And CR has always stated that the reliability & the fit & finish of Teslas is quite poor (borne out by their statistics which you conveniently omit), yet owners still stick with the company. That's fine, they acknowledge that. However Lucid owners & prospective owners are not looking for the kind of quality (or lack thereof) that Tesla offers. There is a huge difference in how these 2 cars are assembled.
Yes I agree with your point that CR has stated that teslas have some quality issues when surveying customers, which can easily be diagnosed and fixed over the air. This metric isn’t something that CR understands, which is why it’s contradictory to them being ranked #1 in customer satisfaction. If the problems were big and costs consumers a lot of money then satisfaction would have plummeted, but that’s not the case. Customers like me are quite happy bc Tesla took care of me and my needs whether it be software or sending out service technicians to my house. So to me the “satisfaction” metric year over year of ownership is what matters. I would never accept half the kind of issues Bill is complaining about. Do I think Lucid can overcome these hurdles? Let’s hope CR doesn’t test one of these vehicles out right now because it would be disaster. If these problems persists, Lucid has two options: halt production until the bugs are ironed out, or slow down production until the bugs are ironed out. Their delivery numbers for 2021 will give us some form of understanding into their internal workings.
