Ordered Grand Touring on 7 November 2024, swapping for Dream Edition, ordered 26 February 2025. Think of it as the color of peanut butter (assuming you like peanut butter) and it’ll never look orange again. I have the Zenith Red/Tahoe combination Air and it’s “lovingly” known as the PB&J by many at LucidI had my SA switch over my Gravity reservation to a DE just now. Stellar White (couldn't do the green), 22/23 wheels, and to avoid one life regret (leaving value on the table), I'll be introducing another life regret by sucking up and doing the Tahoe interior. I'm hoping after a few days of ownership that I won't feel overwhelming nausea looking at the orange tone any longer. I've consoled myself with the fact that the carpets are at least black unlike with the Airs
.
I have upgraded to the DE for maximum robustness. If you've submitted a Grand Touring reservation and are replacing it with the Dream Edition, please reply here so I can remove your reservation from the Grand Touring list.
Still on the fence. It’s not a sports car so probably won’t handle like one or even my GT, plus that loss of Range. Decisions decisions.
Ah good to know. Of course my other dilemma is that since I’ll be picking up the Gravity to replace the Air I also will replace the wife’s aging Range Rover Velar with a sedan to go in the other direction since the Gravity will now be the all purpose hauler. I am looking at a Bentley GT coupe. You would be surprised how many that are 1-3 years old for sale with less than 5000 miles. But that is still a weighty purchase on top of the Gravity at about the same time frame. First world problems right? The first part of an addiction ( to high performance autos) is admitting it. I might need a 12 step programDuring his test drive of the Gravity, Kyle Conner of "Out of Spec Motoring" said he was surprised to say it, but the Gravity out-handled the Air. And just before filming he had returned a long-term Air loaner on which he and his crew put 15,000 miles.
But the more in-depth driving review was in a "Carmudgeon" podcast with Jason Cammissa, who had driven the Gravity the same day as Conner. He said that Lucid has joined Porsche as the only other manufacturer to do rear-wheel steering right. He concluded his discussion of Lucid chassis and suspension engineering by saying that the Gravity actually made the sports car category obsolete in terms of both power and handling.
As impossible as it sounds, range may be the only thing you are giving up with a Gravity compared to an Air or a sports car.

I am also debating the range drop from 450 for the gravity GT with 20” tires to the 370 range of the dream edition. Does anyone know the tire size of the dream edition and whether we can still choose wheel size that will get a bit more range?
The Dream Edition is offered with the same 21/22" and 22/23" options as the Gravity Grand Touring, wearing the same tires. (It is not offered with the 20/21" Gravity wheels, and there is no information as to why. Brake clearance? Greater power load? Something else?)
All three of the Gravity wheel/tire packages have the same tire widths. The mileage variances seem to arise from some combination of weight, tire characteristics, and wheel aerodynamics that is impossible to unravel without more information from Lucid.
Given that the Hankook Ion EVO AS trounces other tires on efficiency in every test I've seen, I think a lot of the 20/21" 450-mile range comes from the tires and that the range would drop, perhaps significantly, were any other tire put on those wheels. Inversely, if the Hankooks were available for the 21/22" or 22/23" wheels (they aren't), you'd probably see a significant range increase in those packages.
The 21/22" wheels appear to have a much more aero design than the 22/23" wheels, yet they provide the same range with the respective tires that come on them. I suspect that means that the efficiency of the Pirelli P Zeros (which score quite well on that metric in independent tire tests) somewhat offsets the aero loss of those larger wheels, and it is the lower efficiency of the Michelin Primacy Tour AS that keeps the mid-size wheel range the same as with the sportier large-size wheel. (In an interview some months ago, Derek Jenkins said that the 22/23" wheels were not provided with aero blades as the range loss from the open design was "not significant" . . . whatever that means.)
Bottom line: to have any idea of how switching tires on any of the three wheel choices would affect range requires a lot more information than we have. And, due to Lucid's choice to stagger the diameters as well as the width of the wheels, there are relatively few tires available on each configuration to switch for experimentation.
Although I've ordered the 22/23" wheels on our Dream, I'm thinking about switching to the 21/22" wheels as the Pirelli P Zeros are available for both those wheel sets, so I could retain a lot of the Pirelli's traction and efficiency while perhaps gaining a bit softer ride and impact protection.
Working out the puts and takes for wheel/tire choices on the Gravity is a real head scratcher.
They are still taking donations when you pick the color black, purluxe premium interior or wheel size other than 22/23. D1ck move in my opinion.
At least there is some more choice this time around. I don't really consider it a dick move. I did not pick the largest wheels and am fine with paying the all in price. They are still taking donations when you pick the color black, purluxe premium interior or wheel size other than 22/23. If you get 22/23 dream you are fine, getting smaller wheels is like throwing $$ away. Can go 22/23 and buy light weight 20s same cost as going 20/21 from factory. At least there is some more choice this time around. I don't really consider it a dick move. 100% agree. If they made more choices available based on feedback then all the better. Everyone prioritizes differently, and if it’s worth it to them they will be happy with what they choose regardless. At least there is some more choice this time around.
