Finally got WiFi working ... kind of

There really needs to be a stop-sell order for this device

When I ping that ip address, I get successful pings.

Test fails if I ping 192.168.5.1 which, I think makes sense if the router has assigned the charger the dynamic ip address of 192.168.2.164.
Maybe not.

I couldn't even get pings when mine was on 192.168.1.x. It would get an address by DHCP just fine, but wouldn't ping or otherwise communicate.

That's the same behavior mine had while my home subnet was 192.168.1.x. It worked properly when I changed my home subnet to 192.168.2.x.
I repeated this experiment when I installed a new home wifi setup from a different vendor, and the result was exactly the same.

Worst case, you can temporarily connect an ethernet cable to the LCHCS for a few hours to let it update its firmware and try again, or ignore the problem and just use it as is.

I gave up on connecting it to the WiFi. After multiple attempts it just wouldn’t connect. Until the charger UI does / provides anything useful I’m leaving it in “dumb” mode.

Still charges the car without network connectivity.

The temporary ethernet connection is what the Lucid CC person suggested before I was suddenly disconnected.
Ironically, I have an ethernet cable that I was hoping to use until I saw how narrow the entry for the cable was and the wierd grommet.
I didn't see how an ethernet jack could fit through the opening and I saw the posts about getting a single cord cable.

Also, the way I have the charger installed, there's no way I can get the ethernet cable to it now.
The electrician that did the install today had to remove wall panels just to route the power line.

True, but one day that connectivity may be needed.
Until then, ...

I’m waiting for the “until then” moment. I gave it an hour of my time for something that should’ve taken 5 mins and that was enough for me! 😂

I've been at this for about 6 hrs. :)

HA!
I got it.

Duh.
Had to use https and the ip address (192.168.2.164) assigned by the router instead of https://192.168.5.1 that I had been using.

Now to see if by changing the home network ip address back to 192.168.1.1 I can used https and the new ip address the router assigns.

Or at least update the instructions to say "enter https://192.168.5.1" instead of "192.168.5.1.
I possibly would have tried adding the http or https, but the forum saved me time.
Mine doesn't support secure connections at all. you should either skip the protocol designation, or specifically use http:// (note the lack of an 's').

I'm on the Diagnostic screen telling it to ping the router, working like a champ.

The entire interface is pretty much useless, though. Lots of work to get it going, no tangible benefit other than checking for firmware upgrades...but by and large, I'm treating it like a black box especially since charging speed is going to be controlled via the car in 2.8.0 in any case.

I've spent at least 6-8 hours struggling with mine. One of the most frustrating things I've ever bought even ignoring the lack of V2H. It's a real piece of work.

I concur, the setup is not kind. The fact that there's no secure connection support isn't a biggie for me, but the fact that it only support 2.4Ghz WIFIis critical to know ahead of time. I have the whole thing working and have spent some time accessing the interface with the browser development mode (F12) enabled showing all the network interactions. There's a lot of asynchronous operations taking place, allowing the initial page (minus any useful data) to draw quickly...then as various background calls get answered, more and more data starts coming in.

I will say that the home page display (current, power, energy, duration) sometimes dies, requiring a reboot. Otherwise, when it IS working, it is refreshed once per second in the background, which I imagine is cool if you want to watch it charging from a web browser. You can see the same thing through the Lucid App on your phone, though. The 'download log' function is not working for me, the operation is timing out on the charger itself, I can see it clear as day from the network interactions on the developer console. Whatever embedded webserver they are running, the request timeout is too short once your log file takes a log time to be compressed before sending. I imagine a factory reboot (which will clear the log) will result in this function working again, since it'll be completed within the requisite time limit, but I truly find myself not caring, and definitely not wanting to set this up again from scratch.

I'm a professional software developer with strong IP networking skills, and this thing is a pain in the ass. Your frustration is well-founded, and I promise you're not missing much. If that changes, I'll let you know. If you wanna see what any of the screens look like, just let me know.

You're right.
It's working w/o protocol designation, but only if I'm not using 192.168.1.xxx.
So, I'm using 192.168.2.xxx.

Thanks, I did get it connected and have seen the screens. I've actually turned my LCHCS off. I'm using another EVSE that integrates with my PV system.

I hate when things don't work.
The Gravity will keep me awake a night.
I already know that.

Fortunately, the restaurant my wife suggested earlier today as I was knee deeper in LCHCS was closed today.

I kinda feel like I wasted a good amount of time not thinking about some basics. Thinking the default charger ip address would work versus the one assigned by the router, was a waste. However the instructions kinda led me to believe.
Oh well.

Mine is connected to my wifi BUT it is totally useless. Nothing other then the connection KwH and Amps.

No log, no data storage, no control
Useless apps
