CarPlay is here! - Megathread

One of the reasons I am so excited about CarPlay is that it would be a gateway to leverage the Dolby Atmos Surreal Sound via Atmos encoding available via Apple Music. https://www.dolby.com/experience/apple-music/
Yes!! That is my first need. Tidal just doesn't cut it either in its performance or its selection. Apple Music Dolby Atmos recordings actually sound better via Bluetooth in the Lucid than Tidal Streaming. Hopefully CarPlay will enable full Dolby Atmos streaming when/if it becomes available.

Yea, my gut is this is not on Lucid's end but Apple. Apple is a pain with approvals.

If you download the CarPlay simulator, you can see that the CarPlay supports various screen sizes. Here is an 800x1200 display, with the Electrify America App open. It also supports multiple Display Areas, including the instrument cluster:

Here’s an example of CarPlay in the Ford Mustang Mach-E. When the screen orientation shifts to portrait, the status bar moves to the bottom of the screen (as you can see).

if so, what's stopping them from deploying Android Auto :p

Lucid might not have anticipated the need for CarPlay/AA and now they are prioritizing it 🤷‍♂️

I'd rather they get the whole key thing working properly first than CarPlay/AA. For me personally, I have used nor anticipate using CP or AA

Lucid is leveraging Android Automotive as a base OS (this is a good thing) - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Android_Automotive, going forward Lucid should gain all of the capabilities of Android Automotive (Not to be confused with Android Auto)
in part because of this Google is stopping Android Auto mobile app in favor of Google Assistant:

Keys are becoming standardized: https://carconnectivity.org specifically: https://global-carconnectivity.org Lucid is a member https://carconnectivity.org/members/#car-connectivity-consortium-board ( a very good thing) much like bluetooth you want Lucid to be leveraging standards. Both Apple & Google are also leveraging this within their respective phone OS e.g. Apple: https://developer.apple.com/videos/play/wwdc2020/10006/

What problem(s) are you still having with the key? My fob and my iPhone work just as I would expect. In fact every time I go out to the garage for whatever reason unrelated to the car, it quickly unlocks when I am within about 25 feet from the car. I don't use the "valet card" at all.

Oh, I'm not, actually I've never experienced any access issues. It just seems like the feedback from quite a few users was the ingress/egress. My top priority for software is actually dashcam/Sentry mode.

Looks like the only manufacturer not on there is Tesla

Just hypothesizing. Lucid like so many in the software industry don't want to complete one without the other. Considering all the angry fanboys out there both in Android and apple, putting one out into production while the other is still in dev = a whole lot of angry for the sake of angry. You would think we were talking about Israel and palestine.

And satellite radio as well

I don’t think they can implement Satellite radio as the hardware is not in the car to do so.

Does anyone familiar with CarPlay know if we can listen to SiriusXM with it?

I plan to listen to the SiriusXM App on my phone through the BT connection.

Would it be possible to step through my favorite SiriusXM channels with car controls?

I doubt it, but it is one of the first things I am going to play around with when/if I ever get my car. You might be able to go through Siri though.

Yes, you use the XM app with CarPlay.

Yes. Here is what it looks like in the CarPlay simulator:
