Does Anyone Have Regrets? (non-owner asking)

Don't worry, I'm an audiophile and compared both, the SSPro is only a tad better, not worth the added money and that's coming from someone who spent $7K on my Bowers and Wilkens in my BMW. If the base is 3/10 the SSPro is a 4/10, so don't have any regrets.

I leased a Lucid Air Pure a week ago. The only option I was on the fence about was SSPro — did not get it. I listened to both sound systems, and while I might give the SSPro a 6/10, I didn't think the difference was worth >$5000 on a lease (including the $3000 "on-site" bonus). Your post does make me feel better. :)

My previous car was an April 2013 Model S (one of the first 7500 sold), so I am actually further up the early-adopter curve with Lucid and feeling pretty sanguine about the issues Lucid is still ironing out. The only thing I think Tesla has over Lucid as a performance-luxury EV is the SuperCharger network, and that's just for road trips. Seeing the Lucid charge at a significantly higher mph on THE EXACT SAME HOME OUTLET was a pleasant surprise.

After the latest software upgrade, the surreal sound pro sounds significantly better. Worth the $$$.

Whats your 10/10 system?
I have a BMW with the sound package which I will score 9/10, my Honda has premium sound, and I'll give that 7/10 the lucid is better than the Honda on TiDal+Dolby Atmos, and slightly worse on everything else. I'll give the lucid a 6+/10

I have the 2024 BMW XM which is hailed as BMW's "Best" sound system due to it being their best designed Sound system in their flagship vehicle (whether people like the design, that's a whole other discussion lol), I've also listened to Mercedes EQS AMG SUV Bermister system which is also hailed as a #1 of all time sound systems. Both in near $200k cars. Now I will say Lucids highs are ok, but I still stand by my 3/4 rating. My Parents 2018 jeep grand cherokee Harmon Kardon systems blow these away with a 5.5/10. Again my background was an audio engineer at a local 2,000 seat auditorium that hosts musicals, operas and dance recitals.

Do you have 2.5.0 and the TSC for the audio fix applied?

If not, do that and report back. Your experience will be different, guaranteed.

I just scheduled my TSC appointment for next week. Keeping fingers crossed.
After the 2.5.0 update, all I noticed was a much louder volume but same quality. My wife currently prefers to drive the BMW because of the superior audio, I kind of hope that doesn't change after this upgrade.

You won’t notice any significant difference before the TSC is applied. Yes, the volume attenuation is slightly different, the volume wheel accelerates faster, etc.

But you won’t notice any kind of quality difference (except that it may actually be slightly worse, from what I’ve heard) until the TSC fix. Then it will be a *significantly noticeable* change.

Anyone looking for major SSP audio quality changes after 2.5 but without the TSC applied is either fooling themselves, or has discovered the placebo effect. :)

Just trust me on this one; you can come back and tell me how wrong I am once you have the TSC. You may like it less (I don’t know how), but I guarantee you’ll find it very noticeably different, at the very least. :)

Beautiful interior, spacious back seat, super quiet cabin, and a huge frunk. I came from a Model S Plaid, and those are pretty much the only aspects where I think it's superior.

However, if you want sportier performance, a better charging network, easier trunk access, and more intuitive infotainment controls, just stick with Tesla. I think Lucid is still miles behind Tesla.

To be honest, I think my next car will still be a Tesla. It's kind of like iOS (Tesla): when you switch to Android (Lucid), you end up preferring the simplicity of what you're used to.

Yeah, I totally respect your opinion. But I couldn't disagree more. The Tesla UX is anything but simple and intuitive. More capable, for sure. But not simple.

And far more like Android than iOS. Even down the visual design.

Speaking of iOS, Tesla not having CarPlay makes it a nonstarter for me. No way I'm paying for a monthly fee to have some of the functions that I can have in my Lucid using CarPlay for free. Same with Rivian.

Can’t wait for cars with CarPlay 2.0. Hoping Lucid eventually gets it.

Theres your problem if you think the honda premium is a 7. Ive had over 50 cars in my life so i might have an advantage.

Exactly the same opinion as my wife. CarPlay is an absolute must have, no discussion.

15k miles in with a GT after 10 months. Still can’t decide if it’s worth the mental lottery each time I approach the car to see if it decides to behave or not - will it open, will CarPlay work, will it recognize my phone - these are table stakes these days. The inconsistency in behavior is infuriating. Software issues should all have been fixed long ago given the time since launch and number of OTA updates. They are all know factors. When it behaves, it’s the best car I’ve ever driven. But I doubt I will get another one as not confident the next one will be as good or better, and likely worse than my current one. I consider myself one of the lucky ones who’s had relatively minor issues (and that includes having to have the whole battery replaced after 4k miles, soft door close issue, rear parcel shelf squeak, major panel gaps and misalignment etc.).

Which leads to the biggest reservation for me - servicing. It’s very difficult to get an appointment, the nearest service center to me is 90 miles away, and this is just with one product with a very small number of units on the road. I can’t imagine what it would be like if they’d ever got close to their target sales numbers for Air, and then there is Gravity coming. It’s reasonable to assume that the new Gravity will have its lists of issues, which will create even more work for the service centers, and likely push updates and work on the Air down the list.

Nobody has said depreciation doesn’t exist. I own a DE. I’m very familiar with the concept of depreciation. :)

But it’s the latter contention that is confusing - the Model S “held up much better.” In price? Sure, I agree.

As a *car*? Disagree.

Very often, when you or others think someone here “can’t handle the truth,” it’s because you’re talking past each other. Nobody disagrees depreciation sucks. :)
Here's an article specifically on the Air depreciation...
