Air - Touring
I ordered a Lucid Air Touring about 6 weeks ago and I am becoming increasingly frustrated with the process and the lack of transparency.
I am paying cash so no financing issues.
I was contacted by the "sales rep" who clearly needs some training in customer service. About 2-3 weeks into the order he emailed me to clarify if I did a 'custom' order or not. He initially told me production would take approximately 5 weeks, but now 6 weeks later he simply says he has no idea when production will start.
He always says he tried calling me but I have never once received a telephone call from him.
I honestly feel like this is some type of scam and the whole thing is making me lose faith in a product I was once very excited to be a part of.

Has anyone else had a similar experience?
And for those of you who custom designed their car, how long did the process take?

Thanks in advance. I'm hoping to hang on, but I am close to pulling the trigger and just losing my deposit. This has been a less than stellar experience so far.

Hi, @Shrews. I just sent you a DM.

Not a scam, hang in there, its worth every bit of fustration- best car I ever bought! Don't let this get in the way of experiencing a magnificent piece of engineering. Nothing comes close. I thought of buying a used Ferrari as a dream car, don't care about a Ferrari anymore....this car is that good!

Sounds like you got a bad apple - I’ll bet mcr16 will be able to assist! I was a fairly early touring buyer and they were all custom back then.. and the wait was literally years!! But, as stated by others, totally worth it

I have had a very responsive, enthusiastic customer service experience.. Both in sales and in service requests since buying the car.. Way better than I got at audi or jeep

If you decide to cancel, check the terms of your deposit and see if you can get a refund. Be sure to review any cancellation policies carefully.

I cancelled twice (for various reasons related to in-stock vehicle availability and the accompanying credit) before pulling the trigger and they refunded my deposit no questions asked both times.

have people had better experience with their local studio SA or the call center SAs? Are there actually call center SAs or they just re-route you to your nearest studio?

was calling call center sales the best way to check available inventory over their website? Website is so painful to use. Feel its not accurate, the sort doesn't work well either.

The website worked great for me (including sort) - I found it to be accurate and that's how I found my car and placed my order was through the website inventory. Weeks before that I was in the my local Lucid Studio and the Sales Specialist I was working with and I were checking inventory together on the website, so even the sales staff uses it too.

On the website, can you view the inventory at a specific location (like Chicago, McLean, Roswell)? If so, can you explain how? I have not found this information but often initially struggle finding many things on the Lucid website.

I ordered my car online in 2021. I didn't take delivery until July 2023 so I'm not going to be a good reference on 'amount of time' I actually ended up taking a higher model with more options (in my case an AWD Pure instead of RWD only and it has the coveted SSP and DDP)
