Gravity Delivery Discussion

Took delivery today! Only one keyfob but otherwise smooth. This forum is pretty accurate :) overall vehicle seems amazing, haven’t driven it much yet so still getting used to it, fidgeting with settings etc. but did some quick highway acceleration and lane changes and it’s just ridiculously easy and smooth. Hud is definitely meh at the moment, I might turn it off for now. Blinker stalk is a bit farther than my brain thinks it should be but I’ll get used to it.

I used the delivery checklist, really appreciated having that.

Beautiful in white 😍 Congratulations!! 🎉

I am in NJ. Ordered my Gravity back in August. The docs fee is also listed as $525
For new orders it is $525 now. My original order was made last year and I switched to an inventory car. In the order document, they intentionally omitted the documentation fee. Had I known, I would have kept my original order. I prefer Ojai over Tahoe, but accepted the inventory with Tahoe. There is also a $223 processing fee which was never mentioned and I have no idea what it is for. Note that this is not registration fee, as it is a separate item.

I am picking up the car tomorrow in East Rutherford. I am expecting the car to drive well, this is what I paid for. Other than that, don’t feel excited and don’t feel talking about it. They could have made the buying experience much better, but chose not to. In my opinion, they are penny wise and pound foolish.

I'm sure this has been covered already, but is there anything I should be doing in preparation for my pickup tomorrow? I will have checklists, but.... download Lucid app? (actually I've done this but I understand there's nothing I can do to connect it until I'm on-site) Instructions I should ask beforehand (like, what software rev and key firmware are installed, maybe give them a head start?) Any accounts to set up for Tesla charging, etc?

You can log in through the Lucid site and add a card to your Lucid wallet (in your Account Info) to enable plug and charge. If you're going to do the Tesla subscription for cheaper Supercharging you could get the Tesla app and set that up if you haven't yet (and someone can correct me but I think you want to not have a payment in Lucid in that case).

I hope Lucid adds passthrough for the Tesla subscription some time because we plan on getting the charging plan off and on to make the rates cheaper.

Definitely make sure to check you’re on 3.3.5 for car and confirm with them they updated fob. Sadly, there’s no way for you to know about fob without asking.

Yes, download Lucid app, you need it to confirm when car is connected. Make sure you know your username and password for Lucid as I think I had to enter that in car (don’t remember)…

I recommend culling through checklist for a top 10. They’ll take as much time as you need, but each item on the list doesn’t require equal time, so prioritization is key (no pun intended!). For example, there’s almost no chance you’ll hear the seat squeak during delivery, but you absolutely want to open and close the funk at least five times as that’s been a common issue reported here. Also, absolutely try both key cars AND, when you try them, make sure the fob is out of range of the car completely to really test. Had to ask my SA to leave the fob on a table far from car.

So excited for you and can’t wait to hear how it goes!

I utilized this extensive checklist which took me 2 hours, so pick & choose what you want to test
Gravity Delivery Day Checklist
  • USB for HaloSecure formatted in FAT32 or exFAT
  • Tell SA to not have them install front plate bracket (unless you want them to)
  • Have the delivery advisor (DA) program all key fobs & cards (purchase extra CR2450 battery to leave in the Gravity glove compartment)
  • Recommend toggling off these alerts, unless you don't mind getting constant alerts while driving
    • DreamDrive > Drive Assist > Safety Features
      • Posted Speed Update Alert
      • Distracted Driver Alert
      • Drowsy Driver Alert

Likewise. My DE is at the Roswell, GA service center. I see no updates and get the same error on the webpage.
I had the same error until day of delivery.

what USB drive are people getting for the HaloSecure?

By opening and closing the frunk 5 times, what am I looking for? I assume just that it opens and closes on the first try each time? I know some people have a double press issue. If it passes, can I assume my latch is ok or do I need to worry about it even afterwards? Are people really getting stranded by frunks that won’t close?

No, folks are definitely not getting stranded by that. But nothing you can test at delivery is going to be the thing that strands you (folks being truly stranded is really, really rare - even with the bugs). If your fob just won’t work at delivery, you’re not going to drive the car away. So I don’t think your metric should be “will this item strand me”.

