Delivery Delays

This is my pure assumption. The wrapped cars are the ones that are ready to go. The unwrapped cars got bundled into different sections for 1-Pre Delivery Inspection or 2-Post Assembly Line Installation. Because supply chain issues today, Lucid assembly line simply cannot wait for all parts get there and must go on with assembly line for major parts. So different batch area are lumped together for what is missing. It can be speakers, glove compartment, charging pad, latches, window shades, etc. etc.
Again, this is just my personal assumption.
Your assumptions sound reasonable. I have seen the videos of the factory floor and it seems that the line must be running very slowly or stopped at times because there should be a lot more cars either shipped or in the back lot.

Also remember, this AMP-1 is not all set and done, it is also under constant construction adding new equipments and pouring new foundation at various times.

It’s called “fake it til you make it.” I have no doubt Lucid can good chance to make it bc they have proprietary technology, breakthrough hardware and breath-taking design yet weak brand recognition and teething at high production. They are building and refining their AMP-1 as they go. If anyone else just want to assemble all outsourced parts together, they may fake it, but harder to make it is bc harder to control cost. Imo, Rawlinson has grand vision based on Tesla’s proven footprint, ambitious vertical integration process to take on global market, then have later phase for mass adoption at mid-entry level product.

My vin was assigned in May and my Grand Touring was expected in late July and has been produced and setting at factory in Arizona for at least 6 weeks. Apparently for quite a while there is a hold on all deliveries, supposedly for software updates. Lucid has no info on when they expect to release cars. I’m starting to think they can’t get the cars software right. Makes me wonder if I should have waited for 2023 model when they fix all the bugs. Anyone else have any info on the ongoing delivery delays? When is 2023 going to be released?
Why wait when you can drive now and wait?

+1 here ... VIN assigned & told it would be shipped in a 'couple of days' and on hold ...

I doubt its software related at all. I think it is transportation logistics & they are behind shipping these cars. Why else wait on 10+MN, and counting, inventory just sitting there?

And IMO, again, the cars are lined up for the specific delivery centers. Hence the reason they are spread out.

I would like to believe, if/when Bears does another flyover and we see the staging area & holding pen empty or less full, we will also see more posts here about "I got my car today". I think in the next 2 to 5 weeks we should start seeing the 'flood'. Fingers x'ed.

Maybe this is gullible of me, but I’m going to accept that the people building this car know what they’re doing better than I do, and that they’re facing a lot of struggles in development, software, production and delivery because the whole world is just a damn hot mess right now, not because they’re idiots who have no clue what they’re doing and don’t test their cars and are hoping customers won’t notice.

But the car feels so cheap, and the paint looks cheap and the vents don’t touch my cheeks in just the right way and the seat is made of real leather which is bad for cows and I love milk so now I won’t have as much to drink so I’m selling the stock lol

This sounds familiar; your not plagiarizing are you?

Wow, I am really glad I decided to post actual pictures of my latest "glitch".

My vin was assigned May 17. Yesterday my DA told me she had no update on the production of my car. It was originally supposed deliver at the end of February, now they have just stopped communicating with customers.

Nobody ever disbelieved you; your experience has been… crappy, to say the least, heh

Your posts and Sam’s posts are distinctly different.

Another possible fallout due to the delivery delays, will be the impact caused by the upcoming rate increase.

Wonder how many were looking to get a loan; or have one locked in that may/will expire in the next days/weeks before the auto rates are revised up. Will they walk?

Wait & watch ...

Update on my pending delivery out of Goose Island. As of last Friday my car was ready to be delivered (actually got the call from GI) but since paperwork had not been generated I was told to expect a few days delay. Unfortunately, today my DA told me that "there was a meeting" at HQ in CA and they were told deliveries were now on hold, indefinitely (at least at Goose Island), and that it was not restricted to my car (which had already passed PDI). No further information was given, despite various lines of questioning (is it software or hardware, etc).

Speculation is what we do well here, so I'll suggest it is potentially a recall level issue that they want to get ahead of and not something that would make them look good if they release cars - say with Car Play - in advance of the earnings call August 3. Since the delay is undefined and indefinite, and there's little likely-hood of getting a significant number delivered within the next week, I'm betting on a much lower stock price come next Thursday. Too bad, as I was really looking forward to getting the car.

Okay. So now we have confirmed there is a definite hold on deliveries. The remaining question is why. Thanks for the update.

Recall sounds like the most likely reason. Why deliver a bunch of cars you know will only have to visit a service center immediately, anyway?

I do wonder if this will come up during the earnings call. Will they announce that they have paused deliveries? Seems like they would be asked that by at least one reporter, if they don't mention it in their opening statement. Or will they resume by next week? Doesn't seem likely they'd say anything this specific to any customer if they were only planning to pause for a few days. They don't generally tell customers anything they don't have to, so they could easily have fed @TCGT a story if that were the case.

And by the way, there are such things as software recalls. I've had a few of those on my Tesla, which were fixed OTA. So it could be software-related, still. But not likely for general bugs. More like, "a few people reported something very dangerous that we can reproduce reliably, and the NHTSA is forcing our hand about fixing it immediately."

Yea, wouldn't it be nice if it was just a software update issue that would make them look good, though that just seems unlikely given the delivery delays that are growing by the day. As noted elsewhere, the effect on many future buyers will be a likely higher APR once the rate hike starts to trickle into the market.

Any way you slice it, this had to be a hard decision for them. And they are going to take some sort of hit for it. But they may not have had a choice, if it really is a recall situation.

And here I was at the beginning of July, telling myself, "Well, they have to deliver a lot more cars in the second half of the year, if for no other reason than they aren't going to have to shut down completely for six weeks again."

Let's hope this one is for a lot less than six weeks.
