EA Charging

It took me forever to find, but yes, exactly there.
Hmmm, I want Din Tai Fung now(or Hai Di Lao, which I always think of at the same time, yes I know they are different cuisines). Damn you

I know you think this is my fault, but I promise, it’s entirely yours. Go charge your car and your tummy. :)

Too late, I had Rooster and Rice tonight already (which incidentally also has a location at that mall and incidentally also is Asian)

Uh oh. What's wrong with the EA at the Outlets? That's the closest EA station to me.

Nothing at all; the plug and charge didn't automatically work, so I just used the other side of the same charger and it worked fine. As you can read above, it turns out you can manually initiate the charging from the Lucid app anyway. In terms of *charging* it worked fine and had no issues! I totally bet if I had manually initiated it from the Lucid app (which I didn't know you could do) it would have worked fine too.

How many 350Kw units at the Pismo Outlets? That would be a good stop for lunch for me on my way to see family in Ventura. Thinking King City or Salinas on the way back.

2 x 350
2 x 150

And now that we know there's very little time difference on a longer charge, like 20% - 80% between the 150s and 350s, it will make road trip planning even easier.
But at the same time, except for a small difference, it takes the selling point of charging at 350 away.

Maybe, but I thought he wasn't sure if the charging speed, even with the 150s, was also was impacted positively by the 900 volt architecture of the Lucid battery system compared to lower volts by many other cars.

Does Lucid do the whole "preconditioning battery for charging" stuff like the Tesla?
Yes, if you are road tripping and know you will be charging in a bit, you can set it up to precondition to speed the charge.

Keep in mind this could be a software limitation. An OTA can all of a sudden change this. I think having over 1,000 cars in the wild going through various charging situations will provide enough data to make a change.

Only if they never change the charging curve. I suspect they will, once they have more data on real world charging conditions.

All true, but if history is any indicator as has happened with other EVs, the changes will not be dramatic.

So wait, one has to manually enable that? I thought that just like the Tesla, your navigation is on and therefore it knows when to automatically turn on preconditioning at a certain point prior to arriving at the charging station?!

It’s a coming feature. Manual right now

Yeah, what's the point of the whole 900v charging system when the difference between 350 and 150 is minimal. Probably wasn't worth the effort they put in because 350 chargers cost way too much to install and everyone seems to be sticking to 150's.
