Production started YAYYYYYYYYY!!!!

Yeah, I blame GM and Ford, they chickened and went NACS, then the whole industry followed, great job being chained to Musk! Thank you Detroit for this!
Blame the US government for failing to hold Volkswagen accountable for the abysmal network they delivered as part of the diesel scandal.

For years, people had been complaining, yet Pete Buttigieg appeared more concerned with planes and airline cancellations and outages than with urging Volkswagen to rectify the situation or face another fine.

Ford, General Motors, and other automakers had no choice but to comply. We can only hope that Elon Musk will eventually make a mistake by dictating something on the network that enrages so many people that the government will force the network’s sale due to the monopoly he holds.

I disagree. They could have held strong and not allowed a single company to monopolize the market. They succumbed to pressure, but they had a choice. Lucid held out as long as they could, but everyone was pushing them to do it because “everyone else did.”

If the first dominos hadn’t fallen, the rest would have stayed standing.

But whatever, the cable is thinner I guess, so cool. It’ll be adapter hell for a few years and then we’ll all forget about it anyway. It’s fine.

I disagree, it’s business. You have to also read between the lines. 7.5 billion was allocated to build infrastructure for electric charging in all the US states and Puerto Rico. The promise was to build by second half of 2020. But what happened? All the states were being given the funding and only four states as per the information d available build some stations. At the end it’s the inefficiency of the people who were elected to deliver on their promises. They get money ( truthfully) from the taxes we pay. But not many were built and may be 20k are on their way. As per their promise atleast 7 a day have to be built but where are we now. At the same time an independent company has built some thing more than the most powerful and m richest government. It just sores inefficiency because of which the dominos had to fall. At the end it’s a business and you be lazy by a minute you lose millions minimum.

That is not true.
The NEVI program is not behind schedule. Elon had to learn this too, apparently.

“This is helpful to understand” was his response. Cool. Glad he understands.

Exactly that’s what I said. 7.5 billion were allotted with a promise to be done by end of 2020. But they were not spent. Allotting and spent are different. That tweet is perfect for us to superficially believe it was not spend. But devil is always in the details.
They allowed it from tax pates money(or money) they fielded for green energy but they didn’t do what gas to be done bring busy with funding going solvent else without prioritizing their promises. Not following up with what they promised.
When a government promises and businesses invest towards it then at a later time the business realizes that the promises are just not even anywhere to be fulfilled they have to take steps to not lose what they worked for.
Nothing is free not a penny. I’m sure everybody on this forum knows that for sure. A multi dollar business can lose a million but not more than that. There are 100’s of families dependent on that business.
Devil is always in the details. Not in the PRADA😜

Yes they are far far behind schedule. Very inefficient in many ways

Did you read the tweets? They promised to build it out by 2030, not 2020. There are chargers in 9 states now (which does not mean 9 chargers). Moreover, the chargers are built by the states, not the fed. That takes time, and is dependent on the states.

The states are on track: https://www.fhwa.dot.gov/environment/nevi/

If you’re interested in more data and a map of where the chargers are going: https://pluginamerica.org/nevi-funding-tracking/

It’s fun and politically expedient to say it sucks, but it isn’t true.

You are absolutely correct regarding the plan to build by 2030. But

That what they said. Let’s take their statement in the way they portrayed, 2020 to 2024 December 24,800 underway. So in 4 years that’s the number. We have 6 years left if they still were in power. How much would that be. Even if we double it to 2028 them again double it it still no where near 500000.
I’m not supporting anybody here I’m just showing the inefficiencies in the citizen chosen people not working for the citizens.

I truly mean the following to be apolitical...

If we had a powerful Federal Government -- like in many European countries -- the Feds could have just built out the network (and all to one mandated standard). Instead, in our system, the money got allocated to the states and you have 50 different concepts of what to do with it, how to distribute it, where the chargers can and cannot go, what the local electrical codes are, etc. It IS a cluster F$%^, but NOT because the Federal Government is inefficient (or ineffective). If anyone cares to actually look deeply, the further and further we have gotten away from a strong Federal Government and pushed more and more of legislating our daily lives to the states, the more complicated, delayed and inefficient multi-state projects have become.

Not one charging station built on Long Island nor, if I’m reading the map correctly, proposed. How lovely. Can I have my share of those tax dollars back? 😳

Have you called your local representatives and asked why this is the case? What is causing the hold up? Who needs to be contacted to get this stuff moving forward? I have often done that in my own community (although admittedly not about this issue) and have found that it often works. We get the leaders we deserve and if we don’t hold them personally accountable we have only ourselves to blame.

There are other threads discussing NEVI funding and charging infrastructure. Please get this thread back to talking about Lucid's significant milestone of starting production. I would much rather speculate on how fast/slow Lucid will ramp production or when regulatory requirements are complete so that they can begin deliveries or when we will see final EPA numbers.

As a potential future Gravity owner, I am very, very pleased they decided to go with NACS. Very. I absolutely hate the CCS charging experience, and the ability to use SCs is without an adapter is awesome. IMO. In fact, it is one of the things that could pull me away from getting a Rivian R1T Tri Max.

I am not concerned about needing to use an adapter until Telsa opens the network to Lucid. I have used an adapter already at SCs, and it is easy. And it would only be temporary, and only when I want to use one of the horrible non-Tesla stations (once the SC network accepts Lucids, of course). I can handle it until then. NP. This is a first world problem for sure.

I still don’t think lucid will force you to use an adapter to charge the Gravity. But if you think they were dumb enough to do that, go for it man

We’ll see who’s digging their grave soon, now that press reviews are coming soon!
My friend, you’ll have to use an adapter if you want to charge at an Electrify America or other CCS station. The Gravity will have an NACS port. Currently, Gravity owners will not be able to charge at Tesla Superchargers (with the minor exception of those equipped with Magic Dock). We are all hoping that this will change, but unfortunately, the competition holds the keys.

Karma is holding VW responsible now, apparently ...

Any ideas what might Rawlinson mean by this?

"Amid the announcement [of Gravity production start], Lucid’s CEO teased that 'additional advances we have made' will be shared 'soon' — 'I believe Lucid Gravity is a groundbreaking vehicle. It offers a previously impossible combination of space for seven passengers and their luggage, and more than 440 miles of range. You can order yours now at our website. I look forward to soon sharing additional advances we have made. Watch this space.'"

One response, ‘It’s NY.’ I’ve got a better shot at parting the seas or the Hudson River. Remember, this is the state where the Lucid is STILL not listed in the Clean Pass eligibility list. I called about that a year ago. That’s the kind of response & action you get here.

You are most certainly right, you get the leaders you deserve, only I didn’t vote for these ‘leaders’. ;)

A better question would be what the “writer” of the article meant by it. This source is notorious for blending info seen on social media and being pure speculation. Wouldn’t trust it honestly.

If you find it elsewhere from a more credible source, then we can wonder more about it
