Gravity Delivery Discussion

  • One Physical Car Key (with one on due bill)
  • One Physical Key Card (with one on due bill)

We received only one key fob but two key cards. So the key cards, too, are now in short supply?

Also, I've seen several other posters mention a "due bill". I've looked back through all the paperwork from the delivery and have found no such bill. The delivery advisor told us we would be sent the second key, and I just took his word for it without thinking to ask for any documentation since I've found Lucid to be very reliable on such commitments.

Was there any mention of when you could expect the second fob and card?

Only received one fob and two cards and was told that was all I would get.

Took delivery of my Gravity Dream Edition today (Aurora Green; Tahoe; 22/23) and simultaneously left my 2022 Model X Plaid on their lot in trade. Their offer was better than expected given I had over 70K miles on the Plaid, so I went for it (and the convenience of not having to juggle a private party sale).

My delivery experience was quick and informative. Accessories delivered with the car:
  • Dream Edition Frunk Seat
  • One Physical Car Key (with one on due bill)
  • One Physical Key Card (with one on due bill)
  • NACS Mobile Charging Cable (with 14-50 and standard 120v adapters)
  • CCS to NACS Adapter
  • J1772 to NACS Adapter
  • Tow hitch receiver
This won't be a shock to those of you who've already taken delivery -- I am absolutely blown away. While the Model X Plaid was impressive in performance, the interior always felt austere, and space utilization was subpar due to the sloping roofline. The Gravity is in a different league. The material fit and finish alone puts it ahead. Every surface I touch feels intentionally crafted and genuinely premium. But what really sets it apart? THE RIDE QUALITY! OMG! Sumptuous isn't an overstatement. The level of refinement and comfort is extraordinary. It's smooth, serene and deeply satisfying. I'm racking my brain to remember whether my 2016 BMW 750i (the last ICE car I ever owned) rode as smoothly as my Gravity does -- it's really that good. The only nit I have re: delivery is the fact HomeLink presented me with the dreaded barcode for purchase while I was in the Studio. The person giving me the orientation told me that would go away once the car was 'fully delivered' and I forgot to look again before driving off. Sure enough, when I got home and had some time to fiddle around with settings, I went into HomeLink settings, and it appears mine hasn't been set up (read: the software isn't communicating with the installed hardware). I don't like that I'll have to make a service call, but I can't say I wasn't warned by others' similar experiences. That minor thing did zero to dampen my excitement. I'm thrilled to have this vehicle in my garage at long last.

The difference between my outgoing Model X and the new Gravity is striking. Lucid really has created something special.

So say hello to Lucid Gravity Dream Edition #35 aka 'Velocitron' folks!

Good to hear that ride quality is fantastic even on the big wheels! I had ordered 21/22s but they had a 22/23 vehicle available that nearly matched my spec, so I went for it. I usually go for the smallest wheels I can, but I wonder if the ride quality improvement would even be noticeable on smaller wheels.

I thought the two key fobs only come with the dream edition. Surprised the key card is in short supply…

I got the text this evening that I've been waiting for.

My SA texted me to let me know my Gravity is through production and headed to Tysons.
Should be ready for pickup in early August.

A couple of logistical request I made, that may benefit some:
  1. As mentioned in a previous post, I don't want to drive the car the approximately 100 miles from Tysons to my house, so I've asked if the car can be delivered to the Mechanicsville SC that is across town from me. They have to do the inspection at Tysons. My SA is going to talk with the delivery team to find out what's possible. Delivery to home is possible; with cost, as some already know. SA will follow up with me tomorrow.
  2. I would like the aero covers removed at Tysons and the center caps installed. If not, I'd like to be billed for the caps and have them placed in the car for me to install myself.
An FYI for those of you in states that require a front license plate, but are not having the license plate frame put on at the factory; they are required by law to provide the front license plate frame, so it will be placed in the car at time of delivery.

One final bit of info to give perspective to those accepting orphans recently:

My SA offered me this car when I texted her on July 10. My dashboard immediately went to "In Production" and the VIN showed in my dashboard.
When I asked how long to delivery, she said "I'll give you the standard 30-45 days response", but she also didn't know how long it had been in production.
She said today that the car came out of production yesterday. She usually gets a message when a car is through production. Not this time. She was checking the status of her customers' orders and saw today that mine was completed yesterday and ready for transport. Going with the completely unrealistic premise that production started the Monday (7/7) before I texted her and excluding weekends, July 7- 23 is thirteen weekdays. Obviously the car was not built in 13 days. So, if you are offered a car already in production, there's no telling how long it's been "in production".

