Gravity Delivery Discussion

Visiting friends and family in Irvine, CA this week. I stopped off at Costa Mesa, CA to have the key fob programmed for 3.3.5. They need to update just the keyfob software. Everything operates just fine. I feel the door unlock and lock seems a little quicker.
Met a person picking up a green Gravity GT. We spoke for a little and talked about my great experience. He was excited to trade in his 4 year old Air Dream for the Gravity his wife drives. I have some time tomorrow to meet for coffee in Tustin or Irvine. DM me if you wish.

Wow! @boydracing you might be the first one in the forum to get the 3.3.5 KEY FOB updated at the service center?
If you dont mind, after a day or two of drives, please tell us more about your post-update experience.

I've seen a lot of chatter here from people trying to accelerate delivery, often swapping to an orphaned vehicle that doesn't quite match their preferred config. I'm wondering if anyone has tried to delay delivery? I'm told my batch number is due to go into production this week. I'm guessing that means delivery by the end of November. My Gravity GT would be our only vehicle, and I'm not thrilled by the state of problems being reported on the various threads here. So I'm about to call my SA, and see if it's possible to push back in line a bit, and shoot for a late December order. I'm guessing he'll say that if we push me back, then I may not get a vehicle this year, losing the potential to take the $7500 leasing incentive.
Yes. We delayed delivery of our second GGT. The challenging piece is the ramp up is real, and they wouldn’t just let us purely defer as there’s no setting in the system for it. So we had to change to Lunar Titanium (for now) as it’s not being made so the system wouldn’t batch it and we’d just be “on the side” for now.

Otherwise, we were told, the system wouldn’t batch keep assigning us to a batch - there’s not a way to just be on hold.

Lucid was excellent and very understanding of my wife’s concerns regarding bugs given our experience with our first GGT.

I was able to reach someone in the sales team (my SA is apparently on vacation). The sales system now says that my vehicle is supposed to go into production on Oct 28th. The person I talked to thinks there's no possibility of it starting earlier, and catching me by surprise. So I do have another week to wait and see what people report with 3.3.5.

If I do decide that a Gravity isn't yet stable enough for me to own one, the sales team has no ability to push me back in the build queue. The sales person said that the production team gives them updates on production, but sales has no ability to communicate back. So the choice is basically to accept start of production, or just completely cancel the order.

At this point if I do cancel my order, I'm not sure whether I'd come back to a Gravity later or not. There's so much I like about the vehicle. But I do have a functioning Toyota Highlander which is meeting my needs. If I cancel now, I may just wait until the '27 model year, figuring there will be countless undisclosed improvements made to hardware reliability, and the software team will hopefully be in much better shape. And Lucid will not be without competition. I'd probably cross shop against things like the BMW iX3 next year, as long range road trips is one of my top capabilities.
You can go back in the queue by changing your color to Lunar Titanium. Then, when ready, just change back to the color you want. Now, when they start making LT, then you want be able to delay any further. Just posted about it.

We have put 270,000 miles combined on the two Model S Teslas we had starting in 2014. On 70 mph roads I usually set the cruise at 79mph. So the most I am comfortable driving at a stretch is 200 miles but usually we do 150 mile intervals. I drive down to 10% which means we are always charging at a highr speed in the lower part of the battery. I think with the Gravity the difference will be rest stops not involving charging and faster charging stops.
The other nice thing about the Gravity is the charge rate stays high “deeper” into the battery. So, to your point, noticeably faster charging stops! 🔋

Not sure if this has already seen discussed elsewhere, but is it generally true that range disparity between small and large wheels declines with speed?
Yes. From the EPA docs:

1761055736521.webp

The energy use per mile is proportional to F0+F1*mph+F2*mph^2. The F2 term will dominate at high speeds and it is only 3% different between wheel sizes.
The F0 term and F2 term are equal at ~40mph so that's where aerodynamic losses begin to dominate. At 80mph the F2 term is 4x the F0 term.

