Best reactions to your Air

Parked in front of coffee shop and just stepped out to go in to get coffee, a mid age man came out of shop abruptly and asked me. “Your car look like futuristic bullet train, did you get it from China?!” 🤣

With how sony and all those companies are copying lucid design, I understand that lmao

I over heard two ladies talking about my Lucid in the parking lot. "This car parked next to me. I've never seen anything like it. It must be one of those new electric vehicles. A Tesla." "No, it's too nice to be a Tesla. Look it says Lucid. I think its a new car."

My wife is anything but a car person (tho every time we've test-driven new cars for her, she's opted for the biggest engine).

So she has indulged my Lucid "preoccupation" with a combo of boredom and patience ("yawn").

Yesterday I drove her to O'Hare, and at a stoplight sat a Lucid (in our exact Silver) facing us at the intersection.

She immediately spun around and said "hey wait a minute---I thought 'we' had the only one..."

At least they arent one of those idiots who ask “who makes a lucid”

Shoulda shown her a ford excursion… I would want to see you driving a v10 diesel suv.
Biggest engine, am I right?

Why are people who ask this question 'idiots'? Given Lucid's relative newness and lack of brand penetration, it's a perfectly valid question. Compare the badging with, eg, some Explorers, you can entirely understand people wondering if 'Lucid' is the make or the model.

I get this question a lot. I try to respond constructively, usually along the lines of "Lucid's the name of the company, they're manufactured in Arizona." More often than not, it kicks off an interesting conversation.

at a stop light taking coworkers to lunch - truck yells at us to roll the window down: "what kind of car is that!? its f'n sexy!" lol! he wasn't even listening to the response - just all smiles and gawking!

Not really idiots, just the fact that im sure it also says "air" on the back. Again, you cant blame them with things like the range rover, the explorer, etc.

Looks like you better step up your exclusivity game for your wife 😉

I have just the perfect solution...

🤣 But I've seen a lot more slingshots than Lucids in the wild

Some alternative solutions from the mountains of NE Oregon. Perhaps a site for a Lucid Gravity meet up in a couple years...

Have had many: "What is it?", Who makes it?", "Is that the new Tesla?"
BEST was yesterday coming home from a grandson's lacrosse game by a mid-teen on his bike stopped at a traffic light.
"Hey, wow, a Lucid!"
"I love that car!"
"I have one home just like it!"

But it's a Hot Wheels

Took it to the DMV for VIN Verification, at one point 5 dmv workers were walking around it asking where its from, what model it is, how fast is it, etc... The fact that this was in San Jose and the company is based in East Bay really surprised them.

First time ever saw Ioniq6 in Dallas Hwy-65. I passed by, the driver rollers down window and shouted, “I love your car!” and she just slowed down traffic praising. I rolled down window and said, “Me too and I like yours too!” She then shouted, “I love it! Just got it, first electric!” We both stalled the traffic and got honked.

Ioniq 6 side profile kind of look like classic Porsche.

It's one of those...glad I'm on the inside and not looking at my own car type of cars. Like the EQS or i7.

🤣 But I've seen a lot more slingshots than Lucids in the wild

Naples, FL is a market saturated with high-end brands and a good place to gather at least anecdotal evidence of the makeup of the luxury market. You see Bentleys, Ferraris, Lambos, and Rolls-Royces on the roads regularly and virtual oceans of Porsches, Mercs, BMWs, and Range Rovers.

So far we have seen seven Lucid Airs that we are sure are not repeat sightings (by dint of wheels, color, trim treatments). Twice I have wound up at a restaurant with another Zenith Red Air in the parking lot along with ours (and not the same Air at both restaurants, as the wheels were different). My partner went to the parking lot after a game of tennis mixed doubles two weeks ago and found the woman he played against getting into her white Lucid Air. The shop that wrapped our car with PPF recently said it was the fifth Air they've wrapped. We saw a Lucid in the westbound lane of Alligator Alley on Saturday as we were heading for the Miami Airport.

Meanwhile, we've seen only three Mercedes EQS's on the roads down here. I don't have a count for the Taycans we've seen, as they've been on the market longer, but we've certainly seen them less frequently than Airs.

I know Lucid sales numbers are causing some wrinkled brows. But I have a feeling it's worse for the Mercedes and Porsche EV sedans, at least in the U.S.

That's great to hear - my mother lives in Pelican Marsh, I'll have to engage in some Air-spotting next time I'm down there.
