Gravity Orders Discussion

Yes, there are a lot of these. Clearly click bait. I've been reporting these videos as misinformation to YouTube. More votes will help.
Yes I just reported a bunch of them.

More reviews:
  • MotorTrend. Includes a driving video.
  • Car and Driver. No video. Also gets a number of little things wrong (e.g. saying the Dynamic Handling package comes with three 22/23" wheels) and the prices listed don't match the website.
These reviews all have common themes of great handling, performance, comfort, confidence and interior space, with concerns about software in general. Glad Peter called this out recently and put changes in place to improve the pace of progress.

A few notes for those who find Kyle too long-winded to watch ;)
  • 2-level motor mounts reduce NVH compared to Air (motor whine)
Holy sugar! I know that you're new here @RD7 but as the only semi-active person on this forum (I think) who got their Air on day 1 (10/30/21) this was the first thing I complained about and was vilified (along with a select other who concurred) by others on this forum, including moderators (I love you all) who told me the whine was intentional and they liked it! Yuk! But to each their own and my parting shot (you can find the threads) was that if Gravity had the same whine then I was wrong but if that was addressed then I was right! So 🫴 🎤🫳💥

It was intentional, and I still like it. I will miss it in the gravity. You’re still wrong, I’m still right, and wahhhhh 😭

You must have that serum you throw on your computer screen that can transcribe the invisible ink that I used in my previous post that said,
"on this forum, including moderators (I'm looking at your @borski) who told me the whine was intentional "
Also, don't forget this, ever: @Tesla2Lucid is ALWAYS RIGHT! ;)

Both of you are NOT right. The motor whine in the Air was intentional but its volume was too loud. The whine is still present in the Gravity, just at a lower level. I think I will find it a perfect balance.

I must be the only one who wants more whine to come through.
OMG, here we go again! Time to hijack the thread and I know that @borski & @Adnillien love a good hijack! Oh, and if it is whine that you want, I can do a lot of that!o_O

Has anyone heard of a timeline for orders to open up for Europe, or is that already a thing?

Well, they addressed it in the 2025 model Airs as well, so pretty sure even if it was originally considered by Lucid to be a “feature,” at the end of the day they decided that enough folks did not like it (or at least not as much of it) and they changed the mounts. The 2025’s are night and day quieter…

I'm still noodling over which wheels to get on the Gravity, and I just noticed on the Tire Rack site that their mobile tire installation service can only handle wheels up to 22" diameter. I called my local tire shop, and they can handle the 23" wheels, but I'm wondering how hard it might be to get a tire changed on those wheels if you have a flat on the road out in the boonies?

I have the biggest wheels on my order for now, but I think it's increasingly likely I'll pull back to the midsize for so many reasons:
  • smoother ride
  • lower chance of bent rims
  • tire availability (this is a major point, i don't know how many tires are even available for the largest rim)
  • all-season tires
I just wish the middle ones looked better. Hard to tell with those inserts in there - I would almost certainly pull them out but I'd love to be able to see what they look like without the inserts. I don't know if there are any photos in existence of them without the inserts.

That's kinda where I am. My order spec'd out the mid-size wheels for some of the same reasons. But the biggest reason is they seemed to be more aero than the largest wheels and thus less drag on range. I do not want the all-season tires that come on them, but Pirelli does have the P Zero tires in the necessary sizes.

But they are also the least attractive to me, so I was taking a relook at the smallest sizes, which I think look better. Unfortunately, I could not find any hi-performance summer tires that would fit on both axles (which is why I was on the Tire Rack website when I came across that note about mounting tires on 23" wheels).

So, what to do . . . what to do?

What about some regular Non-EV tires? Like Ultra High Performance All-Seasons with low aspect ratio? Would that give more options, sometimes the cars are more fun without max grip.

I selected the 20/21s as I am coming from a Tesla MS with 21" low profile tires that, coupled with very tight Tesla sir suspension, results in a pretty busy ride with a lot of tire noise. Based on the video reviews that all have cars with the 22/23s, I think I over-corrected and the 21/22s may be the best choice. I can't change it now anyway, so I'll wait until I get my test drive to decide.

I recommend watching this review from the Autopian. At 12:46 there is an interview with David Flint, head of Lucid UX, who demonstrated a much more complete (and working) UI than I have seen before. The steering wheel gesture controls were working and he even showed how to open the glovebox! ;)
If you swipe down from the top of the screen you get a quick actions panel that has the glovebox control and many others. Also includes a button to lower the headrests in the back, something I was hoping was going to be there after I saw the limited view out the back window when reviewers were driving.

I was planning on ordering with the range wheels in black, but likely would buy a 2nd set of the 21/22s in silver, since you can't get them with the stealth package, and I actually dislike black wheels on the daily practical cars. Then for Chicago weather have the option of winter and summer sets in the future...
