Hi – I honestly can’t stop dwelling on this. As previously mentioned, I was asked to drive my leased Air 4 hours to the nearest service center just to duplicate the suspension clunk in person, with no guarantee they’d keep it or provide a loaner. I did forget to mention that I waited over a month just to get that response, when I thought I was waiting for parts that were supposedly on order.
Why should I have to road trip my leased car just to get it looked at? Why should I have to road trip my car that’s having handling issues? I mean I’ve literally mentioned how it’s impossible to keep centered in my lane while driving down the highway - yet I’m asked to drive it 4 hours to the nearest service center?! I’ve already duplicated the issue numerous times, both in person and on video. If changing the struts didn’t fix it the first time, then I don’t know – maybe it’s time to look at and replace the steering rack, sway bar, wheel bearing, literally anything else?
Any suggestions on what I should do next or who I can contact? What do I need to do for this to be taken seriously? I really don’t want to be a Karen here, but I’m over halfway through my lease now and still haven’t been able to enjoy the ride. It handles terribly, and the suspension sounds like a toolbox orgy.
I regret leasing a Lucid at this point.
Hi, mustafam1.
Today, I took my 2023 Lucid Air Pure AWD in to Lucid service for the clunking noise heard on the left side of frontend suspension experienced over certain road conditions.
The technician got behind the wheel and I, in the passenger front seat of the car, and we drove around for at least 20 minutes trying to replicate the noise. However, no such luck.
I thought since I previously shared with Service Center and technical support team information about other Lucid owners having had similar experience, that car would be physically checked for whatever is causing this clunking noise. No. The technician wanted to hear the noise for himself (which I can fully understand and appreciate from his point of view). However, this still does not address the issue. So, I accepted the fact that when this condition occurs again, I will note the time, where and when I experience this clunking noise so that the next time I bring the car in for service, I will have a data point from which to complain and insist upon the technicians' further investigation.
Since the complaint is already on file and as experienced by other Lucid Air owners, I am less concerned as to what specific part in the frontend suspension is at fault. All I care about is that this condition should be investigated before it becomes a bigger issue. At the time I brought the car in, it may have appeared a minor item to the tech who told me that they were "busy", but I was not put off by the simple fact that I had an appointment and my complaint warranted the time and attention to identify and correct whatever the deficiency is in the front suspension. Suffice it to say, I will record the very next time I experience this noise and use the evidence with which to demand service technician put the car on a lift to physically exam adequacy of all integral parts therein, with or without a road test to try to replicate clunking noise.
Do not despair. This clunking noise I have experienced over certain road conditions is no joke. Neither am I. We paid good money for these cars. I will not except no less than the best both in the car's performance, which by the way, I am ecstatically pleased with, and in the service that we should all expect under warranty.
Stay tuned...
