Was going to order online, but decided to go in and just sit in the car and see. Was @ Valley Fair studio. Ask about what my chances of converting to a DE order since there's a 450 limit. They went and check with regional manager and said I ordered in store (right now), they can do it. So I did. Which leads me to wonder... If there's only 450 DEs, how and I still able to get one this late in the process. I can't believe all 450 are not already spoken for. So either there's no much uptake to convert GT orders to DE or something else is going on. I'm glad I'm able to get one. I was not expecting to be able to place an order for the DE, and was just going to be happy with GT reservation. Glad we decided to goto the Studio today. Win!! Said it'll take a couple of days, but I should get the DE notification via email. Also, glad to get DE because of the current HUD shortage.

I can only speculate, but I don't think the brand has a high awareness yet. They are also probably planning on having some orders back out for a variety of reasons, so orders placed will likely exceed those fulfilled.

Something similar happened with the Air Dream Edition. Almost a year after I reserved an Air Dream I talked my financial advisor into switching his Air GT order to a Dream is if he still could. He called and was able to switch. Even as the Air was going into production, some people on the waiting list for Dreams were able to get them.

However, as the price increase for a Gravity Dream is only about half the premium for an Air Dream and the build number is less (450 vs. 520 for the Air), I am a bit surprised that allocations are still available.

Maybe it's just that buyers of people/cargo haulers don't really see the need for over a thousand horsepower, especially when the GT already delivers numbers that would have shamed an exotic car not too many years ago?

I’m one of the “late DEs” for the Air. Ordered my GT 9/7/21, upgraded to DE 10/6/21, VIN assigned 12/8/21, delivered 1/19/22.
