Does Anyone Have Regrets? (non-owner asking)

I remain ambivalent about my Air Touring. It's much more car than I wanted or need. It barely fits in the garage next to our Honda Accord.

Operating the infotainment system while driving is difficult. There are just too many choices and levels within those choices. It took me five minutes to switch from Tidal to AM radio while driving.

The front air dams have come loose and Lucid says I'll probably have to pay to have them reattached. (They may have been loosened by a parking lot slab.) I have 12,000 miles on the car.

On the plus side it is very comfortable and performs extremely well on the road.

As a previous poster noted, I feel a bit ripped off. Lucid told me I'd have to wait another six months for a Pure in February 2023, but I could have a Touring the next day for only $20K more so I went for it. Now that $100K+ Touring is selling new for the price I intended to pay for the Pure. And the Pure I wanted was available two months later.

I've had minimal service issues other than the run-of-the-mill software glitches, most of which have been corrected by updates. Lucid has been very responsive to service questions and requests.

The feature I like the most is the climate control dog setting, although with the glass roof in the summer it barely can keep the car cool unless we park in the shade.

In any event, I'll never buy another car as luxurious as the Air Touring. I just don't need that kind of luxury or acceleration. At this point I'd be happy with an infotainment system that includes a radio with five physical pushbuttons. <g> And a little more bass.

As far as regrets? Well I bought a $100K car, that they dropped about $20K after I bought it, and I recently got an offer for $35K for it. It's hard to sell outright for a number of reasons, So financially speaking yes, I regret it. I know cars depreciate but it's less than 2 years old, and the only offer I got was for about 30% of what I paid.

I can't really say I had regrets aside from spending $$$ on a big car, but it was what I was looking for and it does the job well. I bought mine in 2023 and didn't follow the pricing after the fact and you made me curious. Ouch! Going to headbutt a wall and maybe lose some short term memory  Damn...lol

Also don't get the glass roof. Unbearably hot and the ac isn't designed to handle summer with the trapped heat. The metal roof is probably preferred.
I think this may depend upon where an individual is located and does her driving. In greater Phoenix, I personally agree. But, even within a single state, that can vary. If someone lived in Flagstaff, Arizona, e.g., the glass roof would be great. It is amazing how much cooler it gets when one goes to a city at 7,000 feet above sea level.

But, even here, many who have the glass roof love it and/or aren't bothered by it or have adapted to it. Reading through the comments in this forum will demonstrate that. One thing I have noticed having come from the north and now living for many, many years in the greater Phoenix area is that my tolerance for heat has increased and for cold has decreased. I used to love a meat locker for cooling; now I set the thermostat in my house for 78 and that still seems cold.

So...as in most thing in life, everyone has different desires and requirements. That is why car makers offer options and tier levels.

My favorite example is the current trend toward "minimalist" interior design. Tesla has led the charge in this direction. But some, including me, think that "minimalist" in this regard has a different meaning: "cheap" and hate it and desire/demand switches and buttons. I was walking through the Fashion Square Mall the other day and for the hundredth time as I passed the Polestar showroom I thought "this Polestar 3 looks pretty good". I finally stepped in and looked inside the car -- a display in front of the drive and and info display to the right front and that was it. One look and I thought, given my desires, "ugh". Not ever for me. But I am sure that there are some who will love it.

34,500 miles on my March 2022 built Air GT. My only regret would be not waiting until this 2025 release of the Air GT as even 2023 loaners I’ve had seem a little better put together than my early build car and the 2025 GT with the efficiency/battery/infotainment CPU updates does seem to be a level-up. However my car is still awesome and because my lease was up on another car I didn’t want to wait for a couple years to see how Lucid performed, because I had high confidence in them on purchasing in 2022, and after my 2.5 years of ownership I still have high confidence in them today. Lucid seems more dedicated to doing a great job and committed to excellence and listening to customers than any brand I’ve encountered. All their service people and management and staff I’ve interacted with seem to be enthusiasts of the car. I also don’t understand anybody complaining about price or depreciation. See how much an S class depreciates in 3 years! The Lucid is priced fairly in the class in which it competes, and depreciation hits many EVs hard, luxury ones even more-so, not just Lucid.

I’m pretty happy with my built quality, my pure was one of the first few handed out in dec 2023, but the model S and 7 series I was also looking at would have depreciated far less than what I’m dealing with now, and hey I mean at this point it is what it is, just trying figure out my next move as I’ve never seen a drop like this, but have to consider the economy has been rather volatile as well, just not the same for all MFG’s

The depreciation is out of this world for Lucid. Mainly because it's not mainstream. Not a lot of buyers, much harder to sell in the aftermarket.

