Gravity Orders Discussion

Thank you. You are right. I just reviewed my email and it was the same one. It’s been sooooo long. Any new post regarding gravity seems like an exciting new one.

The silence from Lucid ever since opening orders three weeks ago is just growing more defeaning. Still no EPA numbers for the various wheel and suspension options. No word on the differences between the Grand Touring and Touring. No explanation for the delay or how long it will be before Lunar Titanium becomes available. No press reviews. No dates for test drives or even showroom viewings. No even rough ballpark figures from delivery advisors on when vehicles might be delivered.

It really does seem the only thing that drove the timing of opening orders was the Q3 earning call and stock price considerations. I can't divine any other reason for expecting customers to put in orders -- not reservations, mind you, but actual orders -- with so much information missing.

Yeah, it’s a little disappointing tbh. I’d expect this behavior for a reservation not for an order with production imminent. It’s December next week and the silence has turned something that should’ve been exciting to quite lackluster.

This is why I'm OK waiting "longer" for Lunar Titanium. I feel like it will have an opportunity to catch up.

Has anyone who placed a GGT order heard anything from Lucid other than a brief introduction from the sales rep? I asked, via email and SMS, about financing options and rough delivery date. Have not received a response. Not even “we’re not sure yet.” Just crickets….

Nope……. Crickets

Out of Spec Reviews (YouTube) said in their wrap-up review of the Air that they were getting access to a Gravity to drive right about now. I assume this will be one of the early production models. Hopefully, some third-party reviews from them and others will be forthcoming very soon.
Review by throttle house and top gear would be much appreciated even if it’s a little later than somebody who compares the car by driving it at 0% battery and talking about clients which has nothing to do about the car and other unimportant things. I do appreciate his knowledge selling attitude but not his statements without supportable evidence.
I might be wrong with my observation but I do wish he gets better with his feature films with better editing and sticking to the review of the car

"Feature" films require scripting, rewriting, multiple takes. What we are seeing is mostly raw footage, which does not lend itself to editing.

I’ma lay person who watches movies not somebody with real in-depth knowledge of movie making. A different and very busy profession. Thank you for the enlightening response. I thought the Blair witch project was a feature film just realized it was not.

The Blair Witch Project was a movie for which the screenwriters developed a 35-page screenplay with the dialogue to be improvised; so while the dialogue wasn’t scripted, the movie absolutely was.

Moreover, about 20 hours of footage was shot, which was edited down to 82 minutes. The editing process took more than 8 months.

The fact that it seemed like a single shot (effectively) just means they did an incredible job. They also shot four alternate endings, though they ended up going with the original.

Video editing is hard. I hate it. It’s much easier to just remove any silence or offtopic commentary and post it on YouTube than it is to provide a “feature film” like Throttle House does. They put an insane amount of time into their work, and it’s noticeable; that’s why I love watching their stuff so much, and have trouble getting through Kyle’s. It’s nothing against him; I just don’t want to watch three hours that should’ve been 25 minutes.

I hope I didn’t offend anyone who loves Kyle’s reviews. My intention was to get a review about gravity from professional people who work hard to put things together. I ( my personal take) felt his team didn’t justify their conclusions and didn’t work hard to really put the video. Just by concluding a video by saying I felt lucid was better but you put it almost at the end of the row and then don’t really explain the real circumstances as to what leads to it. Totally biased and not accepting the mistakes is a typical attitude of laziness.

Looks like everyone is turning against the OOS team. He was one of the original reviewers to show over 400 miles out of the early Airs when Edmunds, car and driver, and others said it wasn’t good.

Recently he also pissed off the Rivian fan base by comparing the R1T to the Cybertruck and spending most of the time complaining about software and poor charging in the Rivian (even as he built his name and brand through his own Rivian!).

Wonder if he’s creating a bias towards Tesla and Porsche these days

This is typical Kyle though and nothing new from him. He tends to have a flavor of the month car and then all the others are compared to it. Used to be Tesla, Rivian and now it seems Porsche.

I do think he does do fair and honest reviews (sometimes goes a little hard on minor things). Even in the recent Lucid one he admitted he was nit picking. My only frustration with OOS at the moment is the videos seem to be getting longer and longer and most of it is just Kyle blurting out whatever knowledge that’s in his head. I tend to just skip through most of them these days but clearly his followers want those types of videos otherwise they’d be cut down 25 mins which is all they really should be.

I have nothing against OOS or Kyle or anyone else. He and I have texted a few times and I sent him some photos; he's a nice guy. Literally nothing against him.

I just don't have the time to watch that much footage lol. A script, or at least a rough outline, might be beneficial for everyone involved.

I just went to the Lucid Motors website and found the Gravity order configurator is gone and all the Gravity data is given in metrics. What's up?

This is now what you see where the "Design Yours" button had been:

I just downloaded the Firefox browser and tried it instead of the Safari browser I normally use. The configurator is up on Firefox, so the problem seems to be with the Safari browser.
