The Gravity will be our first EV.

We know absolutely nothing about EVs and need to install a home charger.

I was leaning towards just picking up a Tesla charger but figured I'd ask for a recommendations before ordering something.

For your Gravity (congrats by the way), I think you are correct in going with a Tesla
charger. It’s a solid charger and I have seen very few complaints about them.

I bought the Tesla Universal Home Charger for my Gravity and it works great...It's also great to have the backwards compatibility to charge non-NACS vehicles (such as the Air) should you end up with a rental Air if your car goes in for service.

Charge point worked out well for me

Congrats on the Gravity! I am partial to bigger is better. I was looking at the Lucid 80 Amp but it’s backordered. I bought the Autel Maxi charger. Still 80Amp (or can be set lower) and is later tech than the Lucid. Take a look.

Did somebody call me?? Oh V2H? Yeah over 3 years waiting for me but I've been assured its coming soon!!

I’d go with the Lucid branded one, because it’s so damn pretty and will have V2H coming soon!

Hahahaha! Hi ya Lefty! We have all heard the countless stories of an unnamed high level Lucid executive assuring the poster, that V2H will be coming in a couple weeks, couple months, or by the end of the quarter. I haven't heard one recently though...🤔

Just a couple of months ago I was told by a senior executive that it will be here before year end. As you mentioned scal we have heard this many times before. That said, I do like the LCHCS very much; it does a quick job of charging my Dream.

Holy moly. $1200?!!

Worth every penny ;)

Yep, these aren't cheap. Here's an Enphase charger that can be integrated into an Enphase solar system that can charge with excess solar production - $1176

Here's an article regarding the not yet released Enphase Bi-directional charger. They estimate the cost to be $4K-$5K. Let's hope Lucid makes good on their promise to have bi-directional charging on their home EVSE.

Looks like the best move is to wait on anything bi directional.

I guess we'll just get a Tesla charger, and make sure all the wiring and breaker is overkill.

Your wiring and breaker should support 100 amps. You may need a new subpanel but totally worth doing it now instead of later. Consider a 240V outlet with mobile charger as a temporary as you wait - cheaper and you'll have something while traveling.