I had a clue today that something was up.
A pickup location showed in my dashboard. Hadn't been there before.
I saw it today when I signed in and was looking through the Lucid store.
I resisted the urge to text my SA and then she texted me this evening.
Congrats! What is your configuration? We are also Tyson's customers and have our SA on the lookout for orphan vehicles. It sounds like you have a female SA; ours is male. How proactive was she in searching for orphan vehicles for you? We asked about the same time as you texted to be on the lookout.

This is great information thank you!

I had upgraded my order to Black DE on July 6 and it entered production (website status changed and SA texted me) on July 11. Back then my SA gave me his best delivery guestimate of end of July (best case scenario) but most likely mid August - which from your timeline looks realistic.

Are you able to see the Owners Manual and Software Updates on the website now that it's completed production?
What’s your DE wheels size? I upgraded to black DE Tahoe 20/21 inch wheels July 7 but haven’t got any further updates. That’s great yours is in production!

I know this will be boring to those of you who've been driving your own Gravity for weeks and months now, but today's the day for me!

I'm taking delivery of my Gravity DE, hereafter referred to as Velocitron (Aurora Green; Tahoe; 22/23) this afternoon, and I wanted to thank @9point81 for the paragraph above, which I snipped from his excellent first-day-of-ownership summary. It was super helpful in helping frame my own expectations. I'm VERY excited to finally be taking delivery of this car, but will strive to have the 'patience of Job' when it comes to bugginess.
@bryway...I have a question for you. I have ordered my GGT (Supernova Bronze/Ojai interior/22/23 wheels). I'm concerned about wheel noise on the larger tires as that is an issue on my present car. I would be interested in your thoughts on the wheel noise of the larger tires. My projected (by me) delivery is October/November and I may change to the smaller wheels if you note issues with the larger tires. Congrats on delivery!!

I took delivery this week with the 21/22" wheels and the only thing I can compare it to is my Air with the 19" wheels. On the same freeway, I feel the 19" on the Air were quieter. When available, I will be purchasing the smaller wheels and hoping for more quiet. Not sure if this helps but just my thoughts.

Everything they wrote down at delivery goes on a due bill. It’s no different from a standard service request.

Oh dang, I didn't check to see if they gave me the tow receiver. Where was it stored in your car?
It's in the side pocket in the trunk. Wheel nut covers and center caps should also be there for when you remove the inserts

Oh ok, I'll check.

Inserts?

Sorry. I'm totally clueless about the Gravity. I got it because I like the way it looks and the philosophy behind the company.

I will say the ride is a bit too, floaty? Or balloony? Intend to drive cars that are very firm and stiff. Even our "normal" car, the Forester also doesn't feel like this and it's a Subaru. My gut tells me this is representative of a tire with a lot of sidewall flex and not necessarily the suspension tuning. Surprisingly this is the "sport" package with the big wheels and summer tires.

Is this an EV thing? Extreme weight? Different tire construction philosophy?

I also have never been a fan of PZeros. We had a 981S with PZeros and it had this same feeling. The breakaway characteristics of the tire was very sudden and not progressive. The feeling went away after I swapped the tires to the Re71.

Hurry up and burn through these tires and find something stiffer.

I didn't get it. However, I did call the Miami Service Center where we took delivery, and they confirmed that we're on their list to have a second fob mailed to us when it becomes available. But they have no word from Lucid when that might be.

If you got the 20's or 21's the wheels have inserts in them for better range. If you pull them out the wheel nuts are exposed so they provide the covers for them.

I have the 22/23 wheels. I have not noticed any overt road noise from them. In fact the ride noise is exceptionally low. I cannot compare to the other wheel sizes but have no concerns so far with the Pzeros. However I live in a very warm area so summer tires make sense. These are not all season tires.

Triple chamber air suspension + 6000lb vehicle? I don’t think what you’re describing is due to the tires. Are you at the lower ride height setting? At least in my test drive, while there was some floaty feel when driving straight along, as soon as I’d take a corner the car would just do it with minimal effort or body roll or need to correct. I’ve never experience another SUV that cornered like this thing.

It was set to smooth and standard. I've also never owned and air ride vehicle.

I'll take it up highway 2 once I get more comfortable with the characteristics of the Gravity.
