Lucid filed for this patent back in 2019 and I hope they can leverage it for charging greater than 50kw at lower voltage chargers.

Boost converters and methods for using an inverter and a motor
Embodiments discussed herein refer to backwards compatible charging circuits and methods for charging a battery to a relatively high voltage level regardless of whether the charging station is capable of supplying power at that relatively high voltage level. The circuitry and methods according to embodiments discussed herein can use the motor and power electronics (e.g., inverter) to provide a voltage boosting path to increase the charge voltage from a legacy voltage level (e.g., a relatively low voltage level) to a native voltage level (e.g., a relatively high voltage level). When a native voltage charging station is charging the battery, the circuitry and methods according to embodiments discussed herein can use a native voltage path for supplying power, received from the charging station at the native voltage, to the battery

Porsche can do 350 kW at an 800V station and 175 kW at a 400V station.

GM Ultium battery platform can do 350 kW at an 800V station and 250 kW at a 400V station.

These are not theoretical but they are happening right now.

If other brands can do it, Lucid could too.

The technology is there for every one to grab and use it.

However, in the designing process, Lucid chose a voltage backward compatibility at 50 kW for a 400V station. It's done by choice and not because of there's no technology for a decent charging rate.

Now some owners want Lucid to change its design. It's a very unrealistic wish. It will take lots of money, talent, and especially time to abandon the 50 kW design.

Even if you have the funding, it may take 5 years or more just to re-design one. You are talking about the wunderbox here and not just a plug!
