Gravity Delivery Discussion

If you got the 20's or 21's the wheels have inserts in them for better range. If you pull them out the wheel nuts are exposed so they provide the covers for them.

Do you happen to know how to take them off? Take of the lug nut cover and it simply pulls/snaps off or do we need to take the whole wheel off to get them off? Or can they simply be pulled right off?

Just grab the cover and pull. I tend to pull a few areas out in the outer area to get it released a little and then grab it from the center and pull with a little bit of force.

When you put it back in though, make sure you punch the center hard to ensure it’s inserted fully. Otherwise it appears like it’s inserted properly but you’ll lose it on a freeway somewhere.

Awesome! Thanks!

It was set to smooth and standard. I've also never owned and air ride vehicle.

I'll take it up highway 2 once I get more comfortable with the characteristics of the Gravity.
Ah I think you can lower ride height below standard. I didn’t try it on standard I was on the lower (but not slammed) setting. It can’t drive above 10mph on the lowest setting I think, I think that’s just for getting into low garages or loading things into the back easier.

We received only one key fob but two key cards. So the key cards, too, are now in short supply?

Also, I've seen several other posters mention a "due bill". I've looked back through all the paperwork from the delivery and have found no such bill. The delivery advisor told us we would be sent the second key, and I just took his word for it without thinking to ask for any documentation since I've found Lucid to be very reliable on such commitments.

Was there any mention of when you could expect the second fob and card?
They actually presented me with a digital document (which I signed via DocuSign) that listed these two as yet-to-be-delivered (and due to me). They asked me to initial next to each line item. There were only two line items -- an additional key fob and an additional key card.

They didn't tell me when they'd be delivered, but said it'd be "soon". The delivery person also let me know (as I think others in this group have mentioned after their respective Dream Edition deliveries) I should expect "...a few other goodies" for the Dream Edition. I'm assuming this is the aforementioned wine caddy and other kitsch. I'm just happy the frunk seat (with special Dream Edition label) was delivered with my car. Probably the only 'extra' accessory I'll really use.

Good to hear that ride quality is fantastic even on the big wheels! I had ordered 21/22s but they had a 22/23 vehicle available that nearly matched my spec, so I went for it. I usually go for the smallest wheels I can, but I wonder if the ride quality improvement would even be noticeable on smaller wheels.
I had 22" wheels (all around) on my Model X and the ride wasn't awful, but it certainly wasn't the smoothest. Watching all the 'road to Gravity' videos, and interviews with the suspension tuning teams gave me confidence the Gravity would out-perform the Model X wrt ride quality, so I stuck with the larger wheels which I think look absolutely stunning on this car. They help it look more like a seriously capable eurosports wagon IMO. I'm sooooo happy with my config!

@bryway...I have a question for you. I have ordered my GGT (Supernova Bronze/Ojai interior/22/23 wheels). I'm concerned about wheel noise on the larger tires as that is an issue on my present car. I would be interested in your thoughts on the wheel noise of the larger tires. My projected (by me) delivery is October/November and I may change to the smaller wheels if you note issues with the larger tires. Congrats on delivery!!
I was (and continue to be) shocked at the noise isolation in the cabin. Mind you, I'm coming from a rather noisy Model X that had 22" wheels and (to borrow a phrase coined by someone else in this group "...creaked and rattled like a pirate ship."

Yes, I can hear road noise, but I don't think I'd categorize it as "noise". It's "sound" that's well muted, and again, I just can't get over the ride quality. This thing rides soooo smoothly in both 'Smooth' and 'Sprint' modes. I started wondering why others who've taken delivery haven't been singing from the rooftops about ride quality, but then remembered a lot of folks are also Lucid Air owners, and are accustomed to Lucid's suspension tuning. I'm all new to the brand, and hadn't previously driven a Lucid -- didn't even get to test drive a Gravity before taking delivery. I walked into this blind, but now TOTALLY see what all the fuss is about. Just Wow!

I will say the ride is a bit too, floaty? Or balloony? Intend to drive cars that are very firm and stiff. Even our "normal" car, the Forester also doesn't feel like this and it's a Subaru. My gut tells me this is representative of a tire with a lot of sidewall flex and not necessarily the suspension tuning. Surprisingly this is the "sport" package with the big wheels and summer tires.

Is this an EV thing? Extreme weight? Different tire construction philosophy?

I also have never been a fan of PZeros. We had a 981S with PZeros and it had this same feeling. The breakaway characteristics of the tire was very sudden and not progressive. The feeling went away after I swapped the tires to the Re71.

Hurry up and burn through these tires and find something stiffer.
It's usually just the opposite. Most EVs have stiff suspensions and struggle to give a smooth ride. You often have to get up into the $80k+ range to get smoother air suspensions in an EV like this.

That's one of the reasons I'm moving up from my Mustang Mach-E to the Gravity - for a smoother suspension. The Mach-E is fine on the highway but on city streets you really feel those bumps and cracks. It's my only real complaint with the Mach-E, but it's a hard one to dismiss because it's every drive. Teslas are the same way, as are most EVs in the low-mid price range.

