Software Improvements and Features Suggestions

Good point - wife's Genesis need a hard drive (would not accept a flash drive, and had to be USB-A (anyone remember that). I think they had some DOS software to create the image (great for an all Mac home). While I was able to do it in my driveway it took an hour and was super convoluted.
My Ioniq’s “over the air” updates have all been “over the USB stick” instead, too. lol

I'd like proximity sensing (mobile key) that doesn't leave me looking an idiot every time I walk up to the car and pushing handles and hoping something happens so that I can get into my hundred thousand $$$ car, or leaves me guessing if it locked when I left. I'd like to not look like in idiot in every parking lot, every time... it sorta harshes the luxury vibe in a huge way - it's a total buzz kill. This should not be rocket science. My Tesla just worked 100.0000% of the time.
I'll say this here and I'll say it again where appropriate. We have lots of delays unlocking and it's very, very annoying. Wish that Lucid would make a definitive statement about this.

Same happens with my grandkids in the car seat. I have been begging Lucid for more options for unlocking and unlocking since the beginning, such as a user selectable delay like you mentioned. It’s ridiculous that they can’t add a simple timer. I don’t like the idea that the car locks on my way from the passenger side rear seat to the driver side. I never get more than a foot from the car and have my phone with me. That said, your reaction is a bit overstated. Simply take your phone out of your pocket, wake it up and hold it to the window and the car will unlock again. Shouldn’t have to do that at all, though.

Some will respond that I should just carry the fob, but I don’t consider that a solution. I have zero other keys. My wife’s car also uses the same phone as a key functionality and works flawlessly, with multiple options. I’m shocked that Lucid hasn’t at least solved this problem for their newest Air models. The fact that they continue to sell this flawed functionality is very disappointing.
Lucid: Will you please do your customers the courtesy of making a formal statement about unlocking/locking?

Yes, they should get the software together to be a mass producer.

Unlocking - Still issue
Profile Switch - Still slow
Camera -Still lagging
Carplay - Still disconnects
Sound - Still buggy
So on and on, and still this is not addressed after 2years of my ownership. And i cannot comment that Lucid is slow, Software is not good(No one said but i feel that when i try to say something Lucid is not addressing properly the reception is not same as when i say something positive on Lucid)
I'll say it here again, Lucid, please respect your customers by issuing a formal explanation. What is the problem with consistent unlocking?

that update probably shouldn't count - it was a hotfix for a big OhGeez - I'm guessing NHTSA does not favor cars whose doors open on their own while driving

Maybe should use the Jan 30 update for the last time anything substantial was done?

Yeah this. That last update was an emergency since, you know, our rear doors shouldn't open on their own free will. If we're honest we've not had a meaningful update in a while. And I'm still waiting for my soft close to be fixed (which "broke" last year). The cadence has slowed dramatically, and it's probably because of the Gravity, but it's frustrating. There is an expectation, however unrealistic, that Lucid as a premium EV maker would provide OTA updates frequently, either to fix issues or introduce new functionality.

@Science Please re-read the guidelines. In particular, the following:
  • AVOID DUPLICATION: Please search the forum before you post, and do not post the same thing as someone else. Put your posts in the most appropriate sub-forum. Please do not post the same post in multiple threads; minor paraphrasing falls into this as well. Please refrain from “shouting” by posting an issue multiple times on multiple threads.

We’re lucky to have official Lucid presence here in the forums, directly listening to our feedback.

I have five software improvement suggestions, and I’m happy to elaborate on any of them if the below isn’t clear enough.

1- Speed limit: this feature temporarily adds a limit on the max speed the vehicle can reach, whether it’s manually set or automated based on the readings of traffic signs which is already integrated into the software (maybe add an option of relative/absolute offset to the max speed if it’s automated). I’ve seen this feature in some European cars, and it’s actually very useful, especially in a car so comfortable on the highway like our Lucid Air, that we don’t feel we’re going as fast as we actually do, and tend to realize we’re doing 90 mph on a 65 mph because it’s on smooth mode and we didn’t pay attention. Similar to ACC, the set-point of the speed limit can be adjusted easily using the controls on the steering wheel, or turned off to overtake another vehicle for example. Some of us still enjoy manually driving our vehicles and don’t completely rely on ACC/HA, and a speed limiter can help in avoiding unintentionally going above the speed limit (or 10 miles / 10% above that).

2- Auto reduction of music volume when opening the vehicle door: this is self explanatory. I think it’s respectful to others in public parking lots or our neighbors when my other EV does that (without naming names lol), I never thought of this feature until I experienced it, and I find myself trying to manually do it in my Lucid before opening my door.

