Lucid Charging 2/5/25 Required Action!

asking in all seriousness .. what do you find to be the issue with the temporary hold that goes away by itself? when you say 'rack up', you're not actually being charged for the hold. it shouldn't appear on your statement or require you to pay any of it.
When I put 30k on the card for an international trip and was thus close to the limit. Had to pay down $1k before the bill is due so that my credit limit is freed up. I use my limits fully for the 30-60 day grace and keeping the cash earning interest. Before you ask, the card company just upped my limits a couple of months ago at my request so I could charge the trip. the holds as “potential” charges affect the limits.

Ah yes, that does make sense. And it seems like 75 is a lot to hold for idle fees ?

The average battery size on Lucid’s are 20% to 30% higher compared to other cars. May be this is the reason they opted to hold $75. Lets say in my case, i can fill in over 125kw for full charge at a 58cent per kw which is technically near $75

Battery size doesn’t matter for idle fees. It is only time based. They don’t charge more to idle for larger batteries.

I don't think it is to cover idle fee, i am talking only about the possible KW max usage on a Lucid.

I have free charging. The only charge would be the idle so it is definitely a hold for the idle. BTW…. 8 days and the holds are still there.

Lucid is not separating accounts with free charging and accounts without. They are going flat on all accounts.
Coming to hold, it depends on the card you used. My master card has a 7days hold and my Visa card has 4days hold from what i observed.

They did not set up two separate systems. The hold is for the *charging session*. That you happen to have it for free is great, but the hold does not take that into account. It is much much simpler to just hold the same amount for everyone and then release it.

And to be fair, most people don’t use EA every day, so most people don’t have a ton of holds on their card all the time.

But it may annoy some, yeah. Once the free charging ends, it’ll get replaced with a real charge within a couple days so there won’t be any issues.
