I want the bi-directional charging option with the LCHS. Unsure when the option will exist, but I'd rather have the LCHS for when it does exist.

To my knowledge, a NACS cable is not offered yet.
 
Neither Lucid's mobile cable not the LCHCS is available with a NACS connector. There's no reason to buy either one at the moment as they are not a good match for Gravity. I'd instead get a quality third-party EVSE with NACS. There are dozens of different models available.
 
Get the Tesla home charger. Comes with NACS and CCS
 
May be it’s time to start a gravity charging thread. Now that there are 30 shipped which will be going to the showrooms, the ones that are going to be shipped to customers will most probably be on time as promised by end of April

So starting a forum with discussion regarding LUCID GRAVITY charging might be a better option

@Adnillien any thoughts on starting a Gravity sub-forum called "Charging"?
I see there's one for the Lucid Air.

Why do you say the LCHS is not a good match for Gravity?
Even with using the SAE J1772 to NACS adapter provided by Lucid?

I'd like to be in a position to utilize bi-directional charging should Lucid eventually provide support for it.
 
Maybe I missed it but has Lucid promised future bi-directional charging with the Gravity. I did not see it on the web site (but I may be looking in the wrong places).

I still think these are test drive units. That's just my feeling.

Lest we go through another cycle of expectations being built up and then dashed, we need to keep in mind what Lucid has actually said. In a March 28 interview, Mark Winterhoff said:

"We have nearly completed building vehicles for studios and test drives and expect them to begin arriving at our locations across the U.S. beginning in April. For early customers eagerly awaiting their Lucid Gravity delivery, we plan to begin delivering additional vehicles at the end of April."

In another video appearance he broke April out into more detail: the first two weeks of April will be spent building cars to provide to the press, and the last two weeks of April will see production of units destined for showroom display and test drives. Then production will move on to cars destined for customers.

"Begin delivering at the end of April" does not suggest that many Gravities will make it into customers' hands in the final days of April. I think May is the better date on which to rest expectations. Even some of the showrooms whose demo vehicles are to be built before customer cars are still saying they don't expect to receive their Gravities until sometime in May.

I'm still concerned by the photos and comments from the NYC event last weekend which indicated interior and exterior panels out of alignment, a loud seat motor in one car, a seat not moving through its full range in another, HUDs not activated in some cars, etc.

It's much, much more important for Lucid to get these issues ironed out than to try to get cars into customer hands a few days earlier.

I've made at least eight visits that I can remember to Lucid's three Florida studios since they first opened. Things may be different in the California studios, but I have seldom found the sales advisors in Florida showing any signs of being harried unless there was a special event underway. More often they are just standing in a nearly empty showroom by themselves or chatting with one another, sometimes seeming relieved they have a customer to talk to.

This is not to suggest they are not doing their jobs. It does suggest, however, that a customer excited about the product they're selling might not be that huge an imposition on them.

You're right, if you are interested and ready to invest in V2H, then the LCHCS could make sense. I was interested too and have an LCHCS installed in my garage. However, V2H capability hasn't been released yet. And I don't like resorting to adapters for daily use. After my multi-year experience in waiting for Lucid's V2H, I would not invest in Lucid-specific charging hardware yet. I'd wait until it is shipping, all details are known, then think about the best path forward with my money. By then I'd expect a NACS version of the LCHCS to be available.

Everyone knows that if you’re pedantic about quality, you never get the first model year of any new vehicle; you wait. Lucid or any car company, for that matter, can’t afford to delay for what is considered a small portion of customers’ critical issues. Tesla is a prime example. Everyone jokes about the panel gaps and other issues, and they still exist after all these years of manufacturing, but it hasn’t stopped them selling (until recently). If 90% of your customers don’t care why would you delay for weeks or months to accommodate for the 10%, it’s the risk you take getting a first-year model. It could be flawless or it could come with some issues requiring it to be serviced to fix.

Let's take the issue of the demo car that had a rear seat that would not move all the way forward. That would impede entry into the third row. Do you really think that would be an issue only for a "pedantic" customer? Or a rear seat motor that was abnormally loud on another demo car, something that is both annoying but could also indicate risk of early failure of the mechanism used to facilitate rear seat entry?

I had an early production Air Dream Edition -- production no. 154. While all the early-production issues with the car eventually were resolved (except for one), it required multiple service visits from mobile techs and a couple of flatbed transports to service centers. Fortunately, this was at a time when Lucid service centers were not swamped as they are now often reported to be.

If Gravities get delivered to customers with the kinds of early issues some Airs had, not only will the service centers be inundated and customers become increasingly angry at service delays, it will also load further warranty costs onto a company that has already indicated that is an issue. And this is not to mention the press reviews on those early issues that, especially regarding software, dominated early press coverage of the car and still occasionally crop up in references. In fact, this spawned a reputation of Lucid being a third-tier software player that still dogs it today and that Lucid is only now beginning to put a bit behind it.

If you think getting Gravities into customer hands a few days or even a few weeks earlier is worth a repeat of all that, then I can only say I hope no one at Lucid is listening.

Even if the V2H never materializes, I'm fine with having an LCHS.
FOMO is a factor.
What if Lucid offers V2H the next year after I purchase another charger?
Could I sell the third-party charger and then buy an LCHS? Yes.

Knowing that other chargers exist for less than the $1200 Lucid is asking, I plan to buy an LCHS through the forum marketplace. They seem to sell for between $500 to $800.
If I can buy an LCHS through the marketplace ($650), I could then buy another LCHS with my Lucid credit and sell it for $650 to get my money back from my marketplace purchase. In the end, I've spent $200 (the difference between the LCHS retail price and the Lucid credit).

A $200 (after Lucid credit) LCHS is being sold for $500 - $800 because customers like me who want a charger before delivery are going to the marketplace to buy, then selling their Lucid credit charger to recoup their $500-$800. Some choose to sell their credit code on the marketplace. I'd rather try to get back $500-$800 than $1000.

Once my Gravity is in production, I plan to ask my SA about adding an LCHS to my order or doing a separate order before delivery, to which the Lucid credit could be applied at delivery.

Can I just use a public charger while I wait for an LCHS purchased after delivery? Yes, but if's winter time and snow or ice is forecasted during that time, I'd prefer to not have to rely on public charging. Also, I'd like to have charger installation addressed before delivery in case there are installation issues.

If I'm missing something, let me know.
Just planning ahead or at least trying.

BTW, I'm hoping a "charging" Gravity sub-forum will be created so charging-related discussions like this are not buried in a delivery thread.
