Ordering and Delivery: Lucid Air Grand Touring

She is my new DA, after my original DA left Lucid a month or so ago. I emailed her on Tuesday afternoon, she replied within an hour or so.
I’ll try the email route. She used to be more responsive via text….. probably learned her lesson about that and creating expectations of immediate replies :)

Reply from Jess: I've heard its a mixture of things! Paint color, location, order date, etc. We also just upped our already high quality standards, so things did get pushed back a little bit. However, it should not be a significant delay at all.

I find the location excuse to be a red herring. I’ve heard from numerous Seattle folks that already have taken delivery. And several people here have confirmation data well after mine with vins already….

It's more impacted by exterior/interior color choice and wheel size. Such as the 20" wheels are delayed till December 2022, the silver color was delayed until this month, greys were significantly delayed, etc.

That’s my suspicion. I have zenith red 21”.
Confirm Mar 16. Seems like they have moved to white/sliver/grey color batching.

March 1 for Red have just begun to get VINs, I hope you receive yours soon!

Anyone here have Jess as DA? She was super responsive via text but have not heard peep after texting her for last four days - like to give her benefit of the doubt and chalk it up to the holiday vacation……
She's also my DA. she's great when it comes to miscellaneous things. She just wouldn't tell me what's happening with my car or give me an ETA.

Thanks. I’m glad to see everyone getting vins tbh. Good sign for lucid as company and customers. I try to remember that and be patient. Otherwise too easy to fall into spiral of negativity and conspiracies.

Yes very by the book in terms of revealing critical company info.

I did. She was very good. I did experience a bit of laps in communication from time to time, but over all she did her best given what limited information she had to share. The DA's get a bad rap on this forum as they are the only commination we have with Lucid until delivery. I do hope the information process improves with time.

We also just upped our already high quality standards
Seriously??? How much higher do they need to go? Seems there are major issues with the quality coming off the line if this is on top of the enhanced PDI

She can't provide you with information she doesn't have. When she got information on my order she shared it right away. I don't believe any of the DA's are intentionally withholding information.

What do you expect her to say, we just upped our low quality standards? The negatively on this forum is deafening!!

Even when I got my car I was told the checks they do during the PDI are extreme and Lucid won't release a car to the customer with the slightest issue because the words I were told are "the standards are that high". Since then, the enhanced PDI has come out so clearly the original standards weren't that high and now there is another change to the enhanced PDI. So what did they go from? High, Higher to Highest?

I'm just calling out a comment that doesn't align with the messaging Lucid has been telling customers all along. Quality is of the upmost importance according to Peter. So all us of who got our cars released through PDI and Enhanced PDI have missed other quality checks? Call it negative but when a company repeatedly says they're all about quality and then keep changing the quality inspection then they should be called out on it because clearly it wasn't that good in the first place. If cars are getting produced that need so many quality checks at the end of the line something is clearly wrong.

Lucid does themselves no favors with all the mixed messaging they're telling existing \ future owners. I have my car, doesn't bother me if a future owner gets their car in a week or 3 months but I feel for all the future owners who just seem to be getting screwed over with cars being held up quality checks and getting mixed messaging depending on the DA you get.

I don't know about you but if Lucid said they had enhanced PDI before and now have even more standards, it doesn't mean they weren't trying before but found discrepancies and are trying to fix them and I commend them for it.

This right here is why it keeps changing. Improvement only comes from learning from previous mistakes. It's also why Lucid wants to hear about every single issue owners are having no matter how small to fix the issue prior to customers receiving cars.

I think the whole PDI process changed, not only the details of the process, but also where the procedures are performed. I believe Lucid recognized that it wasn't really the best idea to have the bulk of those inspections performed at the Service Centers prior to final delivery and shifted many of the procedures (as well as augmenting same) to Casa Grande where the resources and parts access might be better. I think the whole process was overhauled to yield not only a better final result, but one that was more efficient in the longer term. There is more than one way to get from point A to point B and they had to make that transition. I look at it as an evolution and I would expect that we might see even more changes in the future as they learn and adapt.

Agree. They are now doing PDI in Casa Grande and that makes much more sense. That is why they shut everything down in May /June. They cleaned up all the PDI at the service centers and kept the cars at the factory until everything was was all completed. That took about 6-8 weeks. Now things should run more smoothly. The inspection at the service centers are only for things that might have been damaged during transport. Mine literally took 3 hours from the time they called me to say it had arrived to the time they said it passed inspection and was ready for delivery.

Cosmos Silver deliveries are now projected for Q4. Color harmonization delays with suppliers.

Maybe that's what those new air conditioned tents are for?
