My Biggest Concern with Gravity

Here's my understanding of AZ law: Arizona mandates that insurers offer a $0 deductible for windshields as part of comprehensive coverage and that fling a windshield claim in Arizona will not increase your insurance premiums, as it's not considered a driver fault incident
My carrier apparently didn't get a memo about the above.
No fault means they don’t raise your rates. But not offering you a discount isn’t raising the rates…

I feel your pain, but the only pain I like is pain au chocolate.

Write the state insurance commissioner. It’s literally their job. It works.

Yes, I could've taken that route, like bunnylebowski, but I just walked, switching to actually one of the carriers that you'd recommended.
And the surprise thing was my premium went down.
So a belated thank-you to you.

Yes, so many ways they can get back at you.
As stated, "grey zone" exists, so just beware.

My insurance carrier did not raise my premium but declined to give me a discount because I had submitted too many rock chip repair claims.
These were rock chip repairs, not windshield replacement.
Had I known that they would be counted against my records, I'd have gladly paid out of pocket since these are relatively minor expenses.
So my take away from this experience is: even though the laws is so black and white for glass coverage in Az, my insurance carrier still managed to find a gray zone.
This is in the context of no other type of claims, none, with this carrier in the preceding years.
So frustrating. I’ve paid for repairs myself for just this reason…they find a way to get you. 😢

@borski, who do you recommend? I renew in August and would love to ship around. Thanks!
I had great experiences with GEICO, but now I recommend any of the HNW insurers: PURE, Chubb, Cincinnati, Nationwide Private Client

How are those of you with Airs dealing with the glass roof? Do you have family members who don't like it?
I am in phoenix and have had my Air GT since December 2022. It was 100+ 113 consecutive days last year and 110+ 61 days. It is hot here! My lucid regularly says it is 138+ in the car already this year. I have tinting, not sure what kind as it was done by the previous owner, and it is still super hot. I got the sunshades that lucid sells and it is a noticeable difference. I used to hate getting in the car in the summer because even if the car was cooled down I felt the sun on me. The shades make it noticeably cooler and there is no glaring sun but still has the open feel that the glass roof provides. I saw you question drooping, there is none and the shades have been in for over a year (I never took them out this “winter”).

As a baker, that joke never gets old to me 😂

I know this is a crazy concern considering it is one of the differentiating features of Lucid, but I don't think I can get past the glass roof. Personally, I don't mind it, but my wife hates glass roofs. If I have the panoramic roof shade open when she gets in, she immediately closes it.

I can't get a car that she will only ride in at night. LOL.

From what I understand, Gravity may have a metal roof option in the future. However, it appears the model I would buy, the GT with just about every option, is only available with a glass roof right now. And I expect the metal roof might only be available on the Touring model when it is released later next year. But that model is going to be missing all the great things I love about the Gravity.

Has anyone tried covering the glass with vinyl to block the sun? I have read that putting reflective vinyl on glass roofs can cause them to crack in the summer heat. It seems strange that would happen since the sun is reflected more, but I guess it causes extreme heat build-up.

Any advice from Air people?
100% agree. In hot climates and in over 40 years of driving I NEVER use sunroofs as it’s too fricking hot in triple digit Southern climates.
