Actually Volvo was not…at least in my personal experience. I had an EX90 on order very early (with a deposit paid) and I got a form letter email from them within two weeks of when deliveries were supposed to start that included no definitive timing whatsoever other than “there is a delay.” That’s when I bailed and bought an Ioniq 5 as a “holdover” until something better became real.Volvo was very clear about their delays the entire time.
That is already more communication we've had from Lucid by 100%! I also had a day 1 reservation on the EX90 and can say I felt more communicated with than I have been with Gravity for sure.Actually Volvo was not…at least in my personal experience. Obviously there is variability between the organizations as my experience with Lucid (both buying my Air last year and with my Gravity order recently) has been significantly better than Volvo. That is already more communication we've had from Lucid by 100%! Was that the video that got taken down? Second episode of Gravity that was up like only a day? Do you have a link to it?I did rewatch a segment of the SavageGeese interview and Peter literally said out loud they were debugging a supply chain quality issue. We can all speculate, I suspect the glass roof now...
You’re mixing up reservations compared to orders. Lucid made such a song and dance about not doing reservations and criticized others who do it. They said they’re going straight to order when the car is ready to go into production and deliver.Volvo opened orders almost 2 years before the EX90, Ford was 2 years before the F150 Electric, Polestar? Same deal. Tesla? How’s the Roadster coming along?!?
I think the main difference in some of the reactions and push back you’ve gotten are from people who have been here before with Lucid since this is their second long wait with them. A couple of these guys are OG’s here who waited a long time (years) for their Airs, have had plenty of imperfections on their cars, and are now playing the silent long waiting game on their Gravity which they thought was going to be different. I think everyone here wants to see Lucid succeed, but patience levels may have diminished since they started in 2019 which is understandable. My thought is that once they receive their Gravity, this wait too will just be a distant memory since the drive and ownership will be worth it.We’re just never gonna agree on this one. I had an order for the Volvo (that I cancelled because of how they handled sales / orders) and purchased one Lucid and put a second on order because of how exemplary the communication and customer experience has been for me. You’re just not going to convince me that Lucid is a bad actor here.
All makes very good sense and I definitely feel for them. Perhaps my perspective is off because I started counting time for Gravity 11/7/24, not when they first announced the car however many years ago. And the difference between a “reservation” and “order” may really annoy some, but as long as my deposit is refundable? It’s just semantics…I can always walk away.I think the main difference in some of the reactions and push back you’ve gotten are from people who have been here before with Lucid since this is their second long wait with them. This is what we are all hoping. I cleared everything with the wife, timing is great, and need vehicle that is fun while I consolidate. I have met Peter and really, we all are, waiting for the Gravity with all its glout of automotive supremacy. I am now making the promise I made with the introduction of the Air - purchasing a Lucid. I guess if I just cancelled everything that annoyed me I'd have no wife or kids...you might be onto something @Blue LectroidAll makes very good sense and I definitely feel for them. The ironic thing is that all of the folks that seem most annoyed have not canceled their orders (or at least they have not said so here). So, is Lucid really hurting themself that much or are their actions just annoying some people?
@hydbob, OK, THAT had me laughing in a way that was worth far more than just an emoji response!! Touché!!I guess if I just cancelled everything that annoyed me I'd have no wife or kids...you might be onto something @Blue Lectroid
