Gravity Delivery Discussion

I don’t think the SA have a clue. I’m often finding this forum has collectively more insight than any SA.

I had to teach my SA how to fold down the rear seats and let him know that the steering wheel controls are swipe capable when he tried correcting me that they are push button only.
Sounds like a brand new SA or fairly new.
The skill level and knowledge will vary among SAs; no different from any car company's sales staff.
Also, based on forum posts, some SAs seem more proactive and customer-focused than others; true for most customer service staff.

I started with one SA last year and I could tell just from the first interaction that I needed someone who knew their job and knew how to provide good customer service.
Fortunately, someone on the forum just happen to suggest an SA to work with at the location. Perhaps they had the same experience I did.
I made the change and have been very pleased.

Also, depending on how much time an SA has had with a Gravity, they are still learning the features.

When I had my test drive a few weeks ago, I asked the SA on the test drive if he could put the car into creep mode.
He said, the car had just arrived at the location the night before and he hadn't had much time to go through and learn the car.
He was leasing an Air, but as we know, the UI is different on a Gravity.
Also, another SA had done something to mess up the movement of the backseats and they had to get a Lucid tech flown in to correct the issue so the car would be available for test drives that started the next day.

Lucid doesn't do their SAs justice.
I know it's been said before, but it's a new company and they definitely have more learning to do.
I have no idea what their training program is like, but I've dealt with crappy sales people at established brands, so longevity is no guarantee of good service either.
Love my SA.
She's upfront when she isn't sure about something.
As @borski likes to say ... YMMV.

Agreed there are stars and duds in every role in every industry. It was early in the gravity test drive tour to be fair. I went on my 5 minute 23 second test drive with him a few days later, still was not impressed with him. Agree HQ needs to do a better job informing the front line. Hard to compete with up to the minute knowledge from the enthusiast zealots on this forum so I try to be understanding.

If anyone in Bay Area likes their SA let me know. I don’t want to out the poor guy but I’m underwhelmed at every interaction.

Could be. I was just trying to figure out why we haven’t seen and GT deliveries yet even though they have apparently built quite a few already.

The DE delays make sense to me. It’s pretty clear that it wasn’t something planned and they made a last minute pivot due to supply chain constraints. This explains why the CARB certification wasn’t in place. But the GTs have been planned for a long while and they would have already had the CARB certification for them …
They may want to deliver a few DEs first before the GGTs with no HUD. My sense is they have a lot more GGTs with no HUD than GDEs. I DO think they want to deliver some GDEs first. Either way, they badly need to book all the income they can by 6/30.

So true.
This forum is the real deal!

In addition to the knowledge here, one of the best features is the structured content. Reddit seems to have more members and perhaps even some FB groups, but if you're looking for something specific or seeking to increase your general knowledge as part of a research phase before buying, good luck finding that needle in the haystack.

I'll see Reddit posts asking for opinions on buying or an issue with something specific. I usually direct people here and suggest they do a search. Sometimes I'll do a quick search for them and provide a link and suggest they start there.

People who paid a premium for the DE are paying for the extra 200+ of HP. Period. There’s no guarantee or promise they will be delivered first and, in fact, it’s quite likely many non-HUD GGTs get delivered first given the “supply” constraints with HUD, etc.
I honestly don't think I'd have an in production car right now if I hadnt ordered the DE. It appears to me that configurations along with part shortages are what's affecting which cars get picked up for build. Just an opinion.

When I went to the Natick, MA, studio yesterday to check out the Gravity, one really helpful associate tried to start to match me to a VIN to arrange 2-3 week delivery. GGT not GDE. There were 8-10 that were unmatched. All were green, Tahoe, 21/22 wheels. Not sure about the other options but I think they were fully loaded as that is what they’re producing first. The deal breaker is that they weren’t stealth, which I want.
He mentioned that the 20/21 wheels will delay your order as those are in short supply. Also Ojai (we know). I didn’t think to ask whether they were all Dream Drive 2 Pro, vs Premium. I’m not sure I need the Pro, though it does seem potentially dumb to not try to future proof the car and just get it.

Anyways, if you’re looking to get a GGT in late June or July, it does appear that there are a few options at the moment.

This is common throughout the industry, not just Lucid. Sales dont know everything about the car. And if you are a car enthusiast or really did your homework, you will know more about the car. This applies to even Ferrari's.......

Yes the Natick studio is where I was offered a GGT. I think he said it already had a VIN, but it was green and loaded

The email invite said the opposite.

I like mine; Anthony, at Valley Fair. Honest when he doesn’t know things, willing to run things up the flag pole, and doesn’t make things up.

Sure. Months ago when they thought they could make them efficiently, would have HUDs, etc. Things change. Exact same thing happened with Model X performance in 2016. In the end, Lucid will have to sell whatever it can make.

Can confirm, they have Gravity in the Green Hill Mall in Nashville. Both show and test drive available. Lots of open appointments and they will be here until June 29th!

Awesome!

When I forwarded the Reddit post about it yesterday, there were no responses, which puzzled me.
We have a few Tennessee order holders on here.

A three-week stay allows time for customers in neighboring states to come over/up/down.
Perhaps that's why it's there longer than the three-day stay at most of the other tour stops.

I've long found that car salespeople don't actually know that much about the vehicles they sell. They mostly have a superficial familiarity, but anyone who has done substantial research on a vehicle easily outpaces them. This has applied to every car dealership I've ever walked into. In my industry, we end up having to assign sales engineers to work with the sales people, as the sales team often maintains a shocking ignorance about the technology they sell. The phenomena baffles me, but I guess you don't actually need to know much to successfully sell a product to most people.

I contacted my SA today about Gravities with VINs, but unmatched.
She confirmed that they do exist.
She found one that almost matches my configuration (GGT/Green/Tahoe/Stealth/21-22 wheels/no tow package).
The one missing feature was the Power Package, which I'm going to wait for.
Production just started on it and completion is expected in about 45 days.

So, I reiterate what @niceInBoston said.
Depending on how lenient you are on options, June/July sounds possible.
Contact your SA.

BTW, she did say I've been assigned a pre-VIN and should expect the VIN "in the coming weeks".

I want my GDE and GGT now. But, I am mindful of my very early S and X - both of which creaked like pirate ships as long as I had them.

I was told pre-vin goes to production in 8-12 weeks - which is when VIN would come. Again, ask an SA and each will give a different answer.

Patience. Though I would get much more use out of my Gravity in summer than fall or winter…

Looks fantastic- nothing like it out there. Some say minivan, but I say the best blend of space, efficiency, looks and performance. Nothing, nothing being made now is comparable.

Lucid created a new class of vehicle- the no compromise vehicle.

Except most Americans can’t afford a $95,000+ car, so that’s kind of a big compromise. Otherwise, I agree, it’s amazing and after my demo drive, I can’t wait to get mine!

FWIW, I think today's $100k vehicle is comparable to an $80k car from 5 years ago.

Fair, but what percentage of Americans can afford an $80,000+ car today? Not THAT many. My only point was Gravity is a very expensive car - as are the cars it competes with. It’s a champagne problem for those of us here waiting for one…
