Out of Spec 2025 GT long term review

Took delivery of my GT 9/22. Had bad control module (supply-chain issue....anyone remember the Pandemic?) which was diagnosed by mobile service and replaced. NOT A SINGLE ISSUE SINCE.

Had key fob issues until I realized that whenever I was near the key fob was "talking" to the car = using up the fob battery and making the car "wake". I folded a piece of aluminum foil over the fob (and later got a Faraday pouchs for them) and have not had a problem since. Batteries last well over a year now.

Had Mobile Key issues until I learned how to work my phone and use the Lucid app. No issues since. Both fob and mobile key work as designed. Door handles present when I'm at the door every time.

Took me a while to find the best driving position, which still hides critical information behind top of steering wheel (AC and HA info). Set driver profile to store driver seat position. Set driver seat retract so driver seat moves all the way back automatically. Makes entry / egress easier.

The presenter outright said he's looking for reasons why Porsche is better. To facilitate this goal he's deliberately being ignorant = not done his research / read the manual, delved into the driver settings.

I'm done with this guy. How many times does he promote VW (Porsche) ? Does he go on incessantly about Lucid in his Porsche reviews ?

Also: for those newbees still having trouble with the fob: I fart in your general direction.

I was loving your post…until the last comment about newbies. Everyone’s a newbie at one point or another and I tend to prefer welcoming and educating them as opposed to deriding them. Builds community rather than fracturing it. Heck, I’m a newbie with all things Lucid myself at the moment. This is all said with positive intent…

If their key is not performing, how can they not break that contract?!?
Here’s my answer:
1: the fob works fine. Its main issue is that it doesn’t have easy to use buttons on it and the batteries have a tendency to die a little bit too quickly. Are you having a separate issue from that?
2. I’m not a lawyer, but when the CEO himself says that they are locked in a contract for the Air I have a tendency to believe him.
3. I’ve used Mobile Key for over a year now. My fobs only come out of their box when I am planning on using a valet, which is very seldom. Have you tried that? Yes, Mobile Key does not have the range of the fob and sometimes I have to stand next to my car for about one or two seconds and wait for it to unlock, but I had no other issue. Are you?

I am only responding to other posts on this topic as I have not yet taken delivery of my car so, no, I am not personally having an issue. I should be picking my car up in a week or two.

I use a mobile key exclusively. It works 95% of the time. Five percent of the time, I need to open the app, and the car unlocks. I don't unlock it from the app; I simply need to have it open.

I agree that Kyle pushes Porshe at every opportunity. I also don't think he had an easy entry and exit setup, as he complained about the seating position. He can be very critical of a vehicle—for example, his latest review of the Rivian. Even through all of that, it was generally positive from my standpoint. It could have been more positive, but it was still positive.

I really don't understand all the talk about the key fob. In the year or so of me having my AGT I have used the actual keyfob only a few times to open the car. the only time the car failed to open was when the battery in the fob was running low, a battery change fixed the issue.

The key fob issues have largely subsided but, as someone who has owned an Air since December 2021, I can assure you they were very real in the early days. Besides the times I stood in the rain trying to get the car to open, my most embarrassing episode was dropping someone off at an airport curb in front of a group of bystanders gawking at the car while I tried repeatedly to get back into it.

But the real problem for Lucid was that this happened to many car reviewers in the early days, and one article and video after another brought it up. The notion that the Air was a good car -- but only on those days you could get into it -- soon took hold and became almost a meme. Even months after Lucid began to get the problem in hand with software updates and other efforts, it was being referred to by reviewers with such outfits as "Consumer Reports", "Edmunds", auto magazines, and the more reputable YouTubers.

Having to replace the battery is silly, key fob is plain useless! Just give everyone a normal key fob instead of that ugly black plastic. I have my cat 2 years and still can’t remember the sequence of pushes to open doors/trunk/frunk.

Larger key fob with pictures and longer battery please for all AIR owners! Make us good!

Wonder whose idea this key fob was?

I’m still having issues!

My fob is mostly fine. I don't drive my Air every day, and I find the fob less finicky than using the phone as a key. Once in a while the door handles don't pop out when I walk up to the car, so I press the handle in to wake. It's not ideal, but the car has its other charms.

Click = lock
Click Click = unlock
Press and hold = frunk
Click, press and hold = trunk

This is in contrast to my Volvo EV key, which ALWAYS works. But if I want to lock or unlock the car with it manually, or open the rear hatch, I have to get out my reading classes to see which tiny side button to press. Not an issue with the Air.

I think the main issue that gets bad PR is they are both equally bad with how finicky the lucid is to unlock when you walk up to it. I don’t think reviewers keep the cars long enough to know anything about batteries dying too early.

I’ve said this many times, the key fob works reliably for me 99% of the time. Heaven forbid, that 1% of the time requires me to wait up to 2 seconds. How could anyone tolerate that degree of reliability? 😆

My guess is if reviewers are noticing it it’s because it happens more than 1 of 100 times. Me personally, it’s probably slow to open/unreliable 3/4 times and 1/4 times it opens reliably

I suffered through the whole thing (suffer is not the right word, just that it was really long!) and overall I found it to be exceptionally positive…

I’ve never understood why so many of us have such radically different experiences with what is essentially the same equipment. Trust me when I say I wasn’t embellishing in describing my fob success rate. But such radical differences in experience don’t seem to be restricted to just the key fob. Weird.

If you’re pushing your cat to unlock, that might be your problem. 😁

The fob works great for me. Sometimes I have to wait two or three seconds. Particularly if I’m approaching from the back of the car. Otherwise, the doors are open by the time I get to the car.

I do get the “Key fob not detected” message fairly often on my left center cockpit panel, but I can ignore it. It never makes me type in the PIN to drive.

I don't think it has anything to do with the app, I think it's just the time it takes to open it
