it was taking too long.

While the Android app was waiting for the car to awaken, the proximity seemed to work from either the fob the iPhone or both. Maybe from the Kabuki rain dance. And while the car did indeed unlock, the app on my Android never noted that the car woke up. It kept telling me that it was taking too long.

There's probably a lot going on here and those are probably the reasons that so many Lucid customers are frustrated. But this in particular hints at software stepping on itself somewhere.

Respectful request to both Lucid and forum commentators: If you think there is a user oriented solution to this, could you please provide the link so that the rest of us can try it? Just asking us to look at some old post may not help if we cannot find that old post.

Carrying both fob and mobile key seems to be worse than either one, at least for some of us. Try tucking that fob in a faraday pouch. Assuming she's just holding onto it as a backup she can still take it out and use it if necessary. Both the fob and phone are talking to the same module in the car with Bluetooth, so it may be getting confused.

The service used to wake the car from the app also seems to be having intermittent issues recently where it just doesn't respond, I and others have reported it.

I'm just adding another factoid in the off chance that someone knows what I can be doing to get the car to wake up consistently. That factoid is this: I often get a message on my Pixel (Android) phone that says, " For the best Mobile Key experience, keep the Lucid mobile app running."

I looked in settings on my Android phone and I don't see any setting for the Lucid app to keep it running. There is a setting "Pause app activity if unused" but I don't have that turned on.

Bottom line: Waking up is unreliable,

What you need to do is go to the app selection menu- on my Samsung it's the sideways hamburger to the left of the home button and select the lucid app and tell it to stay opened. Screenshots attached if helpful. You'll see a lock on the icon if successful.

Thanks Pyle. I have something that looks a lot like that first screen shot. But nothing in the hamburger selection that allows me to keep the app open. All I have in the hamburger is::

I just now changed to to "Unrestricted" from "Optimized". Let's see if it makes a difference.
 
Sorry I wasn't clear. To bring up open apps on a pixel follow these directions, then tap on the lucid logo at the top of the screen to bring up the app monitoring menu.
  1. Swipe up from the bottom, hold, then let go.
    • If you’re on Android Go with 3-button navigation, tap Recent apps
  2. Swipe left or right to switch to the app you want to open.
  3. From this screen select the lucid app logo as highlighted below. You should see the prior menu that I screenshot'ed above
Tip: Another way to switch is to slide the Home button to the right. See an interactive tutorial on how to switch between apps.

I did not know that was an option. I am trying it too. See how it goes
 
I don't know (and don't care to learn) how my phone works.

I think half of my "early-adopter" problems (as Kyle has in his 2025 GT video review) with the mobile key were caused by not knowing the Lucid app was running in the background on my Android phone .
This is why the car kept unlocking / locking when I was near. The key fob, running on radio, was doing the same thing, but you can't "turn off the app" as on the phone, so you need to put the fob in a Faraday cage when you are near the car but do not want to enter, or remove the fob battery.

so, if you want to stand around your AIR and make a video : ( talking to you, Kyle )

1. turn the mobile phone Lucid app off. It's probably running in the background off- screen.
2. put your key fob in a Faraday cage.

As for problems folk have with the door handles not presenting when you are at the door with your fob or mobile key: the car doesn't like you. I haven't had this problem except when the fob battery is dead/weak. Wiping the new battery with IPA and keeping the fob in a Faraday cage (even in my house!) = no problems and fob battery last well over a year.

I'm not clear what you're trying to tell me. I have no problem getting to the Lucid app. I can get to it a number of ways. But once in the app, my Pixel 6 Android 14 doesn't let me see any on the screens you are suggesting. And, my Home button on the bottom of the screen doesn't look anything like the that in the screenshot you sent.

However, the option to allow Lucid to run in the background "Unrestricted" that I posted on Friday seems to be working. Yet, I think I still get a message from the Lucid app telling me to run it in the background.

No worries Science! I made a quick video on my Samsung that might help. Getting to open apps might be slightly different on the Pixel.