3- Turn off the vehicle and climate control, and disconnect devices if all passengers have left the vehicle, based on the sensors in the seats. I sometimes remain in my garage after leaving my vehicle but it’s annoying when I discover that it’s still connected to my Lucid with all my audio being transferred to the sound system of the Lucid, while no one is still there, but the close proximity of the phone/key fob makes it think I’m still using the vehicle while I’m not. And vice versa, keep the vehicle and climate control turned on if there are passengers present inside the vehicle, without needing to turn on the (keep mode) in climate control. I think this only happens if someone is present in the front seats but not the rear seats (correct me if I’m wrong).

4- Display drive modes and regen settings in the center cockpit panel: add two small icons or text indicating smooth/swift/sprint drive mode and low/standard/high regen setting. To make it easy to read with a quick glance, maybe add a simple color along with the icon/text, green for smooth, yellow for swift and red for sprint, and something similar for regen braking setting. Looking downwards at the pilot screen to check which drive mode is on, and needing to tap on the existing driving mode to check the regen setting isn’t convenient and not in the line-of-sight of the driver. It’s safer and easier to read for the driver if it was available in the center cockpit panel.

5- Wake up the vehicle when pressing the manual release button on the trunk, similar to when pushing any of the door handles. This has been an issue for me, when approaching the vehicle from the back where it does automatically wake up, and I have stuff with me to put in the trunk, but pressing the manual release button doesn’t wake up the car, and I’m forced to go push one of the door handles to unlock it first. Minor inconvenience but it’d be great if it’s possible to implement it.
It would also be nice if the car camera's would record people vandalizing or hitting your car. I’ve owned my car for 10 days. It’s been keyed and hit in a parking lot.

Some kind of user definable shortcuts, so it's easy to do the 4 or 6 things you often hunt around different menus to do.

Ideally (probably never happen, but I can dream), move the "themes" screen somewhere else to free up a whole screen, and then let you customize that screen to contain whatever info/buttons you want. I'd love a screen that had drive mode, trip info, seat heating/cooling, steering wheel heat, trunk open/close, tire pressure, etc, etc. Being able to make this your "main" screen would be cool.

This would allow you to not have to hunt around different screens (especially while driving) to accomplish common tasks.

Jesus, where do you live?!

FWIW, the Gravity has three customizable buttons (one on the steering wheel, and two on the pilot panel), as well as reorganizable / hideable “dock” icons on the bottom of the pilot panel.

So while it doesn’t let you customize a whole screen (I love this idea!) it does have more customizability.

I have no idea if that’s coming to the Air, but I hope so.

let’s come all together in a zoom session and pray 🤲🏽 that UX 3 will come before end of April
Think you should should have posted this on April 1st 😂

Great to hear that, give us Air owners hope they might do something similar in a UX update. I'm still gonna dream about a fully customizable "user" screen :-)

I think April 2026 would be more likely!

Do you think this sticker this will help?

While bug fixes and OTAs on cars, especially EVs, are "way-of-life", Lucid's track record and (lack of) communication is sub-par (the most polite term I can come up with).

As the number of models/trims proliferates and different suppliers/components are used in different trims/models, such updates/OTAs can become very complicated unless there is a well-managed tracking algorithm. Look at the several recent OTAs followed by rapid successions of bugs, patches, and OTA bifurcations. All of these should have been flushed out in the SW validation process.

Yes, validations is not perfect either. But it is necessary to minimize the fits-and-starts.

Also, any word on AA? Is it still postured as a Google issue?

Listen, if Lucid were to thrive, it must get its act together on its SW!
At this point I would think it is pretty much entirely on Lucid. I have never heard any manufacturer waiting on months for AA approval. Maybe Google raised issues/concerns that Lucid had to fix, and the cycle repeated. It wouldn't have repeated unless Lucid kept doing a crappy job every iteration. Even $10K cars (and heck $500 head units) have AA these days.

You’re making a *whole lot* of assumptions here. I don’t know that you’re wrong, but you also don’t know that you’re right. Lots of reasons it could be taking a lot longer. For example:

1) Google has a queue that is prioritized by “number of devices affected,” and Lucid is going to be very low on that list

2) Lucid sent in AA right before a major version change by Google, requiring them to redo a ton of work and/or start over

3) Google and Lucid are struggling to agree to some contractual terms, around privacy or something else.

4) A dozen other reasons

I have no idea if any of them are true. But if we’re going to speculate, none of these are necessarily any more obviously true than the others.

Also, i am not sure on those $500 devices having AA is certified by Google or not.

Don't even get me started on GM's OTA clusterF. Every OTA landed my '24 Canyon in the shop with issues ranging from dead screens, constant crashes etc.. And good luck getting anything resembling release notes from GM. I stopped applying them once I felt the software was reasonably stable, new features be damned. I was almost happy when a deer totaled it (I say ALMOST because despite that craziness I really did like that truck).
