Front Camera option for basic non-DDP models

According to Google, it should have blind-spot camera and Surround View. I don't know whether this info is dated or if Lucid changed the Pure's equipment.

That info is Gemini making 💩 up. Dream Drive basic never included those features. Up until midway through 2023, all cars included all of the hardware to simplify production, but you had to pay extra to turn it on. That is no longer the case, 2024+ Airs (and I believe some 2023 model years) sold with Dream Drive basic cannot be upgraded to Premium, and Premium cannot be upgraded to Pro. Same with Surreal Sound basic / Pro.

My late 2023 has blanks where the extra cameras would go.

Thanks for the elaboration.

My question is: does the 2024+ Pures have side mirror cameras, i.e., the HW, independent of whether Lucid could/would upgrade them?

To be clear, many companies, especially SW companies, ship the same products as different SKUs, but only enable the features if you pay more. While I personally don't like the practice, it is neither illegal nor wrong. If I were in marketing or in legal, I can come up with a dozen reasons why such a practice is just fine.

As such, I am not suggesting Lucid is doing something untoward. I just want to know the truth.

Birds-eye view (synthetic) camera has been in cars for almost a decade. It is great for backing up and be able to see your surroundings. The added cost of implementation is trivial.

I understand how manufacturers want to differentiate their SKUs in a pricing stack by adding/deleting features. But market dynamics will eventually determine the outcome.

It’s not synthetic. It uses actual cameras around the car and then “stitches” them together to create a birds-eye view. Every car with a surround view option has multiple cameras. I believe you have a Rivian right? Go look around, there are cameras in every mirror and front that face down to create a Birds Eye view. You can put your finger over these cameras and your Birds Eye view will disappear in that one area

As such since Dream Drive cars have only a single rear view camera (and a front camera for ACC), they will never be able to implement surround view.

The only company that simulates surround view is Tesla, but they are still using surround cameras to do this. Since the placement is not right for Birds Eye view, they simulate it using the FSD stack. (It’s not very good though)

I understand what are saying. It is synthetic to me, because there was never a camera that saw the top pf the car. It is a jig-saw view with some real camera feeds.

Correct, but since DreamDrive cars don’t have any cameras, it can not simulate a Birds Eye view.

I believe newer production '25 Pure's come standard with the 360 cameras. My '24 Pure does not have cameras in the side mirrors, just plastic plug fittings.
