Dash cam

I had a professional installer mount a Garmin 57 and a Thinkware battery extender today for when it's parked. Installer spliced the wire underneath the plug so I can still use the 12 volt power for something else. Nice and neat. Barely any wire showing near the camera.
Installer is in Los Angeles.
Here are the pics. I'll report back if I have any issues. View attachment 13098View attachment 13099View attachment 13100
Would you have the picture of the splice beneath the storage area?

I have not
Did you access the fuse box to connect a dash cam or another device? Which fuse did you connect to? I'm trying to install my dash cam with parking mode enabled. I'd prefer not to run a cable all the way to the rear 12V socket.

Most do the rear, some have done a mirror tap.

For those tapping into a fuse, which fuse are people using or should be safe to use?

I used MB1 and MB8 as they are unused fuses.

They are not unused. “Not Applicable” means Lucid doesn’t want to tell you what they’re for, not that they’re unused, afaik.

Well they work just fine non the less.

Thanks for the fuse manual. How difficult is it to remove the cabin panel to get to the cabin fuse box? I see the instructions but is there any tips or things to look out for?

It’s easy. There are four size 25 torq screws. Then just disconnect the plug to the ambient lighting. The hardest part is being laying on your back to see what you are doing.

Yeah, of course; I’m not suggesting you don’t tap them. But they’re not for nothing. :)

Also the fuse layout you posted is only for one of the 3 LVJB’s in the car.

Here are the fusebox layouts: https://lucidowners.com/attachments/lucid-fuse-information-optimized-pdf.11519/

Keep in mind that’s not fully up to date; for example, the rear 12v trunk outlet fuse is now in the rear LVJB, not the cabin LVJB.
Good to know there’s an update. I was using the fuse info I found in another thread on this site.

That’s where I grabbed this from, too; it’s not up to date either, but it’s close. There are a few of them floating around.

Is there a fuse in the front cabin box that is always on and can be used for parking mode?

Wanted to post an update. I setup my vantrue 4 Pro dash cam today hooking it up to m1 and m8 fuses in the front cabin fuse box. It was easier than expected. Thanks everyone for the posts on this forum - it all helped.

Hi Jammet, fuse MB12 is working all the time even when the car is in deep sleep.

I’m not sure the parking mode kind you have or the hardware kit, but I would highly recommend you to make sure the parking mode is not using a lot of power and the hardware kit has voltage protection if it sensed the battery is draining a lot.

Did your MB1 and MB8 worked with parking mode already?

No mb1 and mb8 do not have power when the car goes to sleep. I will check out mb12.

I have the vantrue n4 pro with their hardwire kit and it does have low battery protection.

Thanks for the tip, I’ll try to swap out the fuse to us mb12.

Swapped in mb12 and have parking mode working.

Does anyone know if the 12v is being charged whenever the Air is plugged into a charger?
