Does the DreamDrive Spatial Alerts feature require the Surreal Sound feature?

Can anyone say whether the number of each Air version produced this year is based on reservations or on quotas? I think quotas could explain why my Air Pure, reserved in Oct. before 17K reservations, wouldn’t be built until Q1’23, even if 20K Airs are produced this year.

I believe so. Stereo is left/right but can't tell you front/back.

I think a more accurate question is whether production is dictated by trim level regardless of reservation date or trim level with a cutoff date (so will Lucid only produce GTs reserved 2021 and earlier but not 2022 before producing T). To answer that, we just have to watch the GT batch tracking thread. Will Lucid stop confirming GT reservations or keep confirming to present day and when will T reservations start being confirmed. This will indicate how P will be handled.

BTW, you need to change your profile vehicle.

Thanks. I have been unable to noodle how to update my profile.

If they plan to deliver the first Touring in Q2, it is likely they will confirm Tourings soon - while confirming the remaining GTs as well simultaneously.

The Air without Surreal Sound has several speakers (11?) rather than just left and right.

The Touring comes standard with a 12-speaker system, with the option of the surround system (21 speaker audio).

You need to do a search on "stereo vs surround sound". The unit driving the speakers in a stereo system has 2 output channels - left and right. If you have 20 speakers, 10 will be driven by the L channel while the other 10 will be driven by the R channel. All the L channel speakers will be on the left side of the car and the R channel speakers will be on the right side. If you mixed them, you would not have what is called stereo separation. A properly set up system will have you perceive sound as coming from the left, center, or right (even when there are only 2 speakers). So even though there are speakers in front, to the side, and behind you, a stereo system can only change sound from side to side because all the speakers on 1 side of you will emit sound.

Surround sound - let's take the 7.1 form. We'll ignore the .1 because that is the subwoofer channel handling low frequency sound and it is non directional. The 7 represents the 7 channels that are being output (this is similar to going to a movie theatre where you hear sound coming from front left, front center, front right, left side, right side, left back, and right back. So the unit driving the speakers has 8 channels to handle powering the 8 speakers. If a train passes you on the right, the sound starts front right, goes to right side then right back so you hear the train approach, come beside you then go behind you. Atmos adds verticality so you can sense sound above you. So if the left rear cross traffic monitor alarms, you hear the speaker behind you on the left. In stereo, you only hear it is on the left side...assuming they enable notification like that.

Why are there 12 or 21 speakers? Separate speakers handle high, mid, and low frequencies and they are spread throughout the cabin.

So Surreal just adds Atmos and 9 more speakers?

And a mixer with enough channels to be able to separate the Atmos data.

You can have 80 speakers and still only have stereo left/right.

The important bit is the mixer supporting the ability to have many different channels of sound that is then driven to the various speakers.

If you look at @mnewber1 post, it says 12 speaker stereo. You're assuming the base system is surround sound. I'm assuming it's just stereo. If you think of DE and GT as MB S class equivalents, the T and P would be E class equivalents. The E class has surround sound as an option, standard is a stereo system. So under my assumption, Surreal adds atmos surround sound, more powerful amp, control unit capable of atmos surround sound, 9 speakers (one or two of which are probably subwoofers), and integration into DD Pro.

Just so I am clear,
So Surreal just adds Atmos and 9 more speakers?
