Software Improvements and Features Suggestions

I’m not sure the phone automatically switches to Apple Pay. You might be accidentally double tapping the button swinging it around! What I forgot to mention is that it’s also infuriating that the trunk won’t unlock from the back. Just today I had my grandson in one arm and a bag of stuff for the beach and the other… Can’t put it in the trunk without putting him down and walking around the side of the car. Don’t like that.

For what it's worth - which is not much - I was an IT Systems ProgrammerAnalyst/Architect for decades, so tech is not completely foreign to me :-)

Just went out to get my car washed and visit Home Depot and tried 6 times at different locations. I just hold (no pressing) my iPhone 16 Pro (IOS 18.4) over the camera on the center driver's pillar and Apple Pay pops up instantly, every time. Give it a try.

Agree, my go to after shopping is to get the trunk open when returning to the car (frunk not easy to get into once I pull into the garage, so trunk gets more daily use) and not being able to open it easily is the worst aspect of this mobile key behavior.

And while this is not the thread for this (same trip today though), after I left I noticed Sirius XM (in car) was garbled and sluggish and what seemed like 1/2 speed. Tried Carplay Sirius XM, same thing. Tried Apple Music via Carplay and USB music via USB stick, all identical issue. Had to pull over and do "air" reset, back to normal after that. I do hope they fix the audio issues, only happened to me a couple of time (no or garbled sound), but it's mildly inconvenient to have to pull over, though the reset does not take long.

Just tried it myself - yep Apple Pay popped right up.

I double clicked to pay... I wonder what my mystery gift will be and when it will arrive? Maybe I'll get extra minutes about 20 for a massage now?

Yeah, this checks out, the iPhone pops up the wallet automatically when it's brought near any NFC reader. That's used for transit cards and whatnot as well. The key card is NFC, and that thing in the A pillar is an NFC reader.

As long as you can unlock and get into your car by paying, you are already ahead of many of us! 😉

While bug fixes and OTAs on cars, especially EVs, are "way-of-life", Lucid's track record and (lack of) communication is sub-par (the most polite term I can come up with).

As the number of models/trims proliferates and different suppliers/components are used in different trims/models, such updates/OTAs can become very complicated unless there is a well-managed tracking algorithm. Look at the several recent OTAs followed by rapid successions of bugs, patches, and OTA bifurcations. All of these should have been flushed out in the SW validation process.

Yes, validations is not perfect either. But it is necessary to minimize the fits-and-starts.

Also, any word on AA? Is it still postured as a Google issue?

Listen, if Lucid were to thrive, it must get its act together on its SW!
Yes, they should get the software together to be a mass producer.

Unlocking - Still issue
Profile Switch - Still slow
Camera -Still lagging
Carplay - Still disconnects
Sound - Still buggy
So on and on, and still this is not addressed after 2years of my ownership. And i cannot comment that Lucid is slow, Software is not good(No one said but i feel that when i try to say something Lucid is not addressing properly the reception is not same as when i say something positive on Lucid)

Can you help me know what bug was fixed? It’s not hyperbole, everyone's needs are different. If you are happy with what Lucid is doing it’s good. I think nothing wrong in posting what is said.
“…an issue that may cause the rear doors to open if the driver presses unlock while the vehicle is stopped, and possibly if moving less than 1.2 miles per hour.”

“Lucid forgot about software” is literally untrue. I didn’t say I was happy with Lucid’s software progress.

But you can be both unhappy and wishing they moved faster, while simultaneously understanding that it isn’t that they a) don’t care, or b) “forgot about” or “are done with” software, or c) are incompetent.

I am an owner that purchased this car for driving and futures that are expected for a nee generation vehicle. I am just looking for new updates wither bug fixes or new set of future's little frequent than how it is today one month to 6 months long.
Cool. Not really sure what to tell you. I assure you, you want updates when they’re ready, and not just because it happens to be Friday. You’re not going to get nightly updates; that isn’t how production software releases for a vehicle work.

Lucid is in a space where OTA’s are expected, if we start saying what we get at purchase is what it is, than Lucid is not gonna sell millions like they expected.
I never said that. Clearly they are still releasing OTAs. Your assertion that they aren’t is false.

Its got me trained:

1- Use 2477 1 AH long life battery in fob in fake leather case.
2 - At Supermarket, push door handles first, then go to trunk and push button. Dot dash push of fob works extremly rarely, and I never use it.
3 - Carry card as emergency unlock.
4 - I have never been able to find the camera in the key fob unlock video. I suspect that video is of another model.
5 - Keep wifi off. That makes Sirius almost reliable. (Turning car off/on fixes most Sirius problems; 2 button + brake fixes the rest.)

BUT - Car looks great and its a pleasure to drive!!

So you want the statements to be literal, not something like “it seems” since is like i am expressing how slow they are.

I never asked a nightly update to your wording.
I am expressing that Lucid is slow in the OTA’s with bug fixes and new futures. Most of us here are from the software world and understand how this works at some extent.

I disagree with your idea of “how slow they are.” No, I don’t need every statement to be literal; that would be absurd.

I also don’t want hyperbole to take over. It has been 18 days since the last OTA. Maybe 19 depending on how you count timezones. It wasn’t one you cared about, okay. But that doesn’t mean it didn’t exist.

Again, it is clear Lucid is still working on OTAs. To say they don’t care or have “forgotten about software” isn’t just exaggeration, but is literally untrue, and gives other forum members, some of whom are considering a purchase, the wrong idea.

That was *me* exaggerating for effect. See how that works? It wasn’t literally true.

With all due respect, I don’t know anything about your background or that of “most of us here,” but I can assure you that based on the interactions I’ve had on this forum, no, “most of us here” do not understand how software is written or released. Some do.

I agree. In this case, we need to be transparent for all new owner to be on what bugs we have and how long we have been waiting.

And yes, i 100% believe and agree Lucid is working behind doors to squash the bugs and release new features(I kind of google search always when typing features to make sure o type it correct 😃). But the rate it's happening is what feels like forever(depends on individuals and their way of tolerance).

I thought it was a feature allowing Hey Lucid to eject people for making disparaging comments about the car...😅
Given the capabilities of "Hey Lucid" it would be a tall ask for it to comprehend that you were in fact complaining about the car! That feature was definitely a 5 steps backwards implementation.

It has been 18 days since the last OTA.
that update probably shouldn't count - it was a hotfix for a big OhGeez - I'm guessing NHTSA does not favor cars whose doors open on their own while driving

Maybe should use the Jan 30 update for the last time anything substantial was done?

Okay, we’ve hit on the crux of the matter. So, let me ask you: what cadence would “feel” appropriate?

You guys are so soft lol! My Audi doesn’t even do OTAS. You have to take it into the dealer for a software update, and apparently it is an extremely complicated, convoluted process. Every software update I’ve done has taken a minimum of two days and as many as seven days.

You must be new around here 🤣

Good point - wife's Genesis need a hard drive (would not accept a flash drive, and had to be USB-A (anyone remember that). I think they had some DOS software to create the image (great for an all Mac home). While I was able to do it in my driveway it took an hour and was super convoluted.
