2.5.3 OTA Update

Perhaps this type of failure causes some car controls to be unavailable. Seems that way in the picture. I would definitely want an accelerated fix for this.
Forgot to say, switching to "Settings " and back to the main page, sometimes twice was my walk-around. Everything keep working while it happens, no real safety issues. 😁

Still on 2.4.x here, no prompts for updates. Historically, I've gotten the updates within 2 weeks, or 3 weeks at the most. Anyone else still waiting on 2.5.x? Just curious if the rollout has been paused.

Probably time to contact customer care and see if they can get it pushed.

As of a couple days ago, 2.5.3 was still being rolled out, but you should have received 2.5.0 long ago. I think you should definitely call or text customer service. Beside getting the update(s), I also suggest asking them to research the root cause of you being passed over for 2.5.0.

Once in a while, a download can fail, and the OTA system doesn't seem to notice that and re-push.

Yes, but in such an event, there is no indication of the failed download, is there? That's why I suggested the root cause research question, lest a person is being missed time and again, without figuring out why. In @coma24's case, it looks like it may very well have happened twice in a row. (Why tiny little 2.5.3 is still rolling out is beyond me. I hope they develop a more timely system before the mid-size vehicle kicks the installed base into the stratosphere!)

I pinged CS and they have requested that my vehicle is added to the push list. They advised that it'll hopefully happen within 24 hours, saying that 'normally it is instant,' but they allowed for a delay due to fewer people working over the holiday break. Will see how it goes.

I'm curious to know... Has anyone with a 2023 Pure AWD received either 2.5.3 or 2.5.4? Or both? Just wanting to confirm that I should never expect to receive them, and that receipt of the next general OTA won't be adversely impacted by missing one or both. (I get that I certainly have no use for 2.5.4 since I don't have enhanced interior lighting, but other past OTAs have included many items that some people don't need.)

2023 Pure AWD here and still on 2.5.0. No sign of 2.5.3 or 2.5.4.

Those two updates are for extremely specific issues. You would know if you needed them. You would have a problem with your center display not working properly or your light strip above your head not working properly. Since your car doesn’t have a light strip above your head so you definitely don’t need 2.5.4.
I don’t have either of the two issues and I have not received either the two updates.
That said, I think it would make sense if Lucid would just send the update to every car and have it do nothing to keep the version numbers consistent.

I absolutely understand what you are saying, @Bobby, but my concern has nothing to do with me needing them to 'fix' those issues. My concern is the possibility that not having them might somehow adversely impact my ability to get the next big OTA, because my vehicle is considered by the OTA distribution system as not being up to date. (I think you may be alluding to that in your last sentence.)

Here's a question that I'm sure you of all people could answer best... Before these two OTAs, has ever been an OTA for the US market that only went to some of the US-based vehicles? In the year that I've owned my car, I don't think there has been, but perhaps before? If the answer is yes, then my level of concern drops way down. Thanks, @Bobby!

I had this error a lot! (i guess i switch modes more often than most) fixed now!

How did it go? I'm guessing that you may have needed the last three OTA updates. Wondered how they go about pushing more than one.

Yes, this has happened several times. Take a look at lucidupdates.com you will see some notes I’ve added about updates that were for specific vehicles, specific markets, or to address specific problems.

Poorly, nothing yet. The guidance of "normally instant once we make this request, but due to holidays, may take up to 24 hours," wasn't accurate as we're on day 3 since then. No signs, still on 2.4.x. It's not the end of the world, but I do wish CC would use caution about stating timeframes that aren't accurate. It sets expectations incorrectly.

I'm really sorry to belabor this, @Bobby! In the cases you referenced, are you saying that (other than 2.5.3 and 2.5.4) those earlier OTA updates were ONLY sent to those specific vehicles, specific markets, or to address their specific problem?

No argument there.

More generally speaking... My guess is that @nicktwork is not responsible for improving communications around OTA updates, but I view this as an incredibly easy opportunity to both cut down on calls to customer service AND improve customer sat. The items I mentioned as the OP of 'Proposed OTA Process Change' would be examples of some particularly low hanging fruit.

Upon closer examination, I do see two in the year that I've owned by Pure. OTA updates 2.3.2 and 2.3.3 were distributed to address blind spot cameras not activating after 2.3.0. That alleviates my 'up to date' concern, but still, the communications around these updates can be improved quite painlessly.

Yes. It has happened many times before in Lucid’s history - maybe half a dozen or so.

Yes that’s correct.
