Reasonable evaluation. Peak load was not addressed though. What would peak load become versus current capacity and peak loads if a percentage of owners charge at night? What is the distribution of peak load and electrical generation?

Some parts of the country (eg. California, Southern Maryland, etc.) are experiencing brown outs and black outs, and those would need significant increases to catch up and exceed adoption rates. Adoption rates also differ by state.

The article takes an overly simplistic view of the problem.