I've had mine for over a year now, it's very comfortable, but with many issues. My biggest complaint was just recently fixed, it took way longer than it needed to be (reversing with home link). I sold my Model X for Lucid, at times, I regret not buying another Model X instead. Paid more and worth less in just a year. If anyone looking to purchase, I would strongly suggest in buying a used 1.5 year old one. Patience is a virtue as they say. I'll sell mine for a gravity in 2 years lol (it'll worth less than 30k by then lol).

7,000 miles on my Touring and no regrets. The hardware platform is solid making the ride and performance second to none. The software has and will continue to improve, although it seems with each release “something” regresses.

I ask myself, what would I buy instead - ICE or EV? I cannot come up with a single car that delivers performance, comfort and aesthetics. Everyone I pass a Tesla I think “used bar of soap” 😉

Hahahaha I also have had that used bar of soap thought, the only reason I can come up with why Tesla owners don’t wash their cars is cuz they’re not car people, same reason why their rims are always trashed. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a Model 3 with decent condition rims.

I am pretty sure I am going to get a lot of heat from other members on this forum, but here is my question for the people who already have their Lucid vehicles and have spent some time living with them.
Do you have any regrets about buying the Lucid? What regrets do you have? If you love the vehicle in general, what do you wish was better?
What do you absolutely love about your vehicle?
First EV, No regrets at all, great car but like others stated here, software need work which will improve in time.
Tested Tesla S, X, BMW iX, ESQ in my option Lucid beat them hands down.
I am a Corvette Guy so only complaint/concern….
This is stupid fast on take off but the handling is not that great over 100 compared to my vett.
And it’s a head turner compared to other EV I tested. lol .

That has not been my experience living here in Las Vegas. I've mentioned before that I bought those cheapie screens from Costco. The side window screens are too tall for the windows but fit perfectly above the driver and passenger. I park the Touring for a couple of hours at the gym between noon and 2pm. During summer, the temps don't peak until 5pm but still plenty hot (well over 100) from 10am on. I don't precool the car beforehand (haven't figured out how to do that TBH). I roll both side windows down for about 30 seconds and that's pretty much it. Also, I have the rear screen up as well as the rear side windows screens up. When driving, the A/C performs without issue, on par with our Lexus 450h. The only car we own with better A/C is our Mini Cooper S, but it's a small car with a very nice A/C system. P.S. I don't work for or own stock in Costco, but I can't recommend those screens enough. If you don't like them, return for free.

Interesting, I too live in Vegas, but the AC system is definietly not better than Lexus. How old is your lucid and lexus? Mine are 2022 and 2024, takes just 5 to 15 mins to cool down on my Lexus, but a good 30 minutes for the Lucid. When I get off work at 5pm in the summer, if I don't precool it with the mobile app, it's very very hot, at least a good 30 mins before it starts to cool down. Lexus was able to cool down very quickly.

I got my Touring in December, 2022 right before Christmas! The Lexus 450h is 2018. As you know, 5pm is the worst and hottest time of the day here. It's cooling down but wait until late next Spring when Costco carries the screens. Make sure to get the Jumbo, not the Standard size. I'll make a mental note to ping you if/when I see them. I'll probably pick up an extra set but TBH mine haven't aged. The side screens have suction cups. I put them overhead over 2 years ago and they haven't dropped. I better check to make sure the sun hasn't glued them on lol!

23K on my 2023 Touring without problems. Great car to drive, ~330mi real world range averaging 3.8 mi/kwh.

Can’t comment on the metal roof but must say that the Lucid sunscreen which attaches to the inner glass allows a lot of light and much diminished heat transfer. I found it did the trick and my worries about glass roof are abated. AC also seems to have improved since original purchase (12/22) Love the car.

This along with "Comfort Mode" has solved my initial concerns I had with the glass roof.

Not questioning your feelings in any way - the Air is also the largest car I've ever owned. But isn't the Honda Accord the same length - the Air is just a few inches wider?

My advice, wait another 10 years.
And see how much money you have saved.

I was gonna post that too. Buyingu any car is a money losing proposition, so people should try to enjoy what they bought and stop worrying you made a bad financial decision. My wife’s 2024 Volvo V60 Polestar PHEV is actually worth more used than my 2022 Air GT. That car was $70k, the GT was $131K. I don’t care, I like the Lucid more, doesn’t bother me one bit how much it has depreciated.
