Yup. Integrating HomeKit stuff is confusing but easy once you understand it. The confusion is because you can go both ways - you can share all your Home Assistant things with HomeKit, and you can share all of your HomeKit things with Home Assistant. The documentation isn't (to me at least) super clear about which button does what.
Ok, here goes...
It's become much easier for newbies to deal with complex stuff using ChatGPT. It will write the YAML for you and then you can just copy it and add your device ids etc where they're needed

Hmmm...I don't think I said it sux. I said I found it very cumbersome to configure. I'm not a coder, but I'm not a luddite either, and I am wondering how much time I want to invest setting this up to do....I don't know what. HomeKit works pretty well with about 80% of my devices. The other 20% require specific apps, etc. If I actually had a Lucid, that might be interesting, but delivery is still several weeks off.
No need to argue. I think the answer is fairly clear: without a use case, it isnāt useful. There are many hundreds of use cases.
Well it turns out I don't have an answer to that question--which is prolly the crux of the problem. I guess I was vaguely hoping I could consolidate all my remote functions/automations in one place, but HomeKit already does a pretty good job of that in a very attractive, user-friendly form. Perhaps my goal should be to add my cameras and Ring devices into the mix. These (and my cars) are the only devices that don't play nicely with HomeKit.