Just scheduled my GDE delivery for Friday afternoon.

FYI for others waiting: I received notice that my car was built and awaiting transit on October 8 (13 days ago), then "on its way" to Tysons on Oct. 13th (8 days ago). I was told today that it was "on site and ready to schedule delivery." According to my SA, the car has not yet been inspected on site, but he was comfortable scheduling delivery for 3 days from now, indicating a rather quick PDI process, at least at this site. (fingers crossed they don't find any issues)

Also, the docs fee is now $800 - even if your contract said $75 when you signed the order. I'm told there is nothing anyone can do about it, it comes from corporate, case closed, no negotiations. I think it's a pretty annoying money grab, but what can I do? Just leaves an annoying taste....

Anyways, a mix of super excitement, apprehension that I'm going to get a high-functioning vehicle, and annoyance with the latest fee hit.... but I'm almost there! This time next week I'll be driving a Gravity around!

They keep teasing me with my PDI, by updating the software all the time. It’s been over three weeks since it’s been sitting at the Scottsdale service center. I’ll be calling over there and maybe I can speak to a delivery specialist. Or I may just talk to my SA and have them call.

I switched to an inventory car (AG, Tahoe, 5 seats, 20/21, DD2 pro, SS, dynamic handling, comfort pkg, power) and have a scheduled delivery this Thursday in New Jersey. Have the same complaint, documentation fee was $75 when I ordered and now they are charging $525. This is more than any dealer charges in New Jersey. There was also a processing fee of $225 which was never mentioned before. Do folks who got their cars before have to pay the same or this is new?

Are you seeing this on your Lucid dashboard? I’m not seeing my updates on my iPad.

Talked to my SA about the increase of documentation fee. He asked me if I have a screenshot of the original documentation fee when I made the order. Of course I don't have. Would appreciate if earlier buyers could share how much they paid for documentation fee, especially in New Jersey.

The original documentation fee is shown on the original order contract you should have received as a .pdf document from Lucid Sales <[email protected]> via email minutes after you placed you order.

You will not see any updates until you pick up your car
That’s not entirely correct. You can see software updates to the car prior to delivery. Couldn’t read the release notes several months ago, but could see each update and the date. I don’t know when it becomes possible - post factory gate? But many of us have been able to see software updates. I don’t recall exactly where, but it was via the online Dashboard somewhere.

Since I took delivery, I’ve not checked it. Pre-delivery, I was checking it about 50 times a day.

I picked my Gravity up this morning and I have been checking for updates since it was in production (yes about 50 times a day) staff at Lucid informed me this morning that updates could not be seen until car was Bluetooth to my phone and the Lucid app

We picked up our Quantum Grey GGT at Tyson's today! Really love the color; it is an iridescent purple in lots of light. Not a dull grey by any means. I like the Yosemite and its very light dusty grey/blue tone. Manny (?) our delivery advisor was very knowledgeable about the car. We only stumped him on one question (where is the apparatus for firefighters to turn off the battery in case of fire?).

My husband was nice and let me drive it home. I had to take the beltway to DC in rush hour, so I didn't really get to drive the car, though. And yes, unfortunately we have to park on the streets of DC most of the time. The no key fob detected, please shake to wake up popped up 2 x but I just had to shake it and it was fine. The car is on the latest software and firmware.
Tysons had about 20 Gravities. About 1/2 assigned, 1/2 available. Someone drove by when I was parked and asked if the Gravities are ready to order. So they are recognized.

On my original order, the doc fee is listed as $525. I'm in NJ. I ordered 9/3/2025.

I assume you mean seeing available updates in your Lucid phone app or in the vehicle, not on the web dashboard. My GGT (with Tech Pkg) is still "In Production" on my dashboard, but you can see that they have loaded software, with the latest being 3.3.2. Not even past the factory gate, yet this info is nevertheless being displayed. I hope this is a sign that I'll be in "Preparing for Delivery" soon.
