OTA update 2.1.42

No offense taken, but I'm generally confused as to why people keep telling me to get it checked as I would have thought that's the first thing people would have done. Common sense is not so common at times.

I think it's fair to compare to a Tesla. I've had a Tesla since 2013, at the time, it was much worse than Lucid is today. Being the only decent Evs at the time, it's tolerable. As technology advanced over the past decade and Tesla maturing, I guess, at least to me, it's no longer as tolerable. From Model S to Model X and now to Lucid, it felt like a downgrade for the software portion. With Tesla on every corner of the street, I still would prefer the Lucid, just hope they continue to make improvements to the software.

Nothing wrong with comparing to Tesla. I own both 2023 Lucid Air and 2023 Tesla which I compare these 2 cars all the time. Each has its own pros and cons. No perfect car. Lucid software as of today is just as good as Tesla in my opinion. The only thing I am hoping for on the Lucid are more features with future updates (sentry, always accessible garage door controls, media playback, etc).

as soon as i am done there are 3 popup as per charging alerts etc I will post the code still sorting it out and graphics are bit rough not much out there have to do screen grabs and clean them up trunk frunk open etc.... I started with a tesla project as a model but it is truning into its own child .....as all projects do!

Again thanks to

Awesome. I have been waiting on this. @borski alluded to this a month or so ago. Off I go to install it.

I'm curious why you say it's as good. Some of the guys here don't like Tesla comparisons. The ride and interior quality are superior, however, things I would love to see in the future are the following, which I thought, Tesla does better in.

1. The car should never lock while the key fob is inside the car. Learn this the hard way while assisting a person to the door of a casino. My phone was inside too, had to borrow a phone to unlock the door. My 2010 Camry doesn't even do that.
2. Sentry mode.
3. Automatically opening for garage or gates.
4. When backing out, you have to click exit out of the camera to access homelink. It's like they don't even test their product before implementing it.
5. Less glitchy connecting carplays.
6. More functions are available via the phone app.
7. Switching profile takes much longer.
8. Programming Homelink needs to be done on each profile.

Have a few others, but don't want to hijack the post. Due to these, I thought Tesla software was better. In my opinion. I know some people going to take this the wrong way, but I still love the Lucid. Just being honest.

I think we mostly dislike unnecessary bashing of people's hard work.

You make good points, but there's no need to be harsh. They've shown that they're listening to our complaints. The software has come a long way and I have no doubt it'll keep getting better.

woah - how did you do that?
Same way I did this ;)

The door symbols change color to yellow if the various doors are unlocked or open.

Happy to share the lovelace code once it's finished, and once I get the other details added (charging, etc.)

I'll make a new thread for the Home Assistant stuff later tonight.

You left out the biggest thing in my opinion which is its navigation and responsiveness. But good list. I could also add lots to it but we will leave it at that.

Did you make it? Add the option to turn all the lights off!

The car does not lock while the key fob or a mobile key is inside the car. If you pressed in the handle, the car would have opened, as it would have 'seen' either your fob or mobile key.

2. Sentry mode.
Lucid doesn't have the feature; hard to argue Tesla does it "better." But sure, I also agree I want it, and I know Lucid is working on it.

3. Automatically opening for garage or gates.
I'm certain they will add this.

I do not understand why everybody makes such a ruckus about this point. I do it every day, and I swear if I got annoyed at all of the things like this tiny annoyance I would give myself a lobotomy to ease the pain lol. But either way, they are aware of it and will fix it eventually.

5. Less glitchy connecting carplays.
Fascinating. I suppose "doesn't exist" is technically less glitchy than "exists," just by definition, but that's a weird flex.

6. More functions are available via the phone app.
Like?

7. Switching profile takes much longer.
True. This is due to the way profiles are implemented as a security feature in Android Automotive. This won't be an issue with Gravity.

8. Programming Homelink needs to be done on each profile.
Same answer as #7. Homelink is part of the profile on AAOS, and the separate profile are kept very separate on AAOS. I understand they're trying to find ways to workaround the limitation, but haven't gotten there yet.