Some people want more of a sports car (firm ride, planted on the road, but more harsh). Others want a luxury car (smooth and floaty, but less sporty). I have not driven a Gravity yet so I can't say for sure, but every report suggests it's very smooth, but also holds the road pretty well for a larger SUV. Clearly more luxury than sporty though.

Note that there's different drive modes that affect that sporty vs luxury feel. Others might be able to offer experience with the different modes (Smooth vs Swift vs Sprint) to describe how different they feel and how firm/sporty it gets.

Also, if you get the 3-chamber air suspension option, lowering it to the lowest level should give you more firmness and less float.

Oh ok, I'll check.

Inserts?

Sorry. I'm totally clueless about the Gravity. I got it because I like the way it looks and the philosophy behind the company.

Try Sprint Mode and report back.

This is great information thank you!

I had upgraded my order to Black DE on July 6 and it entered production (website status changed and SA texted me) on July 11. Back then my SA gave me his best delivery guestimate of end of July (best case scenario) but most likely mid August - which from your timeline looks realistic.

Are you able to see the Owners Manual and Software Updates on the website now that it's completed production?
If your DE "entered" production on July 11 that guestimate of end of July or mid-August sounds a bit agressive to me.
However, perhaps your SA knows something more than mine knew.

My SA said 30-45 days (6 - 9 weeks) to delivery, from the day (July 10) she found mine.
Because she did not know exactly when it entered production, I went with the premise that production for my car started the week (July 7 - 11) that my SA found my car.
That equated to August 15 and September 5 as the dates for production being completed.
With all that has to be done after production, I wasn't expecting to hear anything until late Sept/mid-Oct.
With production of my car being completed on July 23, I seriously doubt production started the week of July 7 - 11.
I think the car had been in production for several weeks. Perhaps not.

Congrats! What is your configuration? We are also Tyson's customers and have our SA on the lookout for orphan vehicles. It sounds like you have a female SA; ours is male. How proactive was she in searching for orphan vehicles for you? We asked about the same time as you texted to be on the lookout.
I have GGT/AG/Platinum/Tahoe/"21-"22/all options including outlets, no HUD

Female SA.
She's searched for orphans when I was there for the test drive (showed me everything she saw in the system) and when I texted her.
If you've got an SA that will respond to texts or call, that's good.
The one I started with last year (May) when I went to see the prototype, never responded, so I switched.
When I was there in October to see the pre-production model, I saw my new SA and checked with her to make sure the system showed her as my assigned SA.

My timeline:
Feb. 26 - placed order online
May 15 - test drive
July 10 - asked about available models after hearing on forum about possible cars being available

That’s normal. Once the car is getting close to leaving the factory you’ll start to see version numbers show up in the portal. At this stage, it’s the only way to tell your delivery is imminent.

Yes that's why I was asking, wondering if I could use that as a signal rather than bothering my SA.

texted her.

And for those of us who are not, guess you need to get creative? I even wrote to [email protected] asking for "any SA not named xxxxx". That made my original guy call. They really make the sales process difficult.

Would you mind sending me a DM with the name and number of your SA?

It's in the side pocket in the trunk. Wheel nut covers and center caps should also be there for when you remove the inserts
I was thinking I would need to buy the covers and caps.
Perhaps you received them because you have a GDE?

Anyone with a GGT get the wheel covers and center caps with their Gravity?

We've had an Air Dream Edition (21" wheels) since late 2021. It's the best combination of handling and ride compliance I had ever experienced in a car, including the many premium German cars I've owned.

But . . . somehow . . . the Gravity takes even that up a notch. I haven't really tried to toss our Gravity (with 21/22" wheels) around yet, and we're still waiting for our Gravity with the 22/23" wheels. But what I have seen is that the Gravity is the quietest and most compliant ride I've ever owned or experienced, and the bit of tossing I could do of the Gravity on 22/23" wheels during our test drives convinced me that almost all of that compliance and quiet is a function of the car's engineering and solidity, not its tire/wheel choices.

My advice: choose the Gravity wheels based on your range needs, weather conditions you'll experience, concerns about potholes, and how aggressively you want to toss the car around. You'll get world-beating ride compliance and quiet with any wheel/tire choice.

Hm I didn’t get the covers. I’ll have to ask.

If you can't switch, try letting your person know you are ready to buy.
I kind of think the original person I worked with thought perhaps I wasn't really serious about buying.
Either that or he has a sufficient number of customers to meet his financial needs and work effort.

Hard to say, but when someone doesn't follow up with me, especially after I definitely expressed my enthusiasm, I'm done.
After looking at the Gravity prototype, I test drove an Air last year with the person I started with.
When we were back in the studio, he just disappeared. And that was after I said I needed to give him my contact info.
I waited for about 30 minutes. Maybe he was hungry and went to lunch without saying goodbye or anything, just gone.
