That’s normal for a new company. Patent prosecution can take many many years, and many many back and forths with the USPTO about the most inane things.

I hold 8 patents. Each one sucked to prosecute, haha.

Haha that wasn't meant to brag; anyone can get a patent if they:
a) come up with something, anything, of any sort of value. even small things, if they are novel and non-obvious, can be patentable.
b) pay a boatload of money
c) have good attorneys (optional, but very helpful, lol)

Ha. Good attorneys will literally write the patent for you, after you describe it to them.