Yes, you’re looking for it to open cleanly, the first time, each time. Doing it several times is needed as the latch doesn’t always “catch” every time. I am suggesting delivery because then it’s easy to put it on your due bill. You can also just wait until after delivery and, if it’s an issue, they’ll obviously fix it.

Really, the only thing I can think of that you have to check would be paint, alignment of panels, trim etc as they may not fix that as easily once you drive away since anything could scratch, chip it, etc. Otherwise, all things on the lists can be adjusted post delivery and you’ll be fine.

I am sensitive to the frunk because I found the issue at delivery, they “fixed” it at delivery, I tested it twice at the time - fine. Got home, didn’t open first time, etc. They then “fixed” it again when it went to SC, but go it home and didn’t work…so, still waiting on it.

You seem confident - I hope you are right. I know there's the possibility of ending up in limp mode, which, if I am miles from home, is essentially stranded.... I am planning to take my Gravity on a relatively long drive (~2 hours each way) and overnighter this weekend, and I'd hate to end up with a problem.

I do need as much as possible to be buttoned up at delivery. It takes me 1.5-2 hours to get to Tysons from home. It's not an easy jaunt to have anything repaired, unless it's something that can be addressed by mobile service.

“Hopeful” may be a better word than confident!

Totally understand the concerns.

two quick questions -- how long does it take to ship a car from the factory to Tysons, VA, and how long does the dealership typically keep the car before scheduling delivery?

There’s no typical answer. Sorry. It can take as little four days (as far as I’ve heard) to get it across the country to over a month. If it’s actually left the factory and is on a transport with multiple cars for Tysons specifically - under a week. But getting out of the factory can take a while.

As for PDI, again, can take two days - but there are folks here whose cars have been at their local SCs for much longer. Depends on many variables like how many Gravity are prepping for delivery, how many are in service, etc.

If it were me (and it once was!), I’d be happy with two weeks from the time it actually is on a transport on its way, to you taking delivery.

Just scheduled my GDE delivery for Friday afternoon.

FYI for others waiting: I received notice that my car was built and awaiting transit on October 8 (13 days ago), then "on its way" to Tysons on Oct. 13th (8 days ago). I was told today that it was "on site and ready to schedule delivery." According to my SA, the car has not yet been inspected on site, but he was comfortable scheduling delivery for 3 days from now, indicating a rather quick PDI process, at least at this site. (fingers crossed they don't find any issues)

Also, the docs fee is now $800 - even if your contract said $75 when you signed the order. I'm told there is nothing anyone can do about it, it comes from corporate, case closed, no negotiations. I think it's a pretty annoying money grab, but what can I do? Just leaves an annoying taste....

Anyways, a mix of super excitement, apprehension that I'm going to get a high-functioning vehicle, and annoyance with the latest fee hit.... but I'm almost there! This time next week I'll be driving a Gravity around!
@pezpunk - this is my Tysons timeline. Picking up today. Hope this is a helpful data point.

When they deliver the car to your home, is it just the delivery driver dropping it off? Then you get a vehicle orientation with a Lucid tech online? That's the impression I get from the Costa Mesa.

What happens if I decline delivery for one reason or another?

Picked up my gravity from East Rutherford today. The car and the app both show software version 3.3.2 and say it is up to date. When asked why not 3.3.5, was told that they may select which cars to push out new version. One issue discovered there was that the driver side passenger window sunshade doesn’t go all the way up. Waited there for about an hour and half (went to nearby shopping center) for them to fix. They took the door panel off and found that the motor needs to be replaced.

Tried DD2 pro on the way home, it appears that it doesn’t seem to handle exit from highway. It drove straight at full speed very near the exit, I had to intervene in fear of missing the exit. Maybe I didn’t use it correctly? In any case, lots to learn and figure out.

OK...you guys on here have convinced the key fob issues are indeed getting better and a lot of the false alarm bugs are now gone with v3.3.5

Time to go order this beast...heading to the studio to convince myself the SA I'm now dealing with(the previous one, an engineer, retired :( ) isn't a dumbass and place an order!

I have not seen a “key fob not detected” message since installing 3.3.5. I know others have gotten a some sporadically but it’s definitely improved.

Only false alert has been “AR HUD limited” which I guess it’s not lying as the AR doesn’t exist 😂