I think that the functions look very useful, but I desire for the graphics to look more lucid like. Is that in the works?
Nope. It looks like the rest of my Home Assistant. You are welcome to install your own Home Assistant, theme it however you want, and do your bidding with the entities. This is my UI. Yours is up to you, but I'm happy to share the code for mine if you want to crib parts of it or whatever!

Thanks! I do need to prepare for our soon to be arriving air.

Tesla wins on software features when compared to Lucid. Period! No argument here. Those that want to get upset when people point out issues with Lucid and think Lucid is perfect, let them think that. Only harm is to Lucid unfortunately because a product can not improve without feed back from owners. Some people get upset and don’t even own a Lucid or Tesla in this forum.

With that being said, when I said Lucid software is just as good as Tesla, I am referring to:

Layout of the UI. I like the Lucid UI more. Well thought out. Less busy, more simple especially when you are driving you don’t want to dive deep into menus. Larger menus icons compared to Tesla.

Software stability. Might be just me, but I have never needed to reset the software on the Lucid. I had to reset the Tesla on delivery day! No joke.

Option to set level of regen. Tesla does not have option to do this. The regen is too light on the Tesla and I find myself having to use the brakes more often. I rarely have to use brakes on the Lucid as my regen is set on high.

Accuracy of distance to object. Tesla’s vision only on the distance to an object to the car is a joke. I can’t trust it as it is all over the place. This is both software and hardware win for the Lucid.

In regards to your list.

1) Tesla has better phone key reliability. You are correct on this. It might be the way the physical handles are designed. I push on my model x and it opens. I push on my Lucid door handles, the handles may or may not flip up. On my model x, the door handles are just a button. Simple.

2) Yes, Lucid needs a version of sentry mode. Tesla software has more features when compared to Lucid. Tesla wins on software features (ie glove box pin option, dog/camping mode, sentry, media options, etc).

3) Same as 2). Tesla has more features in its software.

4) Fully agree on this. This should be an easy OTA fix. Get the garage door button always on top of other windows! The software design team obviously overlooked this. Maybe they don’t have a garage that they drive in and out of everyday? In fact, a lot of people do not have a garage. A recent report shows that Americans are not switching to EVs as fast as expected because most people don’t have a private garage.

5) Tesla doesn’t have CarPlay. I don’t have much issues with CarPlay probably because I like the UI on the Lucid so I don’t use CarPlay much.

6) Same as 2), more software features on Tesla.

7) I do not switch profiles much for this to matter to me.

8) Only program it once for each profile no? Not much a nuisance for me since once programmed you don’t have to program it again.

Don’t be afraid to say things you don’t like about the Lucid. It will only help improve the product. Nothing wrong with that. And if you don’t even own a Lucid and have a lot of opinions, I just ignore those comments.

We don't need to keep rehashing this topic as in the end, it really comes down to personal preference, what you expect from your vehicle, what you want from your vehicle, and how well these features have been implemented. Let's keep this on the topic of this specific OTA, or at least try to.

So many phone issues with 2.1.42. I sent an email to CS the other day, but earlier today was a joke. My wife called me and I couldn't hear her. She called back and I still couldn't hear her. I called her and I could hear her, but she couldn't hear me. Tried one more time and neither of us could hear each other. I just used my phone's speakerphone at that point. I then tried to reconnect to the car during the call and heard nothing, so disconnected the Bluetooth again to finish our conversation. What the heck did they do to the Bluetooth integration with the phone in this update?

Um, that's really not normal lol - 2.1.42 fixed every audio problem I had. Are you using CarPlay for the phone call?

If a logo reset doesn't fix it, you'll likely need to schedule a service visit as this is the first I've heard of any issues with that.

Nope, Android here. Never had a phone issue until this latest update. What I had been having was not being able hear the other party. Usually fixed with hanging up and trying again. Never had the issue I described above. And other people earlier in this thread have reported similar phone issues I believe, hence why I posted it here.

Ah, I misunderstood - I thought you were saying it was a CarPlay issue because that audio bug got fixed in this. My bad. Carry on. I have no idea, lol.
