Audio Issues

I've had my car for almost three years now and I share in the frustrations posted on this thread. I appreciate those willing to share their negative experiences knowing that there is a vocal community on this forum that wants to shout down any complaints. It seems like folks here take it personally when others have an issue with their car.
Some days I get in my car and I can't change the radio station until I do a reset by holding down the Air button for 20 seconds. Then all seems to work again. This happens every 6 weeks and has been going on for over two years. I first posted on this in March, 2023.
Some days I get no audio at all from any sorce
Two days ago my Car Play just stopped working. When I go into Bluetooth settings and try to connect my iPhone with the car play logo, the screen takes me back to the About screen and my Car Play will not connect. I tried the Air reset and that didn't work so now I just live without Car Play.
I've just accepted that this is what I should expect from my Lucid. When people ask me how I like the car I typically say that it drives great, but the software is really buggy. So if you want to listen to the radio or use Car Play, a Lucid is probably not for you.
To address your first paragraph, I don't feel like that there are people trying to "shout down" complaints or negative experiences. This is a community that is dedicated to learning about the Lucid Air, sharing information, and trying to help solve issues outside of the official Lucid service. Normally, issues with the car are met with advice, in varying degrees of helpfulness 🙃, but all with good intent. The issues come from from hyperbolic opinions, generalizations and vague problems that don't seem to want a response - they want to vent. So people tend to respond with their own opinions, often counter to the original poster. Things like "the Lucid key Fob is the worst design ever", tend to get met with "I don't have a problem with mine". Two opinions, equally valid but certainly divergent. Of course the car isn't perfect, and this whole forum is in part a testimony to that, as we discuss problems and fixes. But the irritating thing to me is the amount of negativity and hyperbole that some pile on to a car that I happen to like a lot. Sometimes the responses do feel personal - both ways.

Getting off the soap box now...😂

Amen.

Context and details solve most problems. <3

That's kind of amazing. I am by no means dismissing your experience; it just boggles my mind that my audio system has been nothing but sublime, once the tape fixes were applied. I just haven't had any issues in years, but I also don't listen to radio. Hm.
This is purely speculative, but I have a hunch there are relevant hardware differences between the audio systems in early build years and more recent 2023 or 2024(?) and up models that convey different issues. Noticing this theme in a few audio related threads.

I would bet you're right, but I'm less convinced they are audio components necessarily. Could very well be differences in communication components, processors / ECUs, etc. But I do think that in the early days, Lucid had a 'fragmentation' problem, where they had no choice but to use similar, but not identical, components due to supply chain issues and being an unknown brand, especially during the pandemic.

I know at least some of that is true, because Lucid has previously said so; I just don't know when that changed, but it definitely seems like it did, likely at some point in 2023.

My theory it’s handoff issue:
It has to do with a glitch in how the car wakes up from deep sleep.
Now whether that’s due to handing off WiFi to cellular etc is possible.
However what I do notice when this issue happens is that the audio was dead as soon as opened or woke up my car.

So I would ask Lucid software team to review all processes that involve start up of the Audio apps or software during wake up of the car. Given the strong response and I do admire those that defended my post and chimed in they also had issues, it feels like this should be repeatable with test car or test data. I mean just keep opening and closing and sleeping the car I am sure at least once the Audio doesn’t come back. Add logging reproduce and bam problem solved

I just want to be clear: the issue with your post wasn’t that you had issues, but the lack of detail and specifics about those issues. I’m really glad we got more detail (and more people with whom they can hopefully test!)

Thanks all

This is what happens, I get in my car, and random mornings, and I don't get audio out of Spotify, or any Audio Apps, or Car Play.
I pull over to the road, I do the re-set, magically audio comes back.
Then again same thing in few days,
Rinse and Repeat.
Not sure I can explain any clearer, but thats the bug.
And none of you ever pull over to the side to restart your Audio, unbelievable if true, or you all lying.
I have had to pull over multiple times to do a reset. Actually upon picking up my car I literally had to pull over twice (garbled audio and no audio from the right side of the car).

Just had the no audio from right side of car rear its ugly head again. 7:37PM EST. I had gone without this issue since my last service tech visit, but I guess it's not fixed.

Thank you for sharing. I just sent you a direct message.

Thank you for sharing. Would you mind keeping a log of incidents along with any additional info, such as audio source, etc? This will help with troubleshooting.

here comes more venting I apologize in advance, one thing Elon did when he took over twitter was he called for a code review of all the code and have engineers explain what their code does or what they accomplished and if you didn’t do this he considered it resignation. I think it’s time to swing the pendulum a bit more to raise the standards on code. Provide higher pay, raise the bar and hire extremely competent engineers and institute a comprehensive code review process.
I am software engineer graduated computer science near top of my class and work for one of the biggest computer science based engineering workforces in the world.

That’s said :
My tune in was giving me problems yesterday , today is forced me to re-login.
And then I tried to play a station and noticed not all speakers were playing audio just the front speakers.
I switched to Spotify and it was the same result.
Eventually few minutes later the Audio totally cut out then I closed my door to drop off my kids and the audio partially came back before complete. Cutting out again.
This all happens 8:55-9-10am logging another incident

Did you try a reset? Might’ve been faster than writing this post!

Yes I have to reset and it usually fixes the issue but I shouldn’t have to rest right ?
Of course not. They should fix it. But Lucid has a poor track record on fixing known bugs. This is especially true in the audio and navigation systems. While I truly love my car and still think it’s the best driving car I have ever owned, I am increasingly frustrated with their inability to provide a smooth and glitch-free infotainment software experience.

Just thinking outloud and critically what changes would you want to see in terms of execution that would give you confidence that they will make progress on these goals ?

This was nonsense then and it’s still nonsense now. That’s not how you manage a software team. He did that at Twitter because he needed a lot of people to quit, as he needed to cut costs. It wasn’t so they’d have better engineers.

Congrats.

Yes, Lucid needs to improve their software management and process. No, emulating “Elon’s way” should not be the path they take.

Well even our most founded supporters here are pushing for software change. See three years ago I would have been lectured if I made this post but looks like times are a changing.
No, you wouldn't have been "lectured" any more than you are right now, because the software does and has needed improvement.

It's the "print our your code and walk me through it to prove you're not an idiot" nonsense that is stupid.
