Lucid-EA connection failure?

It's been iffy for me too. Sometimes it starts with no problem, other times, either only 1 or two are working and I have to use the Lucid app to start the charge session and sometimes, authentication error prevents me from charging. Today, an ID4 was using the only one that was working. One that had an unlit screen for weeks looked like it was back up. Authentication errors. Asked the ID4 and she said it didn't work for her either. Called EA, waited over 10 minutes then asked them to reboot and same problem. By the time all the attempts at rebooting car/EA and other steps, the ID4 driver offered to let me use the working one since she reached 80%. Had to use the Lucid app to initiate charge session but it worked.

The whole charging infrastructure is honestly crap. I thought for sure I was gonna be stranded at a Chargepoint stop in Maine today at 19% SOC in a massive rain storm, and the same station had worked for @Dortreo the week before. Mine kept saying preparing to charge but then didn’t do anything, except it did give me an error message in the car saying “preconditioning, battery too cold to charge”. I assumed it was Lucid’s fault so I called them and they were pretty helpful, I couldn’t even unplug the charging cable as it was stuck in this “waiting for EV mode” on the charger, so I pulled the emergency release then disconnected and tried again. This time it started charging, then failed 2 minutes later. Luckily the MachE plugged in next to me left, so I went and plugged into that one and it worked perfectly, got 169kw off of 150kw station. Then another driver came up to me and said “I’ve found these Chargepoint chargers don’t work so well in the rain, they think the battery is cold and won’t charge”. 🤦‍♂️.

Really? On trips I average over 4 miles/kWh

where us emergency release?

Open the frunk and you’ll see a plastic rectangle above the charger. Pull up hard on it. It will feel like it’s going to break, it’s actually attached to a wire that manually releases the charging plug if the charger wont release it (this was Chargepoint fault not Lucid).

This is exactly why in another post I said that I have charger anxiety, not range anxiety! You are absolutely right that for the most part, only Telsa seems to have a reliable charging network. All of the other EV manufactures are going to have to band together and fix this! Just my 2.5 cents...

Yeah my rule from now on is to not let the car get below 30% if I’m going to be in a location with few options. The next nearest DCFC was 46 miles away (an EVGo at a Hannaford that had reports of glitches), which I probably could have made with 19% SOC however it was biblical flood level rain which kills efficiency so I was getting worried until I got the other charger to work. The best thing about this car is that you have enough range to go somewhere else if a charger location fails. If I had been in a Taycan with 19% SOC I actually would have needed to get towed if that site didn’t work, or else gone knocking on some local Toyota dealer to see if I could use their L2 for an hour.

Yes. Same here. I generally try to find a charger when at 30% due to “charger anxiety” rather than “range anxiety”. This is especially true when on trips where I need to try out chargers I have not used before. I use PlugShare A LOT to check if other people have had problems. I will always make a point to update that app whenever I have issues, however small, to let others know.

For my adventure I even went to the exact charging station @Dortreo had used a week prior, but it still failed for me apparently cuz the heavy rains made it think the battery was cold but then said “waiting for EV” while the Lucid rep on the phone said the car was waiting for the charger to initiate.

Funny enough I just got home with 19% and decided to try and charge at my EA in preparation for next 2.x update, the one that failed in spite of an hour of tries two weeks ago, and first attempt plug and charge at 150kw worked flawlessly and is giving me 173kw, go figure. Maybe 2.0.2 unbroke something or maybe EA fixed something. So confusing, but I’ll take it!

Having a remarkably bad EA experience right now in South Lake Tahoe. 1 charger broken, other three give plug and charge errors or charging interrupted errors. Took over an hour on the phone with EA just to get a charge initiated, and that is charger limited at 57kW on a 350kW charger. Two other vehicles came, changed, and left while I was on the phone with EA.

What did they do? Reset the station?

I think this is very common to all new purchasers of EV with complimentary EA charge. My son and I also experienced negativity with Polestar/EA handshake first 2 times until finally figured out in EA app. And I’ve read several newly delivered AGT in the forum having the same EA initialization issue as well.

What did they do? Reset the station?
Resetting didn't help. Letting the car reboot didn't help. Initiating the charge from ea's end got changing started, but then they failed within a few seconds. Could only get one of four stations to work in that manner. Plug n charge had been a very frustrating waste of time for me.

I'd call up Lucid and ask them to disable it for the remainder of your trip

I was thinking the same. Or asking Lucid to just turn off plug n charge on my car indefinitely. Not worth the trouble. Frustrating watching other EVs charge without drama while on your fifth phone call to EA over an hour's time in an effort to get your shiny new Air to charge.

I had to charge 3 times this weekend, only had an authentication error on one station, then moved to the one next to it and was fine just had to initiate via Lucid app. Other 2 times plug n charge worked.

You are having better luck than me! How do I know when I need to authenticate via Lucid's app? I'm very glad we can make it home with no further charging, and hesitant to try my luck on another long trip. Software glitches have already made this shot trip enough of an adventure- outside drivers' door handle stopped working, pilot panel froze with climate control turned off. "Fixed" both by letting the car sleep.

It’s recommended to open the lucid app once plugging in, sometimes an Electrify America button appears in which you need to click it and specify your charging station number

Yea when you plug in, it will show the payment screen on the EA charger, then you can initiate through the app or inside the car via the charging screen.

Ah- I did see the payment screen one time out of maybe 10-12 attempts over the three functioning charging stations. I hit the initiate button in the app but guess I was too late, as I got a timeout error immediately after that and moved on to another station.
